Mercedes A-Class knockoff...not that it's a bad thing, but almost all the Japanese have done for 30 years (stylistically) is take 5-10 year-old German designs and cop them, removing feel and adding more reliable electrical bits.

2007-09-21 11:14:33 AM
Still, hotter looking than the last one. Also, note the design language that's carrying over from the new 2008 Accord -- that grille is way better looking than the old one.

Weirdest-proportioned car this side of the Atlantic. Pure function over form. Nothing wrong with that, and I like the car, but we're just talking aesthetics here.

I liked the super-boxy previous one, but that rounded-off turd just lost the plot on "quirkiness"

Toyota is trying way too hard. I call their new design mantra "focus-group testicles"

Really? Cause I thought it was the rabid consumers who think that what care they drive matters that were doing that.

Why is insurance such a problem? It's an economy car isn't it? The last time I checked they were making about 150 bhp, and had 0-60 times in the 8s range.

I personally thought that the Honda Element was a boxy POS. The Pontiac Aztek and nearly every Scion take the cake though.

Screw you guys. I like the Fit! And the Prius. And I liked the farking Aztek, too, before the fashion police decided that all cars should look the same.

Is it so much to ask that there be a little variety?

What kind of asshole idiots actually identify themselves by the car they drive?

If this car is the best solution for you economically, then take it and piss on those who judge you by what your car looks like.

Not sure what you are all complaining about.

My 07 Honda Fit rocks.. great gas mileage, tons of cargo space, lots of room for my XXL body.

What's not to like?

But it is no longer manufactured. It doesn't count.

A while ago, there was something about the Toyota FJ Sport combining the beauty of the Pontiac Aztek and the efficiency of the Honda Element

Because I'm in Phoenix.

We have the highest theft rate and red-light-running rate in the country. Also, we have more uninsured drivers than most states because of our proximity to Mexico. Insurance in Phoenix is outrageous.

Don't believe me? Go to any insurance company's website and get a free quote for YOUR car in ZIP-code 85018.

I love the new bB (xB) here in the states. Great car, roomy interior, awesome gas mileage and loaded for cheap. They have one in Japan with a really cool audio package that has ambient lighting attached to the 12 or so speakers that pulse to the music being played. They have the roominess of an SUV and 35mpg. What can you hate about it?

2007-09-21 02:04:27 PM
People who think cars are just utilitarian transportation are always entitled to their opinion, but have no place in a subjective conversation about car styling.

/just saying
//plenty of other threads to talk about merits of fuel economy

2007-09-21 02:04:42 PM
Seeing as most people consider a car "good looking" only if it looks like EVERY SINGLE OTHER FREAKING SEDAN ON THE ROAD, I'm proud to drive a car that is considered ugly.

I can't wait for the price of the Fit to come down just a little bit more. Nice little car for my wife, with great fuel economy.

Maybe that's why I like how the cars "everybody hates" look. As an engineer, I probably have a tendency to see pure functionality as more aesthetic than something that looks like a good idea with a lumpy piece of sheet metal bolted to it.

There was a new bridge near my last house that drove me nuts. They bolted a bunch of crap to the sides in sort of mock cable-and-arch design, but it was obvious it was just decoration and not structural. It looked terrible to me, like cars with "sporty" styling that adds nothing but weight or drag.

Still, everybody likes what they like.

A.k.a., I bet that thing 'fits' nicely inside the wheel well of an SUV at 75 MPH.

Coming in 2008:

www.motorauthority.com

blog.sloaninnovations.com

What's special about these cars? Both are made by companies owned (or formerly owned) by Mercedes Benz. That's not to say that either of these cars are ugly (see the 2008 scion xb above for your quota of ugly car viewing for the day)but that they are from two different ends of the spectrum. The smart car has 3 cylinders and the challenger has 8 cylinders....I can list differences between them all day long but uh....I won't.

2007-09-21 02:10:08 PM
The Aztek is ugly as sin, but the Scion 'box', the Honda Element and Honda Ridgeline are definately in the same class when it comes to ugly.

Then again, Apple could learn a thing or two from Honda when it comes to raving fanatic fanboys.
