I'll bet this display of energy really pisses off the people in California.

I live in St.Louis and am familiar with the Arch. There are elevators that zig-zag their way up and down the legs taking people to an observation room at the top. I'm wondering if there were any electrical problems from the strike. Pacemakers shorting out, etc.

Another cool thing about the Arch is that every now and then, some pilot (small aircraft) flies between the legs. Does look tempting.

Back in the 80's, some dork decided to skydive and land on the top. He actually made it but before he could jettison his chute, a gust of wind caught it and pulled him down one of the legs. He literally slid to his death 630 feet below. Landed in front of a bunch of tourists. "Look mommy!!"

More boring Arch info. It is as wide at the base as it is tall. Yawn.

Were there any Immortals in the area? Looks like a Quickening to me.

Forget electrical problems. I'm wondering if anyone was in the arch when it was struck. Imagine that point of view.

There aren't any Immortals in St. Louis now...THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Is it just coincidence that Missouri is where Ms. Cleo is getting sued?

No matter what is said, any picture with that kitty becomes funny.

I second that Prolauk....

This is part of the SDI isn't it?
The laser-shooting arch will defend and watch over St.Louis.
Damned war-like Americans.

Or this one:

When are they going to build the second arch and paint them gold?

I used to work at the arch, and it gets struck by lightining all the time, having a stainless steel skin as it does and being the tallest thing in st. louis. The top is also lined with a bunch of lightning rods to attract the lightning, so thats probably what it was really striking.

Heh the kitty is hilarious. STL is the bomb! M-COAST!!! I'm from Creve Coeur, home of the famous man-made Creve Coeur Lake, and Mike Talayna's 30 inch pizza (eat it with another person in an hour and it's free).

Lightning struck the Sears Tower in Chicago last night, too. I saw the coolest video of it on the news a few minutes ago. Yes, video! I don't know what the odds are of catching that on tape. Maybe any time there's a lightning storn, some local TV station dispatches a cameraman...just in case.

This came from the live 'Casino Cam' one of the local stations have perched on one of the many gambling boats in the STL area. It's hella coincidence it captured this photo when it did

BTW, Groucho..saw that video...also hella cool

Is that a real pic? Neatness.
