My point exactly.

This too shall pass.

Most likely for an interception TD return.

We boast because we can. It's our lot in life. There are certain immutable truths in the world: The sun goes down in the evening, we shall all grow old and die, and the University of Florida is superior to Florida State University.

Some things you cannot change, you simply must accept.

my wife is a life-long Dawgs fan (she is from Albany, Georgia, father and brother are boosters, the whole deal)

so even though i knew it was going to get me in trouble for a while, I said to her while we were watching the game:

"You can't spell Fun and Gun without UGA, honey."

she was not pleased.

Urban Meyer coached Bowling Green my junior and senior seasons. He turned a 2-9 team with about the same players into some high flying offenses that beat some major conference teams and reached 70 points a few times. I knew then it would not be long that he would be on top of the college football world (as long as he didnt go to Notre Dame). I did not mind him leaving after 2 years because I knew the imprint he left was huge and we were so much better for it (If Utah fans are smart they would feel the same way). Also I was tired of those Miami of Ohio tools talking about their great coaches.

Florida State is going through what is known as the Joe Paterno complex....take a powerhouse team down the drain when your still trying to coach when your 80...PSU has managed to surge back a little bit due to the fact that over those dismal years the assistants have wrestled most of the power and control. I was happy that first year when FSU fell from the top spots...now i cant help but feel sad for them...almost.

Spurrier, a truly magnificent bastard.

College football is better here when the 2nd best team in the state isn't USF.

Miami and FSU - please get it together. Running trash talk in Florida isn't a whole lot of without FSU or Miami contending. For years UF wasn't in the mix, now we are and the arch-enemies are dying at Clemson, damn near losing to a school with a city in the name, getting run over by Bobby Stoops (visions of UF/Nebraska in 1995?) and making November just another month.

We're suffering a similar fate at VT. The Worst part is that Tech never really was a "Powerhouse," and Beamer never even won us a National Championship (let alone many). It's quite frustrating.

After this weekend, I realized how pale and pathetic the NFL is compared to college football. It's not even close. The NFL is as exciting as a trip to the post office.

Same here. Miami has owned Florida for the past 20 years, but we cannot talk since we have played so poorly for the past two years.

Steve Spurrier is a bitter old fart who is still pissed about losing to Georgia in 1966.

Great coach but not exactly a role model for young adults.

Yeah its not like georgia is hard lately, screen passes and a porous defense makes it easy, they need to fire martinez and ditch the short passing game.

Spurrier will still finish below georgia in the SEC east though, his team is not that good but luck happens.

It amazing that UFers still slob at the knob of Spurrier considering that he left UF for the NFL by having his AD address the team while he chilled at his beach house and that he took a job at a division rival of UF after he was an absolute failure in the NFL.

Steve Spurrier is a Gator through and through. Sure we have to play him now, but we don't like it, he doesn't like it, but we all know the best man will win. No Gator can blame Spurrier for wanting to be back in the SEC, it's only the best football in the universe. And at the end of the day, Steve's still welcome in Gainesville anytime.

Correction. Spurrier has always talked trash. He loves it. It gets into some guys' heads, and he uses that.

He's already beat both of them since arriving at South Carolina.

And what happened to home-field advantage in the SEC (or the rest of college ball, for that matter)? That's no longer such a deciding factor. Granted, Cal admitted it was last year when they walked into Neyland Stadium and limped out, but for the most part it's not as big a factor these days.

2007-09-11 11:29:09 AM
Spurrier's boys were well coached, but UGA lost the game on several fronts.

-3rd and 1 with one of the best fullbacks in the NCAA - and you run a WR end-around?
-4th and 2 trickery?
-FG with 4 minutes left deep in their territory? You still give them bad field position late in the game.

When the defense would catch a break, the offense wouldn't capitalize, and vice versa. UGA lost this game and showed their inexperience. Spurrier outcoached Richt's crew, but with the decisions they made, that's not saying much.

Hard to be a masochist when you own the national titles in football and basketball (two years straight), you know?

Most of us Gators don't mind Spurrier off coaching that school up north. We know it's not personal, and besides, it was time for him to move on anyway. Sure, he better not beat us again, but we expect he'll try his best. But we know at the end of his days, he'll call himself a Gator too.

Yes, because we definately had not been 2-0 against Spurrier at USC before then.

If you watched the game, there's no denying that UGA had ample opportunity to win the game. USC never put it out of reach - the Dawgs did.
