"I'm sure badgirlsgotohell dot org is still trying to figure out why the sudden surge in hits today."

That's called Fark by Proxy!

Click on the "cached" link for the 1st response--goes to a weird, semi-googlish looking page, but one that I've never seen before. I was trying to see what the banner was that had "go to hell" highlighted, or was waiting to see the ever-amusing "Go to hell" only appears in links pointing to this page, but it's something else entirely.

Actually the first time I clicked it I didn't see the top one, I just saw AOL and though that was the joke.

Icthyologist, regarding the hell.com site, if you click around long enough, you get to a place where you can sign up to be on a mailing list. Then every once it a while they send you a link to an art project they've done on the site, or an event. It's usually interesting.

I think this was an easter egg put in by google after the joke that went around on the internet a few years ago during microsoft's "where do you want to go today?" campaign. In one of M$'s TV spots, they had some choral music in the background. Translated from latin, it was something like "All of the disbelievers shall burn in hell for all eternity." All this while the words "Where do you want to go today?" were on the screen. any verification of this?

TwIne & WriteInCandidate

My answer: Meta-Tags? Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, except for the fact that Bill's riding the publicity of the search words.

Google's definition of I love you

Google needs to farm that out to the FBI. It might help the Feds capture those terrorists.

It's called Google Bombing, and it's fun...

Just get other 'blogs to rally around a website (or against, in this case) and put a link to their site which reads a certain phrase, and when enough people do it, it goes to the top of Google!

So, go to hell Microsoft!
