I thought Russians were often made fun of for their *lack* of using "the" in their sentences. This report turns that whole stereotype upside-down!

Wow... fourteen paragraphs of absolute nothing! Are we sure they're scientists and not politicians?

The new article said no more than the last one other than that they discovered something astonishing that will revolutionize the world. Ooh.

Well, that was slightly more interesting/informative than the previous one. Once we get some heavier news coverage, demonstrations, prototypes, then it'll officially be 'neato'.

sensless technobabbling...
once he said magnetic monopole it was obvious that this is a farce. Go ahead ask your local physcist what he thinks of magnetic monopoles. BTW find the horrific physics flaw here:

"We proved that mechanism experimentally: the substance which produced the 300 volt current was working on the level of 300 volts again after the 4-hour disconnection"

300 volt current? What the hell is a volt current? a volt is not a farking unit of current. you'd think that scientists claiming to have proven the existance of a monopole would know better.
if you cut through all of the technobabble bullshiat there is nothing there, i want to see a write up dammit!

This might be more helpful if they didn't just blast it through Babelfish or whatever they've done.

I tried reading this and, ow. Just ow.

Human translator, please.

The sorry, the human the translator the please.

i was expecting to see "new pollution" on that list.

Qualitative and structural nature of these substances can not be explained from the point of view of chemical laws which are known nowadays. The substance in this condition may radiate the time-changing magnetic flux.

Just for a second I believed this to be a Star Trek transcript...

2 things:

1. It would be a lot easier to read (and probably make more sense -ala "300 volt current") if someone were to translate it that actually knew english.

2. Y'all can just ignore this. The oil companies will buy the rights to it and put it on the shelf next to the pill that turns water into gas and the 300mpg carburator.

Hey this sounds like IT... For those of you in the know, this is the Second supposedly 'change the way we live' announcement in the past couple of months... Why the Fark don't they get on with some details..
2001-07-26 10:06:13 AM
yeh..but can they hook a car battery up to a video game....nah!
2001-07-26 10:06:52 AM
We admit that we had more general phrases in that material than the actual facts.

How kind and noble of them!

FYI, I can generate unlimited electrical power using only four small springs, a snickers bar, and an ordinary shoe.

"Nonstoichiometric" makes about as much sense as "anti-color" or "negative volume". Even if the whatever-the-hell-it's-supposed-to-be didn't obey the known laws of physics, it would still have a change in energy when it reacted, so you could still MEASURE that change in energy, and stoichiometry is measuring changes in energy as a result of chemical reactions.

Actually, since this isn't supposed to be a chemical reaction at all, it makes even less sense than i thought.

Move over Star Trek... Pravda.Ru is moving up on the technobabble charts.

i'm still waiting for my farking flying robots that shoot laser beams out of thier eyes. Until then, nothing impresses me.
2001-07-26 11:08:23 AM
I was amused.
2001-07-26 11:23:49 AM
Does this mean we'll finally get flying cars? I've been waiting so long now.

What they failed to mention is that the newly "discovered" materials were actually torn from the wreckage of a Zorg intergalactic freighter that crash-landed in Siberia last Thursday. The next "discovery" to be announced as a result of their looting? The bottomless beer mug...whose volume descends almost infinitely into the 7th dimension.

We have made a startling new discovery that will change your life. Call now for details. Only $4.99 a minute.

The Sun could change their name to "The Truth," and nobody would believe the shiat they wrote about. Why should Pravada be any different? Just because they roughly mean "Truth" in their language, does not mean they have to tell it.
2001-07-26 03:05:59 PM
Besides, if it was found to be the truth you can beat your ass China wouldn't let their new whore mention it to their enemy nations (atleast, not until they have working models which can be used in warfare, of course).

Good grief!!!!!

I have never seen a bigger pile of B.S.

I can sum up that entire article in the following phrase:

"We have created a big to-do because we want attention, and funding, and in order to do it we are snowing everyone with as many really large words as we can figure out, so that people think that it's true, even though they don't understand it, but in actuality, there really isn't anything of consequence here."

Who, precisely, do they think they have to fool? You don't have to be a graduate-level physicist to see though their obvious screen of jargon...
