That was stupid. I kind of hope one of those poor people he keeps bumping into take a shot at him.

I support our troops, but fark that guy.

Looks like rush hour in Atlanta.

Humvee stuck in traffic = sitting duck. It may be a dick move, but there's a reason for it.

Wow, look at those real American heroes winning the hearts and minds of Iraqis by ramming their cars.

I'm going to basic training in a week to be a Humvee driver, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies

Hooray for at least the 5th repeat article in 3 days!

Really? So then, Humvee moving 5 miles per hour and bumping into civilians = just fine and dandy, safe as houses?

That's farking stupid, too.

Not 100% safe, but a lot safer than idling. Anything they can do to reduce the risk of an attack is better than doing nothing at all...even if that means having to slow down to 5 mph to bump a vehicle out of the way. I'm not looking for a pissing contest. I just wanted to point out that there is a reason for why they're driving that way, and it's not just for shiats and giggles.

I couldn't care less about the cars, but bumping that bus was pure asshattery.

If I saw a humvee charging at me in my rear view mirror, you know what? I'd probably get the fark out of its way.

It just boggles my mind that people think he's doin it to be a prick...

... Take away tactic, strategy, and safety and let's look at it: they're not driving around whoopin' it up like jackasses laughing. The driver barely makes any comments.

Nobody is saying they are doing it just to be jerks, of course it is for their own safety and self-interest.
But look at it this way: the only reason Baghdad is a war zone in the first place is because they're there. Running around ramming the natives' cars it ultimately doing nothing but giving people another reason to oppose the Americans and support the insurgency/resistance/whatever you want to call it.

2007-09-12 05:49:23 PM
nice...my only problem is that they didn't nail that guy wrist deep in his nostrils...

It's a shiatty thing to do, rear-ending cars on purpose, but the logic seems to be that they have to keep moving, no matter what. Anytime they are stopped or slowed down they are at a greater risk of being hit by a car bomb, a sniper, an RPG, etc.

Actually, the proper thing to do would have been for the military to outfit the Humvees with some sort of siren to alert traffic to get out of the way. I think not doing that was a lousy oversight, but it's just one minor fark up in a long, long list of fark ups that our current administration is responsible for, regarding the war in Iraq.

Oh thank god. I though this might be a RugbyJock video.

Fascinating. I guess our soldiers have to choose between being a dick to civilians or painting a big target on their heads.
Thanks Neocon Scatmunchers!!

The Humvee has a horn and he is honking the horn. Yes, the horn sucks. BUT, if in my daily commute I had to watch out for guys with machine guns, in big trucks, who might ram me, I damn sure would be aware of who was behind me.

They need to get the fark out of the way. Americans stuck in traffic are targets.

Wow, war really is as f*cked up of a reality as one can possibly imagine. The guys in the hummer really have no choice but to drive that way, else risk getting [Insert: Blown, shot, beaten] up. In other words, they're playing a fatal game of dodge ball through a sort of twisted and demented gauntlet. Meanwhile, the civilians are trying to get along with their lives -- a task that is essential to peace and stability -- and here they are dealing with the craziest road rage imaginable. And ironic enough, it's by the same foreigners who are there under the banners of freedom and liberation.

No wonder we will never win this war.

2007-09-12 08:50:34 PM
See? The guy behind the bus is smart enough to get the fark out of the way. The natives know the game. Don't move, get bumped. Get out of the way, you don't get bumped.

If I were an insurgent, and American troops didn't aggressively drive so as to not be stopped in traffic, I would get a few of my insurgent buddies together and set up a trap. A couple cars in front, behind, and beside the humvee, then open fire.

I guess I wouldn't be able to do that if American troops refused to get blocked in anywhere while on the road.

Actually, a siren would likely be a very bad idea. What would be the purpose of effectively getting traffic out of the way, while letting every insurgent in the area know you're coming from a good distance?

Well there must be some method better than crushing the back end of civilian cars. Unless I'm mistaken, I think one of the reasons for this war that the White House made up after no WMDs were found is that we we're supposed to be liberating the citizens.

Crashing into the rear of civilian cars with a 3 ton military vehicle, causing property damage and possibly whiplash to those inside, is that conducive to liberation? Or do you think there might possibly be a better way to do things?

Big deal. Dale Earnhardt Sr. used to drive like that every weekend.

A lot of stupid people in this thread thinking that guy was being a jerk.

That's fark.

What the guy was doing, be it right or wrong, is boring to watch.

Subby try again.

The real crime is video taping that and letting it get out on youtube. Yeah, if the driver stops for traffic he's a sitting duck but many don't see it that way. So why let this video get out to begin with? The guy filming that should be in the brig.

I'm not disagreeing with you, the fact is the necessity of tactics like these, are likely indicative of the mismanagement of the war on the whole which has led to the overall poor security situation.

So, if you're ever in the mall and I push you to the ground to get by, realize that I'm in a hurry and I had to do it because I'm always being chased by people I've pushed to the ground.

You fail at analogy.

Maybe none of you have ever driven anywhere other than Europe/US/Canada, but tapping bumpers is pretty common in a lot of Asian countries in traffic, they do it all the time in India.

Am I the only one who got motion sickness from that?

Ya, I was about to point out that in other countries the cars look like run over tin cans because they have minor accidents on a near daily basis. If someone did that to you in America you would pull over and exchange information, in Iraq it's probably more like they shoot you the finger and move on.

2007-09-13 01:28:17 PM
That humvee was alot more polite than the average car in most Asian countries...

He must have learned to drive where I live.
