It used to be "In Dusty We Trusty", well now it's "Lou's Gonna Put it in Their Vagoo!"

Go Cubs

That was at Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers also led the NL central division for most of the year until late August, early September.

I was at the Wed. night Brewers/Cards game and was at the game with a friend who doesn't get to many live baseball games. They turn to me at one point and say, "so it's pretty crazy to think that people died on this field like six years ago, isn't it?" My observation that "yes, and 25 more people have been dying on that field for two months" was met with confused indifference.

/Crane joke was probably a bit much

Even as a Cub fan, I liked Yost up until the other night when he intentionally hit Pujols. That was the downfall of whatever chance they had left. He let personal feelings get ahead of his team.

I like that he seems to be a good clubhouse manager... the players like him, they always seem to have a good attitude, you never hear of strife or "players-only meetings".

But I don't like that he seems to isolate himself in the dugout... he stands on the other side of the dugout, leaning against the far corner, and the coaches have to walk over to him to tell him things they've noticed. And then he acts but says that he's the manager, it's 100% his decision.

If that's the case, then shouldn't he be solely responsible for this collapse? If this were any other business and the sales figures plummeted, if the man at the top claimed to have sole say over business decisions, then he'd be gone.

Oh Cubbies, let's finally get done with this curse once and for all. Let's erase 2003 from our memories and make this playoff run spectacular. Given that since June 23 we have had the best record in the NL, and also given that the Cards won last year, I don't think you can really count them out in the first round.
To the Cubs haters, I will direct you to my post in the "Completely Useless By September" thread from yesterday.
Anything can happen in the playoffs. And if you just wanna badmouth the Cubs cause we had a bad century, then what the hell are you doing wasting your time badmouthing a sports team? We already know our team's history, we've had the pain of the longest World Series drought, and that was intensified after the BoSox and White Sox won the series. Let us enjoy our good times in peace. Or at least tell us why your team is so much better rather than the random "fark the cubs" and "cubs suck" posts.
You'd think people would have something better to do than badmouth a freakkin' sports team (even though this is Fark).
As for me? I celebrate the Cubs getting to the playoffs, because it really is a big deal for me, as well as every other Cubs fan I am sure. In my short life I haven't been able to witness such an occasion very often, but it does fill me with pride, happiness, and excitement for the coming playoffs.

/HEY CHICAGO, WHATDYASAY?
//Will travel the 4 hours from Toledo to Chicago to party if the Cubs happen to get to/win the WS. Law school can happen any time, but the Cubs in substantial post season play happens only every so often, you gotta take advantage of it.

I may be wrong, but wasn't The NasKar a White Sox fan just a couple of years ago?

I thought that sort of two-timing was frowned upon. Maybe it's just frontrunneritis.

Whoops. By The NasKar I meant, of course, The NaSkAr.

My apologies for any confusion.

OK, couple things before i go to bed.
I was at gingerman tonight (next to Metro) getting a drink, Cubs win. I was trying to get to the the Killers of comedy show to see Beetlejuice, but it got cancelled cause of the win (& brewers loss).
Clark and Addison had such a crowd that they had to cancel the show.
I kinda wish they woulda clinched tomorrow now. That being said-GO CUBS.
Fark is known for Cubs hate, so I say to the haters, FARK YOU.
I don't give a shiat if we're out in the first round, this town has real fans.

Still sitting at home with the Cubs hate. Don't worry, you're Yanks will be in there (or whatever fairweather team you'll go for in the playoffs)

And we're the first team in the league to clinch, amazing as it sounds. (Beat the D-Backs on time.)

Now we just need to start a few rookies so we can set up our rotation for whoever we end up facing.

But then I thought that their inevitable chokage will bring me pleasure.

Sox fan, right?kraut7: Hold the fark on buddy, you need to pick a team. You don't get to root for the White Sox 2 years ago and then jump on the Cubs bandwagon in 2007. Don't even make me go back in time and dig out your posts when the White Sox were on their way to the World Series.

Why the hell not?

Everybody in the Chicago area should have this kind of mentality.

I'm a Cubs fan, but I was rooting for the White Sox to win it all when they made the playoffs and the Cubs didn't.

I think in my inebriation I summoned some clairvoyance. Obviously they're just the NL Central champs. But fark it, I think they'll do it.

That goat can eat my dirty underwear.

I think they should have Bartman throw out the first pitch at their first home game. That poor guy has suffered enough.

machoprogrammer Of course they have a shot. None of the teams in the playoffs have "owned" them this year. None of the NL teams that will make the playoffs are all that good either.

Btw, HAHAHA Colorado. Take a lead before talking smack, Rockies fans.

You called it aquigley!!

If the Cubs already clinched; then why do I have to watch them today on FOX instead of seeing a more important game? (phils/nats)

Everyone knows Chicago fans are sad bandwagoners.
Fark chicago fans doubly.

Cubs fans are eternal optimists while sox fans are eternal pessimists. But these people in this city are not bandwagon jumpers. Cubs have sucked for years, but they always have sell outs and road support.

Bullshiat. Is this your first time on fark? Both Naskar and Aquigly were self-proclaimed die-hard sox fans a few years ago. Now that the sox suck? OH, well the cubs were always their REAL favorite team.

Right.

There is a chicago kid in my program. He used to wear a Chicago Bears hat every day last season. After their abortion of a super bowl? Hat disappeared. Eventually he started wearing a White Sox hat but then took that off once their season was clearly going nowhere. Now? I saw him in a cubs shirt just yesterday.

Of course you were. And when both teams suck, you don't hear a peep out of chicago farkers. The drop of in bears talk from the start of the season till now has been a freefall.

I really don't care since I root for the Reds, eternally damned from the playoffs thanks to the Curse of Pete Rose.

fark the Cards.

but hey, like I said, congrats to the Cubs.

the NL Central should be demoted to AAA, but if it is gonna stick around I'd prefer to see the Cubs win to any other NL CEntral team.
