Interesting theory. In fact, the preview showed both, but the headline at first appeared without the "!". It was then modded by the Mod, as it were....

And 'Merica being "god's country" does that mean since Mexico is the New Florida this year we should expect an even larger influx of immigrants?

God does not hate Mexicans.

And God does not make hurricanes.

God is a fictional character featured in a book written by mortal men.

Hurricanes are a force of nature that occur mostly in the summer and fall.

Well Mr snobby athiest Weatherman, we have yet to see one in the Northern Hemisphere in February. Maybe you should pump up that global warming and prove us wrong.

I wish more hurricanes would hit where I live. Each year older that my dad gets, the more alarmed he becomes with drought and the state of his lawn. He starts watching the Weather Channel all the time and shaking his head. And around August whenever I call him he won't let a conversation go by without bringing up the state of rainfall at the time. A hurricane would rock his world.

A hurricane would rock MY world, having never been in one and I'm in the right place for them, if just a bit tangentally.

No. It is not to be.

Oh. Right. Right. My bad. Because you probably ASSume I'm some xtian fundie. Might have been all those drugs you admitted to in the other thread. Or was it the NSF-anything pic link in your profile. You're either A)A Troll. B)Crazy or C)Not worth responding to anymore. I think Fark needs a D)All of the above.

Well I can say the same for some Thai and Indian. You're going to feel it coming and going. And I've had bad (soured) sushi, so the blame can either be on the item or the process. I eat at the B-King too sometimes. I don't biatch about what people eat. My arse disagrees sometimes. OW.

Well Fanblade,

why do you hate me?

2007-09-28 02:51:24 AM
OK, so fanblade is a pussy, unless you can give me info to the contrary

2007-09-28 02:57:09 AM
Two category 5 hurricanes this year, but neither of them hit the US, so they didn't attract much attention despite this being the first time it's happened since records began (global warming). One man's news is another man's fark--still trying to find the formula for newsworthiness of murders depending on their location, the nature of the victims, aggravating circumstances, etc. Its satirized the NYT but applies equally to all news reporting.

2007-09-28 03:09:20 AM
and nobody responded but me. OK, shiat happens right?

2007-09-28 03:40:05 AM
The big story for the US isn't Lorenzo, it's Karen. This is a tropical storm that's currently getting pulled apart in a bad area for development. If it survives the next 3 days though, it's going to strengthen until it hits the US.

www.nhc.noaa.gov

Which it looks like it will. If this happened, it would be at least 10 days from now and therefor very difficult to predict. That being said, the conditions are right for this to be one of those exceedingly rare storms that actually makes landfall in the US NorthEast.

2007-09-28 03:46:25 AM
Of course, I don't mean to downplay what Mexico has been going through. This year has been unprecedented in a number of ways, and most of the brunt has fallen on them. Luckily though, we have not yet seen a major storm hit a metropolitan area this year. Lorenzo is only a cat 1, and is making landfall in a rural area. Karen could be very different.

2007-09-28 04:02:23 AM
Call me crazy, but I want to see a 'cane hit without having to travel to see it. I'm a nasty weather/natural disaster junkie. I wish no real harm on people that have to deal, but you don't know unless you've been through one.

///all I need is one.

2007-09-28 04:23:14 AM
So we have 2 storms - Humberto and Lorenzo - that went from tropical depression to Hurricane in about 24 hours or less. They probably could have strengthened more, except they made landfall soon after. Add in Cat-5 storms Dean and Felix, and I'd say that Gulf Coast residents wont' be out of danger until Thanksgiving.

It is this kind of post that has taken all of the fun out of Fark. Seriously. You poke a little fun at a very religious country being smacked down by hurricanes and someone feels the need to piss on the cheerios by arguing whether there is a god or not. The nickname fits.
