kb7rky: Let's have a show of hands...anyone who thought Tasha was teh hawt? Anyone?

*raises hand*

kilgorn: never could stomach Voyager

It was OK. Not good. Not horrible. Just OK.

That show was an event in my house. No one and I mean no one was allowed to speak when it was on. And if you did, it better not have been a question about what was going on.

seekercuz: My roommate and I spend hours watching Star Trek on nearly a daily basis. We are both teachers, and when we get home around 3:00 ST:TNG comes on SPIKE. We finally start watching something different around 8:00 when Star Trek is no longer available. We get to see all of the various shows, from the Original to Enterprise.

/live in the far north
//no theatre, restaurant or entertainment
///must stress this is not an everyday thing
////screw it, I don't care what you think

Don't be ashamed! My dad does the same thing (and it is every day for him). He can quote ST like Farkers can quote Monty Python.

Hi Wil!

Oh well. What else did we watch at that time? Married With Chidren, ALF, Cosby Show, Cheers, SNL was still funny, M.A.S.H. was beginning syndication, Miami Vice....

hol E Shiat. 20 years? Alfarking ready?

Yep, Total Fail... the fat kid, Vern, was none other than Jerry O'Connell of Sliders fame.

Mini-Poll:

The best Trek Spinoff to date was:

A. Star Trek, The Next Generation
B. Star Trek, Deep Space Nine
C. Star Trek, Voyager
D. Enterprise

My answer? B.

TNG started out okay, faltered a bit, but caught its stride around Season 3.

Voyager never earned the right to be called Star Trek.

Enterprise has potential, but the audience prolly grew tired of the franchise.

DS9 hit it off real well from Day One, and never looked back...okay, maybe during "Trials and Tribble-ations", but still...

C'mon, did you really think I didn't know that Jerry O'Connell was the fat kid in that movie? When they talk about Jerry in that movie, he was always referred to as the fat kid. Now look at him, banging Rebecca Romijn and looking more fit than a lot of Farkers.

Oh well, here's a pick of my favorite Next Gen'r:

I was in Australia at the time, and it wasn't being broadcast there. I came back in time for the third season, but didn't start watching until about halfway through the fourth.

Wes was always my favourite character. I sorta identified with him, which will give you some idea of what sort of kid I was.

Now I can't watch the first season 'cause he's cringe-inducing. From what Wil's say in his TVSquad reviews, he seems to have the same reaction. It was the writers, dude. All the writers.

The Grinch: Hey! 'Conundrum' was listed, but this is 'Power Play'. Oh well, a better episode!

Agreed. It made more sense.

skinink: C'mon, did you really think I didn't know that Jerry O'Connell was the fat kid in that movie?

My bad.

To be honest, I thought the fat kid in Stand By Me was Corey Feldman's ear.

2007-09-29 01:07:37 AM
I like the one where they are caught in a time loop. It always starts with Picard just about to take a bite of his froot loops and Riker says "So what do you think about it?" Then Beverly comes in while Geordi was complaining about his water bed leaking and shorting out his alarm clock. There is some commotion and a phaser goes off that shoots Geordi. Worf bursts into the room with a security team and a bomb goes off making time loop again. Barclay decides to use this time to learn to play the piano, ice sculpt, and eventually gets Troi to fall in love with him.

The best episode ever!

Why does Marina Sirtis have man arms in that photo?

2007-09-29 01:09:50 AM
Wife and I are slowly going through all the episodes again. I taped them all (or thought I had - I'm still indexing all 48 tapes and I might have missed some). So far we're up to season 4, episode 13. Woman poses as Ardra, aka the devil, holding Ventax II to its contract.

I got all those plus a whole lot of the Flash, and Batman the Animated Series. Plus a few Ren & Stimpy and Red Dwarf thrown in for good measure.

I still think they should relaunch Star Trek on TV with Wesley as first officer or something. Or have him invent a new type of warp drive and get to run around (with a crew) in a rinky dinky prototype ship. that goes warp 20. and throw the man a few orion slave girls too.

Wow,...I was 14 *sooo old,..sooo lonely*
God I loved that show. I still love to have a re-run in the background during computer zoning..
TWO things wrong with the show though that were hard to overlook (you just had to love Trek to be able to deal with it):

I dunno man, those Orion girls are pretty hot.

hockeyfarker: I was 3. Suck it, grandpas.

I have you beat: I was 2, so get off my lawn! Re-watching the repeats, I would have to agree that seasons 1 and 2 were hit or miss, but The Next Generation was the best of all the Star Trek series. My rankings go like this: TNG > TOS > DS9 > VOY > Enterprise.

/At least Picard had the guts to admit he was bald.
//Not that he was French though.
///Yes, I know, we know the character was French; it's just a lot of people always wondered about the English accent.

Cassandra: I don't believe I've ever had French champagne before...

Benjamin: Oh, actually all champagne is French, it's named after the region. Otherwise it's sparkling white wine. Americans of course don't recognize the convention, so it becomes that thing of calling all of their sparkling white "champagne", even though by definition they're not.

Wayne: Ah yes, it's a lot like "Star Trek: The Next Generation". In many ways it's superior but will never be as recognized as the original.

kb7rky: "Trials and Tribble-ations"

Brilliant episode. Also, while I agree with you about DS9 being the best series, it was far from perfect. You know of what I speak.

Wow. Used to think she was hot in an exotic Mediterranean kinda way, but those are some seriously hairy man arms. I'd hate to see what her knees look like.

Before the show aired, I read the original writer's bible -- the guidelines that producers send out to prospective writers. The funniest thing was that the "Ferengi" were originally envisioned to be these ultra-scarey bad-asses living in shadows and whose very name evoked terror and caused bald captains to soil themselves.

Then they rapidly evolved into those dopey munchkins.

BEST TV SERIES EVAR!

Top episodes:

1. All Good Things
2. Yesterday's Enterprise
3. Lower Decks
4. The Offspring

Worst Episode:
1. The FINAL one with Wesley. Horrible, horrible negative crappy awful script.

/Seriously loved TNG
//Loved Voyager
///Didn't like TOS
////Hated Deep Space Nine
//Never "hated" Wil's character. Wesley was great in the later episodes sans his last (puke) episode.

I don't think I started watching this show until I was in my twenties, was too busy playing hockey. But yeah.... 20 years? You sure?

Sorry, hottest Star Trek woman is Linda Park.

By far.

2007-09-29 02:19:35 AM
OK...I was such a dork that I refused to watch TNG for the first two years. I was such a big fan of Kirk and Spock and the original that I thought the very idea of the new one was sacrilege.

In Manhattan, Kansas, it was on the Fox channel. As I grew to enjoy other Fox shows, and as I noticed the crowds that gathered to watch it in the basement of my dorm (Moore Hall), I eventually started watching it, too.

And yes, now I think Picard > Kirk.

/Darmok FTW

Manta537: I remember getting so excited for the show to start....

I was 19.

Kinda scary when you can say "20 years ago, I was..."

Holy cow! When I first read your post, I thought: "Jeez, Manta537 was YOUNG when TNG came out!" Then I did the math and remembered I turned 39 on June 1st 2007. 19+20=39. I was NINETEEN when TNG came out too???

Saturday nights with my friends at my apartment meant Smith and Wessons (White Russians with Coke), Chips + salsa + sour cream + guacamole, COPS, then TNG, then PARTAYing. Yes, there were girls there too.

At the end of "The Best of Both Worlds" part one, we all screamed when we realized it was going to be a cliffhanger. That next fall was a GOOOD party at Anthony's to watch Part 2!

Good times. :)

Not banging Robin Lefler (Ashley Judd) is unacceptable.

Just because Wes didn't don't mean Wil didn't. (You don't have to admit anything, Wil, I just hope you did!)

ST:TNG was the best of the franchise, IMHO. And ST:TOS was on all the time when I was very young. I remember the cartoon on Saturday morning, same music as superfriends.. And I was legal drinking age when TNG came out. I remember getting a case to watch the premier. Anyhow, I guess what I'm trying to say is:

Stop trying to make me feel old, because I ain't!
