"the harder sounds of northern Europe (Belgium, The Netherlands) and the softer sounds of the south (Italy, Spain)"

His grasp of European geography is amazing. About as good as subby's. Since when is Europe = Paris and parts of France, subby?
Fail.

bah ... this is armature crap.
What I've been able to find sounds like very bad late 80s cyberpunk.
I'll stick with VnV Nation, Project Pitchfork, Assemblage 23, Covenant and the like.

Why do the euros and latins always seem to be a couple decades behind us in pop culture?

I still see hispanics with mullets like it's the coolest haircut.

I can't help but notice that the whooping crowd around the male dancers is comprised completely of dudes.

Last time I was in Europe, the hairstyle with all the rage was the mohawk top, usually bleached, with a mullet in the back. I shiat you not. These guys were wearing thousand euro suits with a bleached mohawk mullet.

I think you're thinking of Technotronic subby. As far as I can tell Tecktonik is just a new label for a redux of a style that's been around for 25 years. Call it Tecktonik, electro, nu electro, whatever, it's basically the same.

Saw VNV Nation a few months ago in Chicago. It was amazing; the vibe in the audience and the band was incredible. And One was alright, I suppose. Not my exact taste.

Also just saw Imperative Reaction a few weeks ago. They were alright; not as good as their cds. Combichrist rocked the farking house though.

wow its a bunch of raver douche bags spinnging glowsticks...but with no glow sticks. Welcome to 1998 guys...get of the E and get a life.

I never understood the idea of forming a "Circle" so ppl could dance. Here's a fresh idea. How about you all dance....TOGETHER!!! I know i know you cant cheer your friend on with his killer late 90's dance moves but hey at least you dont look like an idiot all by yourself.

So it's like the hip hop "dance offs" of the late 80s, only done by dorky white guys who can't actually dance...

One thing I will say about the French, is that they have absolutely no fear of the ridicule. It can be a good thing (great slapstick comedies, deadpan jokes, self deprecation), and a bad thing (tektonik).

And I would like to add, as a French speaker (and language aficionado), that I hate that seemingly new trend of taking a perfectly good word, misspell it, and give it a definition that has nothing at all to do with the original word (i.e. parkour, tektonik).

i saw that show in DC. My 5th time seeing VNV. Their shows are orgasmic every time. Ronan needs to hit the gym and learn about anti-perspirants... or change shirts between sets. Tired of getting sweat spray (Sweat spray from the girl from Lords of Acid is another matter) Anywho... awesome band, great shows.

And One was a joke. i'm not sure if they meant to be.

They look like they're glowstick raving with a hint of VOGUEING.

Vogueing is a style of dance that is executed mostly by very gay queenlike men. Don't ask me how I know about this.

Seems like they gay circuit party dance styles have gotten mainstream.

Here compare for yourself.

no kidding. I always knew he was a bigger guy, but I guess I wasn't expecting... that. I wasn't up in the front though, so I can't attest for the sweat-related problems. I was actually disappointed that And One was going to be there, since Imp. Reaction was on the European leg, but I ended up getting to see them anyway.
Now... if I could just see me some Feindflug and Grendel live in concert, I think I could die happy (already saw KMFDM last year, so that's off the list).
