Maybe they'll find the lawyer that used to represent my girlfriend's company. He disappeared heading from Phoenix to Las Vegas last year with someone he probably shouldn'ta oughta have been flying with.

Oh, and where did all the law firm's money go?

OK, so maybe they won't find him.

150 crashes?

Helen Keller could have stumbled across 6 sites with her eyes closed.

/She couldn't tell anyone about it, but that's beside the point.

You're doing a hell of a job FAA

I got an "invitation" to help the search using Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Seemed like a novel way to find someone, but I didn't get far enough into the email to find out about what the reward is for finding him, or if he includes free shipping. It does seem like a good challenge for the Where's Waldo crowd, though.

I've been living here in the southwest for most of my life, and IMHO, we've lost more planes here than any Bermuda Triangle.
It can be dangerous just walking across the sand. They've discovered that in some places, the sand is so incredibly fine, that you can sink to the bottom in a heartbeat.

2007-09-09 11:15:44 AM
I read the article to read about the planes they DID find, but it seems to be in the headline only or did my Evelyn Wood training kick in?

Well, if you geeky Farkers are bored enough, apparently, you can help look for the guy.

Where's Fossett? (new window)

When I first started working out there, I was amazed at the plane litter on the peaks.
When I moved back east, I never looked back.

You can have as much fun as is possible in this situation by using the flight simulator in Google Earth to look for clues. Get to it you Farkers!

If it was a missing white woman, we would have found her by now.

Hell, she'd already be starting her run on the talk show circuit.

From TFA:

This is one of the most barren corners of America, a rugged wilderness that has swallowed at least 150 light aircraft crashes in the past five decades....

....Yet according to local pilots, the winds that are so friendly to gliders can be deadly for heavier aircraft. As our Cessna crossed a low ridge, it bucked and jolted uncomfortably as it hit a new current of air. If a light aircraft is travelling too close to the ground, a sudden down-draught can slam it against a mountain.

Here's an idea: farking find somewhere else to fly!

minus two tacos for the writer because the title of the farking article barely touches on the subject of a plane graveyard and is just more showcasing of fossett and his disappearance.
