Fark: Can't play the piano at all!

Typical MSM dribble.
The headline was likely written by someone who didn't read the article.
FTA, "...injectible myoelectric sensors (IMES) that detect muscle activity..." Unlike the headline, "Mind-controlled..."

Just think, America depends on these people to tell them what's happening around the world.

Clearly CNN headline writers also submit a lot of headlines for Fark.

55mil ? It seems to me that they would be able to develop a sweet ass suit of armor to protect the soldiers from getting their limbs blown off.

gund: Er.. the mind controls the muscle...

Duh.
That's how they all work. You move or flex a muscle and it moves a part of the limb.
Using that description of "Mind Control", I use Mind Control to drive my car. To move my mouse on my computer. To bring my mail in my house from my mail box across the street. Etc.

This is one of those articles where I pick it up halfway through and think to myself "if only we spend some of our military budget on this stuff...", then I find out we actually are.

/too bad it's only for our own troops
//would rather see it used to "buy off" enemies who in most cases are just regular people pissed that there are others hundreds of times better off than themselves

"injectible myoelectric sensors"

is the biggest point in that article, and they get exactly three words.

if those work that'd be absolutely awesomely stupid incredible nuts.

Relatively Obscure: IHateMidgets: 55mil ? It seems to me that they would be able to develop a sweet ass suit of armor to protect the soldiers from getting their limbs blown off.

They've spent more than 55 mil on that
a single hammer and a toilet seat cover.

Just a reminder that we're talking about military-funded research (in the case of the army, anyway).

2007-09-06 05:02:12 PM
Haha, in the case of the armor. I lose at high-level word processing.
