And if the ammunition he fired in the parking lot was the same ammunition he tried to return, then why the hell was he trying to return it? Why not go out target shooting (somewhere that you won't be arrested)? You never have too much ammo.

If you put up a good enough biatch fest with a manager, you can get a return/refund. I used to work at Wal-Mart in custer service and had a punk kid try to return bullets. I said "I cannot do this, the sign in sporting goods says that all amo sales are final" He put up such sink about it, I had to call a manager who just said "Why aren't you returning these for him?" I just left and told him I wasn't dealing with it, and the manager did the return.

Actually.. At the store I used to work at, it prints it right on the receipt when you purchase said items from Sporting Goods.

It's something like:
NOTICE: ALL AMMUNITION SALES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES

Same at my store, when customers are buying the ammunition or guns they have to sign a paper stating that they understand that the sale is final and cant be returned. And i still get asshats trying to return them at customer service. still think the job is evil...but its paying the bills for now.

some explain to me again why people can buy guns and ammo at wal-mart, but can't buy music with naughty language?

fyi for future wal-mart news headline writers, san diego means the use of wal-mart is correct. if this had been in the south, the correct usage would have been "wal-marts".

Ahh, buying ammo at Wal Mart. I prefer not to , but unless it is for competition, it does the job. A couple days ago I went in there and after buying a shovel and an axe for some landscaping work I was putting off, I remembered I was low on 22 ammo and wanted to do some plinking that afternoon. So, I walk on over to the sporting goods section, get 5 500 bricks of 22 ammo (2,500 rounds, not all that much relatively speaking), and as I am getting checked out the clerk says something to the effect of me buying a lot of ammo, and without missing a beat I replied "yeah, well, a lot of people on my list, its going to be a long day." the clerk got this horrified look on his face and seemed like he was going to pick up the phone to call in a wall mart swat team, so I had to assure him that I was not in fact going to climb up a bell tower. Probably was the shovel and axe I had in my hands that did it.

Well, it was a shot gun so maybe he picked up the wrong kind of shot. Buck instead of bird, for instance.

And no one allows returns of ammo. That's just not safe.

Fish, I read through all the comments to see if anyone would cover why ammo is not returnable, you came closest, im guessing most readers dont even realize that taking a return of ammo would be like taking a return of a sandwich or a bottle of OTC medicine, if they did take it back it would have to be destroyed and not resold.

Sounds like the ammunition worked just fine. Why did he need to return it?

2007-09-09 11:33:52 AM
There is a big sign, plus a sign on the ammo display, plus it prints on your receipt. Triple duh on you. Last time they also had a sign in Espanol. I know, because somehow I bought a bot of 20 gauge shells in a bunch of boxes of 12 gauge, and you can't return them and they told you. Now they put all the ammo behind the counter too, so you have to ask for it and they probably tell you then too.

2007-09-09 11:42:34 AM
I usually get ammo at either Gander Mountain, or via online, but on occasion I will get some Winchester White Box or other stuff at Wally World if I'm in a pinch on the way to the range. No way would I expect *anyone* to take ammo returns - too easy for some idiot to do something like popping the cartridges apart and double-charging them before returning.

Something about Wal-Mart that I *do* find entertaining is their procedure when you actually buy a firearm. A couple of years ago, I bought a Ruger 10/22 there (Ruger used to make a special Wal-Mart only version that was way nicer than their standard offerings), and the store manager made a big show of carrying the rifle as he escorted me out to my vehicle, telling me that it was for everyone's safety. Guess he wasn't aware that I had a loaded .45 pistol and two extra 10-round magazines on me at the time, but whatever.

Um, I bought The Hills Have Eyes from Wal-Mart, and it is most certainly complete and identical to my friend's copy which was bought from Amazon.

I think the misunderstanding comes from the fact that when it's time to release a movie on DVD, the filmmakers understand that certain retailers will not carry discs with certain content, so they will edit the film from the theatrical release to create the DVD cut. This is where the phrase "edited DVD" comes from. Wal-Mart is not selling a different DVD than anyone else is. You won't find many Director's Cut DVDs there, because those are the versions that usually contain the "offensive" content.

Or porn. I'll be shiatting my pants the day I see a copy of Backdoor Sluts 9 next to a copy of Dora the Explorer in the Wal-Mart electronics department. Or Playboy issues next to the Bibles. That would be pretty amusing.

2007-09-09 01:56:49 PM
They don't allow returns because it is fairly easy for someone with reloading tools to use a bullet puller , empty a cartridge , and reload with a dangerous load of a stronger powder.Reseat the bullets and you would not know they were tampered with .
The next user very likely to have firearm destroyed with shrapnel flying in the vicinity.

I don't think it matters much where you get it.
What matters, is where you send it.

I worked at a Wal-mart this summer. We still sell ammo and we don't sell edited movies. I bought 300 and Hot Fuzz there and they weren't edited, they were the same thing that we saw in the theater. I know we carried the director's cut of King Arthur and The Punisher. I know we also had several others but I don't remember what

It's your music that's edited if I remember correctly, which is probably worse. Well, it was back before online music was so popular.

It's shotgun ammo, not .45 cal or incendiary grenades. It's for hunting. Oh noes.
You're more likely to kill somebody with a knife than a shotgun--you can sneak up with a knife, but a bulky-ass shotgun's hard to hide.

To all non US folks...

I bought a Ruger 10/22 from J.C Penney (A clothing store not unlike Marks & Spencer) at my local shopping mall in the 1980's. Spent another hour or so walking through the rest of the mall with it...during Christmas season. Oh yeah...I was 16 years old too.

-----

Yeah...the no return policy sucks. Especially so when you drop $50 for some .45acp and find out in the car that they are .45gap.

Well if they're going to use it for evil,
they're probably not afraid to saw off the stock and barrel
but even in original condition, people have done serious damage with shotguns.
