Why would they make him pay for the title if he already paid them to build the house? They said that he never offered to pay for the title, but unless I'm missing something he gave them cash to build the house, they built it, he moved in to it, they would not give him the title unless he paid for it? Either way, that's pretty cool that he got a chainsaw and went nuts, take that new home.

Yeah, I wasn't aware that carbon monoxide poisoning was a chronic condition unless you're really, really stupid.

Also, I'm amazed this crazy old coot didn't hit an electrical line and zap himself out of his misery while he was busy hacking through drywall and siding.

Yeah... Can you suffer from CO poisoning chronically? Must be referring to some sort of sequelae.

The only thing that saves this horribly-written article from "FAIL" is the comedic value it provides.

My brother's neighbor was annoyed about a tree growing
on the property-line and split the tree in half removing
his half of the tree, leaving my brother with half a tree.

Or so he thought.

It turned out that the property line was not where he thought,
so the neighbor has half of a tree growing a few feet inside his
yard.

bugmn99: How exactly do you repair something like that? Is that duct tape I see??

If he really did cut through all of the outside framing members I don't think that house will be standing for too long on its own.

2007-09-25 12:54:21 PM
I am sure he is knowledgeable about such things, but in my country we have "contracts". It is a document that explains what is expected of both parties and who pays what and such. That being said I still admire him. The couple holding the title clearly underestimated his response. Don't try to screw people out of their money....your house may get cut in half.

2007-09-25 12:58:29 PM
wait, if he's not supposed to live past august, and it's now september (almost october)...???

2007-09-25 12:58:46 PM
Amazing that he got all the way around. You'd think that at some point he'd think, "Hmm. Maybe this isn't such a good idea."
Of course, he may have just been killing some time waiting for the farmer's market to open.

schief2: Also, I'm amazed this crazy old coot didn't hit an electrical line and zap himself out of his misery while he was busy hacking through drywall and siding.

If he cut the whole house in half, he would have HAD TO cut some electrical lines. Guess those GFCIs were working. Lucky he didn't hit the 220 unregulated coming in. Either that, or they hadn't turned the power on yet.

Eh, it was an oral contract with the voices in his head, probably. And how dare that HOA do that to him.

/we could still turn this into an HOA thread since people don't RTFA.

FTFA:The Bowers said they would have sold the title to Rodney Rogers, but he never offered money to buy it.

Why the hell do they think he was giving them money, then?

I'm glad these pricks are now stuck with two halves of a whole house. Since they wanted to keep it so bad, let them figure out how to fix it. This Rodney fellow is supposed to die within the next year, anyway. In Ohio, you can't get money from a dead man, especially if he doesn't leave any real property behind.

So, the guy works hard his whole life, now has nothing to show for it, and just destroyed the one thing he was going to have to show for it. Bonus: he made himself homeless.

This situation is a prime example of why it is not a good idea to enter into verbal agreements with people in excess of a modest amount of money (such as lending $300 to a friend -- Joe you still owe me that damn money).

A written contract is important. It protects both parties, and if either side objects to a contract, take your business (and your friendship) elsewhere.

We also don't know both sides of this story. I'd be interested to hear the Bowers' take on this. There has to be a reason they're holding the house hostage.

2007-09-25 01:58:41 PM
When he gets out of prison, he wont have a pot to piss in, or a window to throw it out of.
