Letting a one-dimensional team who's head coach couldn't win a Pee Wee Championship come back from a 21-point deficit and needing two P.I. calls and a very controversial official time for measurement to stop the clock in order to win doesn't mean you're "back" and that your new coach is the second coming of Bear Bryant, 'Bama r-tards.

I swear to FSM, Alabama fans are some of the worst in the country when it comes to hype and expectations.

You had a great coach 30 years ago - get over it.

Hehe, but they're still terrified of little old UAB.

That was pretty funny to see, mighty Alabama scared of UAB and afterwards watching Alabama fans knowingly lie as they tried to cover for the school they claim has won 18,328,348 national titles.

Or watching Alabama fans try to make it look as if their job was actually one that people wanted.

Hang On Voltaire, I'm looking specifically at you pal.

Alabama fans are the most delusional college football fans I've ever come across. They honestly believe they have the most desirable college football program in the country, and Tuscaloosa is a nice place to live.

Really. They honestly believe that.

How 32mil 8 years changes someone:

From ESPN:

A chronology of comments about Nick Saban taking the head coaching job at Alabama:

Nov. 27:
Saban: "When I was in college it was always about coming to the pros. This is the challenge I wanted. I had a good college job. Why would I have left that if I was going to be interested in other college jobs?

"I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finished the job here, so why would I be interested in something else?"

Dec. 5:
Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga (after giving Saban a vote of confidence): "I am completely sold on Nick Saban. I would admit we made a mistake if we did make a mistake, but I firmly believe in Nick Saban."

Dec. 7:
Saban: "I'm flattered that they may have been interested in me, but it never really progressed, because we just never let it progress."

Dec. 21:
Saban: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. ... I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach here."

Dec. 27:
Saban: "I'm just making a rule to never comment on something like that again because every time you comment on it, it just makes for another story. So I'm not going to comment on it five years from now, and I'm not going to comment on it next week."

Jan. 4:
Saban: "What I realized in the last two years is that we love college coaching because of the ability that it gives you to affect people, young people. ... If I knew that my heart was someplace else in what I wanted to do, I don't think it would be fair to the [Dolphins] organization if I stayed."

i have no opinion on alabama, i'm not particularly fond of georgia, i'm neutral on the miami dolphins, but something about Nick Saban makes me want to punch the tv every time i see his face.

now if you'll excuse me, i'm off to put an icepack on my hand.

They can both live off a dead Bear for 30 years.

It is really funny how that for a team that most College Football Farkers say is worthless, Alabama sure seems to rile up a lot of spirit. If Alabama beats UGA this weekend, they will be undefeated going into the LSU game (Bama will still lose to LSU). At this point, I'm more worried about Houston than anyone else on the schedule up to that point.

If they keep winning, they'll be as hated as USC.

That's what Alabama fans do best. They talk about how great of a program they are and how much respect they deserve no matter what their record is.

They can't pull themselves out of the 60s and 70s long enough to realize college football left them behind a long time ago.

Alabama football only gets respect in Alabama. In the rest of the country it's treated like the mid-level SEC team it is.

Again, you had a great coach and a great run - 30 years ago. Let it go.

We all know the HoV bleeds Crimson and White, but ye olde Fark FAQs state:

Calling out of other Farkers (in headlines): As odd as this may sound, not everyone wants attention on Fark. Specifically mentioning a fellow Farker in a headline or post (where the named Farker isn't participating) generates attention to a Farker who didn't intend it. This is not welcome on this site.

No offense intended, Woody but you actually have to wait for him to show up before we can mock him. Well, I can't, the SEC refs made sure Vandy never had a chance this year against Bammer.

Alabama fans are the radical Muslims of the college football world. A long time ago, when the rest of college football sucked, the kicked ass and took names and had a true leader. The world moved on, their fortunes went down, everyone else's went up, but all they can do is shout about their glory days and call everyone else an infidel. They want to turn the way back machine to the ancient past and pretend their time hasn't happened.

If they weren't drunk all the time, they would probably even blow people up.

Still, they don't suck as much as Auburn fans.

Also, I don't see them getting past Auburn this year...even though we suck.

Actually, I think MState has a pretty solid team this year. I mean, they hung with LSU for a half and I don't think the score is a good reflection of how the game was played.

I'll say this. Auburn may not be having a good year, but mark my words: we WILL surprise someone this year. We still have Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama to play yet. My money is on either Georgia or Alabama.

Damn, there's a lot of hate here.

I am not, nor are most other Alabama fans delusional about the Tide winning a championship of any kind this season. After the way the team finished last year a seven or eight win season would be considered quite an accomplishment to most of us. We are very excited about the direction the program is headed and with good reason. Bama fans are loud, that's a fact; there's no denying that we love our football team. I do know a lot of our spirit is misinterpreted as being arrogant and I know a lot of other college football fans truly hate the Crimson Tide and the fans. I frankly don't care how other people feel about us, just as I'm sure most of you really don't care how non-fans of your team feel about you. I honestly don't understand why we seem to draw so much ire from everyone else, but it is what it is. It would be nice if the rest of the college football world didn't feel that way, but I won't attempt to change any minds, I know that is impossible and, as I said, it doesn't really matter to me or the rest of Bama nation.

The Arkansas game was one that Bama would have lost had it taken place in any of the previous few seasons, but the team fought and found a way to overcome a fourth quarter deficit (granted, said deficit was their own creation) and win. I've read and heard a lot about the officials handing the game to the Tide...the same kind of shiat I read and hear from different people all the time when most any team wins a close game, especially one as hated as Alabama.

Bama needed to get a top tier head coach and that's exactly what they (we) got with Nick Saban. Apparently that has further pissed off a lot of people...I truly don't give a damn who is pissed off or who hates the Crimson Tide or the fans. The fact is Bama has a great history and what appears to be a pretty good opportunity for further improvement. The Alabama of the present is much improved and the future looks even brighter.

Bama will most likely lose several games this season and Georgia might very well be one of them. If it is, so be it. The 2007 Crimson Tide is the best version that has been fielded in a number of years.

It's not hatred, it's jealousy.

Mississippi State hasn't won jack. Ever. Its fans can sit down now.

UAB is technically a division of Alabama, same board of directors and everything, WoodyHayes. No money would be gained by that move.

I dont expect to win everything from here on out, but I do see us being competitive all the time and a threat to win it all consistently. Threat as in dark horse or better.

Now that is doable.

Bill Curry went
7-5
9-3
10-2

as coach of Bama and they threw rocks thru his window.

Of course, he didnt beat Auburn. Ever. Not as coach of GT, Bama, or UK. 0 for 12.

He did beat them his senior year at GT as a player and as a freshman, if he played that year.

I work for The University of Alabama, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies...

I was raised in Michigan, so I thought I had seen rabid fans before moving here (Michigan vs. Michigan State weekend often led to fistfights in our little corner of the state), but Northerners can't really understand how Southerners feel about their football (with the exception of Steeler fans). I've been to games at VT, LSU, and Bama, and each is batscat crazy in their own way.

Bama fans, however, are crazy in the "I'm delusional, and likely to believe that a mannequin at Walmart is a VC regular and I've got to knife him" kind of way. I mean, The Bear speaks to the home crowd via videotape before each home game, and people literally hush their neighbor, point to the screen, and say "Quiet, Bear's talkin'." A coworker of mine caused a fraternity member to cry last week by stating that John Parker Wilson is a bad quarterback anywhere else in the country, and a merely average one in the SEC. Grown man, crying. Over a nancyboy with a bad haircut who, let's be honest, can't play quarterback.

Then again, when you live in Alabama, there isn't much else to be excited about. Kind of a desolate cultural wasteland.
