Found a HUGE spider outside my office last night. (NW Houston).

Her web was at least 20 feet from bush to tree. She was about 3 inches across, including legs.

Almost walked right into her.

Yes, I screamed, (a little), in spite of myself.

There is a spider in my basement that refuses to die. It is too tough and fast and sneaky, unlike its kin who have fallen to my arachnid holocaust. To be honest I am starting to respect the creature.

Megaloarachnophobia. Irrational fear of big spiders.

Nothing irrational about being scared of spiders btw. If you kill a spider, his friends will crawl in your ears while you sleep and have babies.

ummm, not the giant spiders though. they just eat you.

This was on display at Rock Center in Manhattan near where I work about a year and a half ago. I walked under it every day for about a month. It was full of awesomeness; and heeby jeebies.

I make it a point to keep wasp spray sporadically located throughout the house so I can pick it up anywhere and kill spiders from 10 feet away.

The Spider is an ode to my mother.
She was my best friend.
Like a spider, my mother was a weaver.
Like a poopy splinter, I popped out of her beaver.

Wait... What?

I was on a nature trail with my dad last weekend, and I walked into a huge web that was stretched across the trail. I'm terrified of spiders, so I screamed. Really screamed, and scared the crap out of everyone that heard me.

Well I should expand on that I guess, they're not spiders but they do belong to the class Arachnida.

Although I have an irrational fear of bugs, I can't stop staring at the picture. What are those white things on the spider's belly/body/lump that isn't legs? They look like the plastic tags from a department store price ticket.

I knew a girl once who had what she thought was a big zit on her cheek. But when she popped it, it was actually a spider's nest and a million spiders came out.

really.

That spider was on display at the Frederik Meijer Botanical Gardens here in Grand Rapids, MI, for a year or so. Some of my more phobic friends refused to go to the gardens at all while the thing was there. I laughed at them because they will soon be bred out of the gene pool.

that is going to scare the crap out some drunks leaving the bars at closing time.
