I was in Jr. High, over my friend's house, when we watched the first episode. I probably watched two or three more episodes until I got bored with it until 10 years later.

Twenty years ... amazing that the "where and when" memories are so vivid! I mean, heck, are you guys actually remembering, or are you maybe covering for that which the senility has erased?

lol

I've seen every episode more than a few times and I don't even own any on DVD...

Best episode, IMO, is "Darmok. (new window)" Any episode that forced the audience to think and learn along with the characters is a golden prize worth seeing.

Plus, Ashley Judd was in it.... ;)

I'd like to point out the difference between hot regulars of the show, and guest appearances. Generally when we talk about hot Star Trek women, we're referring to the former.

I've always been partial to this as a one time appearance:

I want to go back in time and kill Rick Berman in a horribly, painfully protracted way, then make it so it never happened. Then do it again. Over and over.

And I can't express how glad I was that they recognized that for a spectacularly bad idea, and dropped it.

Another first season element that I was glad to see go away: Picard's endless tedious sermonizing.
"Captain, we are establishing standard orbit around the Planet of Something Roddenberry Doesn't Like."
"Ah, yes, Number One. It's hard to believe that once Earth was held captive to the insidious awfulness of The Thing Roddenberry Doesn't Like. Truly we are fortunate to live in an age in which humanity has evolved past such stupidity."

markie_farkie: My all-time favorite was the one where Picard lived an entire life on a long-extinct planet, thanks to a probe's mind-control beam thingie..

Agreed. Also, a close second for favorite(s) were the one's my wife and I dubbed "the Riker one's". Basically, any episode where Riker was the focus and he was doing some whacked out stuff.

Ah! Also, the episode where they are playing poker and the same thing happens over and over and over again, until they can predict what cards will be delt. Some sort of time rift. That's also a favorite.

With the possible exception of Jeri Ryan (who was on a dumb show), the hottest babe in in any Star Trek was Ensign Ro.
pics? (blackberry doesn't do those so well)

Hottest? has to be Yars sister, can't remember the episode, or her name, God I'm old but the hottest by far.

TOS > TNG > DS9 > (ENT,VOY)

Enterprise and Voyager sucked so bad that it's hard to rank them. They both had some stellar episodes- but those were the exception. I think I personally hate Enterprise more for getting my hopes up and having the shiattiest theme song EVER.

Just linking to that makes me feel dirty. Trust me, you'll wish it were a Rick Roll.

I loved Deep Space 9- but when I watched it, it was called Babylon 5. Sure, the effects and the sets sucked (it's fun to count how many times they redress the same set in a single episode). But the writing blows pretty much everything else out of the water. One of the greatest shows ever. DS9 was okay for awhile, but eventually turned into DS90210 and I turned it off for good.

That said, "Trials and Tribbleations" is still a great episode.
