Modest Me, well you see FARK is just like a jury, we don't get ALL the evidence and what we get it tainted by a reporter (liberal arts) but in this case we have video. The video is damning as all hell.

2007-09-15 03:26:14 AM
sillysillysilly: in the video you hear the cop who was beating him on the head say, "what did you fall down" I wonder how many other times he has been accused of this.....

The officer isnt the one who said that. All the officer said was something like "can you transport him please" to the other officer.

2007-09-15 03:29:23 AM
If you don't know the entire situation nor have you read the available research on it, then why the hell are you saying anything about this topic?

Modest Me: Fnord and Cerebral Ballsy...

You guys have no farking idea what you're talking about. It's not the fact that " oh nobody likes him. Lets pick on the little old guy."
This asshole has robbed the people of their money (refer back to ducttape20212021's comments). As for settling it mano y mano.... better to let a professional handle it w/a professional ass kicking. As for the comment about letting the cops kick my ass... I don't think you'd ever catch me dead stealing that much money from that many people. The town's people have a right to be pissed at him. He completely deserved it.

Think about what you type before you actually go ahead and type it. You'll make a lot less of an ass hat out of yourselves.

So I guess it is ok to just lynch people then? I mean, screw the legal/ justice system. And if the people were so mad at him, why did he get re-elected? You should take your own advice. Think before you type asshat. By your logic several of us should drive the 40 minutes it would take us to get to Roseland and put the boots to Tiller, because he ticked us off for abusing his power. I mean, I would never be caught dead abusing my power, so he will deserve anything he has coming to him. Do me a favor. Get off the internet. Forever. Go get your teeth fixed, divorce your sister, finish the 5th grade, and discover deodorant. Asshat.

Mattyb710 er...the video I saw didnt show the guy doing anything but lying on the ground pinned down by a blue whale with a badge and being beaten by said whale. You wanna defend a cop defend a cop not this fat ass pathetic waste of civic funds. No farking way this lard ass is protecting anything but a grease soaked bag issued from the local fast food joint (or fastest depending on just how far out in the sticks this shiat hole is). watch that video again that lard ass took that guy down from behind like he had a double cheeseburger stuck to the back of his neck that could only be released by beating the shiat out of the side of his head. then LIED ballfaced to the same camera that filmed the assault.

2007-09-15 03:37:03 AM
I'm not saying its the correct thing to do, i was just pointing out maybe why he did what he did(the officer).

2007-09-15 03:37:58 AM
Modest Me: After doing a bit a research I agree that the Snyder guy is a dick. It doesn't change the fact that the cop used excessive force, attacked him physically without provocation, and tried to cover it up by lying. While again, I think the Snyder guy is a dick. I hope he sues the Roseland police department and the town of Roseland and get a huge judgment.

Being a dick doesn't not make you immune to the law.

I am not someone quick to defend criminals. But I am trained in how to deal with them. Our training is that "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" His comment at the end does not deserve a beat down, no matter who's side you are on. He is making progress to the door; Someone continues the argument by making a verbal jab at him that he responds to. If we follow your logic the other officer should have jumped the woman and the man for their comments and beat her over the head (big man aren't you).....since what you say can deserve a club to the head.

We are taught to not react to words but rather actions. The officers actions to shove him to the ground does not constitute resisting. Nothing on the video shows him resisting; only some wish to infer resistance. you do however see him laying flat on the ground taking repeated blows to the head. ANY blow to the head is considered deadly force. Did this situation require use of deadly force? Or any force at all. How about a wrist lock? Those are very effective "pain compliance" techniques. We are all taught (military and civilian) to not go more than one level above the actors. Clearly this person said something; not did something. I have the feeling that you will find similar complaints against the officer that their internal affairs found nothing wrong with....however it shows a pattern of behavior.

2007-09-15 03:46:09 AM
Heh, he's being investigated and it will be dropped with no action towards him. The "investigations" mean jack and shiat. Snyder may sue the town and even win. But the cop will still be working this same job five years from now.

2007-09-15 03:46:53 AM
I live in South Bend, and I think they both need to be thrown in jail. Snyder will probably sue the town out of existence now, and it will either be dissolved or incorporated into South Bend. This place has really been the laughing stock of Northern Indiana for about 4 or 5 years now.

I'll bet that the perso who shot the video will be a likely candidate for the next beatdown.

2007-09-15 03:50:01 AM
Ted Penn is either a moron or a typical witness trying to make sense of events after the fact even though they didn't see everything go down. Everything Ted said was totally inaccurate. Guy says smartass remark to cop about being a bully and cop shoves him out the door for a punch fest.

ducttape2021 & Modest Me: The more I read about Roseland the more I think they should turn it into a TV show.

stevec2usa: First, after reading about this "town's" finances, it's apparent they are incapable of governing themselves. The town needs to be dissolved.

Second, these are not "police officers" but, instead, are "cop wannabees." The only reason they have continued to "work" for weeks without pay is that this is the only way they can continue to wear a badge and carry a gun. If they have actually graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and are working for free, it's because they aren't qualified to work for a real police department.

As for the "beat-down," the Indiana State Police are investigating.

Agreed!

TheAfterbirthTycoon: Oh I'm sorry I don't have a Phd on this city. Clearly one would have to be well versed in the local history, geographical layout, average temperature, major export and who had what for dinner last night to comment on A VIDEO OF A COP BEATING SOMEONE.

That was pretty funny, I actually LOL'd.

Once again Farkers are missing the bigger picture and go right for the cop bashing. Do any of you find it just a bit disturbing that an elected official is removed by force from a council meeting?

Excellent point! Because after all, if he needed to be removed from the council meeting, then it follows that he surely also needed to be punched in the face a few times while lying on his face on the the ground with a cop sitting on his back. How could we have missed this?

Not really, since he's actually attacked other council members himself earlier in the year:
http://www.wsbt.com/news/7195341.html

Police arrested Dorothy's husband David Snyder for attacking Penn earlier this year.

When you look for it there is story after story about this guy and his wife stirring up shiat and getting arrested. It seems like they enjoy this kind of action...

In the video it looks like he was escorted out of the meeting, but was walking under his own power--didn't see any "force" involved there.

Wasn't until he was outside the building that the lard-ass jelly doughnut had the poor bastard on the ground, knee to the spine, punching the guy in the face.

Typical behavior of out-of-control cop if you ask me. Get rid of his badge and weapons and let's settle this the old-fashioned way, toe-to-toe. This is one pussy douchebag of a cop that needs a good ass-whuppin and then told to go patrol a desk filing paperwork for the next 6 months to cool off. If that doesn't help this piss-poor excuse of a cop, then fire his worthless fat ass.

If he assaults someone then yes he needs to be removed. In the video he was only being an ass, and Penn over reached his authority. The people elected an ass and so you have to deal with it. Like someone else on a bigger picture.

He was pushed out the door, and no where am I defending this cop's action. Punching someone in the face when they are on the ground is over the line. I just find it a bit more disturbing that an elected official was removed because he was arguing with King Penn.

Well OK then--I guess we'll just agree to disagree on this one. I find it unusual that an official was removed, but I find it disturbing that lard ass cop felt the need to punch a handcuffed detainee repeatedly in the face.

Councilman = asshat
Jelly Doughnut Cop = Assault and Battery--go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200. The cheif here has no option but to throw cop right under the bus, then kindly ask the driver to back up and go over the jackass a second time.

Nice fantasy, but what will probably *really* happen is that his boss and all his coworkers will back his actions and call him a hero and shiat. Those bastards will always always always always stick up for each other, no matter how terrible the incident. It's really pretty sick sometimes, especially in cases like this one.

Would these happen to be the same cops that just beat the guy then lied outright to the cameras about what happened? .. I read the article you posted and would go with the assumption that every arrest the couple has had at these meetings were by the same set of 4 cops the town apparently has.

Police arrested Dorothy's husband David Snyder for attacking Penn earlier this year.

When you look for it there is story after story about this guy and his wife stirring up shiat and getting arrested. It seems like they enjoy this kind of action...

Also in that story (the one you posted, not the original) it mentions his wife had to go to the hospital for injuries she suffered in her arrest earlier this year... (making my assumptions now).

Yes, and I don't think "removed by force" justifies the beatdown; from reading your further comments in the thread, I guess you don't either. Everything indeed points to "asshat" in regards to the guy, but that doesn't make what happened any more legitimate.

Funny, I've lately thought about moving to a cheaper, smaller town, but I'm afraid it would turn out to be some clusterfark like this place, or else some weird deal like the town in Gummo.

I see everyone took the "keep the flame war going" thing to heart. Now, after seeing this cop's record, he is indeed an asshat that needs to be jailed. Well, to be fair, they're both asshats. Isn't it appropriate that a corrupt politician gets decked by a corrupt cop, and both just hopefully might deal with harsh consequences?

There's a certain segment of the population which Fark attracts who think the government - or most any authority - is evil and out to get them. OK, some authorities are oppressive but these folks dwell on it. Some cop told them to stop skateboarding on the sidewalk and took their weed or something, so now they hate all cops and they sit in their mama's basement and vent on Fark about how they hate cops. Nevermind that 99% of cops are good people trying to do a thankless job, or that when these idiots get in trouble, the first ones to help them will be a cop. It's more fun to mindlessly vent on the internet. Funny how most people have never had a beatdown by a cop, ever, isn't it?

The cop was the instigator on this. (The removal part) He clearly pushes him out the door. Then states he hit me. Well no shiat. Punching him in the face is way out of line, and the ass is going to get paid from this town.

I just don't like the removal of elected officials he may be an ass, but people elected him to be that ass. Just look at Ted Kennedy who doesn't want to smack that jack off.
