Nirvana fans should all rejoice he ended it when he did, if not you'd all be sitting around today wondering what happened and rememebering the days when you thought they were good.

We all know Courtney Love killed Kurt, because he was about to take away the gravy train. And the world lost a great artist at the hands of a terrible one. Stupid dumb biatch whore!

Dear Haters, Your opinions are deeply moving. However, I still love Nirvana and love asking 'good' guitarists to play Nirvana songs to this day. It is always, without fail, hilarious to hear those who disparage attempt it. For those who don't play; haha.

They weren't bad per se they just weren't as good as everyone wants them to be. And time would have shown that, they wouldn't have had the staying power of say the 'Stones. Like I said the BEST thing that happened for their music was the timing of Cobain's death.

beve: That's why I'm glad Jesus died when he did

More like that he lived when he did, I don't think Christianity would have the same staying power if Jesus was born say tomorrow. Information was scarce, and traveled slowly. Makes it much easier to beleive.

First up.

They weren't bad per se they just weren't as good as everyone wants them to be

Actually they were.

Also back to the story. Coogan's got every right to be pissed off at courtney love. Suggesting in any way that he had a hand in Owen Wilson's troubles is a horrible thing to say and unvelievably cruel. From what I understand her argument is, he and Wilson were friends, Coogan is a big partier and led Wilson astray. Bullshiat. Fark you Courtney. I never thought she could sink lower in my estimation but she has. Spiteful biatch.

Just because a performer stops being good doesn't mean I wish they promptly die. He could have retired, had a nice life, with the yadda and the yaddaing.

lol @ Gavino, good guitarists don't play Nirvana songs. That's like asking a world class chef at a fancy restaurant to make you a Big Mac.

Nirvana rawked when we needed rawking the worst. Another band that wasn't as good as you want them to be? The stones. What a bunch of douchebags... suing to get the proceeds of a song they didn't write because of an unlicensed riff they didn't write or play, and all the while the building blocks of their early songs were complete ripoffs of blues artists they didn't credit or compensate.

I think it's cute when 25 year-olds talk about Nirvana.

It's like 25 year-olds talking about how the Warped Tour totally kicked Woodstock's ass.

Oh dear God please. I learned all their major songs in a pretty short time, and I wouldn't consider myself that good of a guitar player.

Maybe your friends didn't play it as sloppy as Kurt so it sounded different?

What made Nirvana so great wasn't that their music was terribly profound or required a lot of talent to play, but the simple fact that it was different. The state of rock music at the time, as you may recall, sucked enormously.

Courtney Love should've been introduced to George W. Bush at that fateful frat party. Everything would've been much better then.

no, no she doesn't. Who cares what she said, does she have any credibility at all about anything? I have no idea who this Coogan fellow is, but why even take the time to have your publicist respond. Or just say "Courtney Love? 'Nough said"

Don't forget that they haven't been good "original artists" for 37 years now, and counting, that they're still touring and doing not much more than what a band as old as their children could do, and that everyone over the age of 50 still thinks they're the shiat.

The Rolling Stones are a relic, just like the magazine named after them. People don't enjoy them so much for contemporary music as much as for historic music.

Which is all fine anyway, because contemporary music is YEEEAARRRGH bad.

True. Everyone looked the same and sounded the same, and the scene imploded on itself.

Timing is everything.

If they were truly that groundbreaking, they would've busted onto the scene much earlier, not when rock/metal was becoming a joke.

I was never a Nirvana fan, even though I grew up in the Seattle area. When Cobain died in '94, a lot of the kids at my school were walking around all depressed and mopey. Get a farking life.

I like Nirvana, but that has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen written on Fark. Did you have trouble learning to play Metallica too?

I don't play guitar - all I ever learned to play was Teen Spirit.

I remember when "You Know You're Right" came out years after Kurt's suicide. It was by far the best thing on the radio. It isn't that some of their older stuff wasn't that good, it's just that after you've heard something a million times, it loses some appeal.

qft. there were better bands before and there have been better since. but they were the right band at the right time, and they were good enough to take advantage of it.

personally, i would've liked to see them keep going. their records kept getting better and better. oh well.

if courtney love killed kurt cobain, then i think bernard sumner killed ian curtis because he wanted to start making shiatty dance music.

ugh. conspiracy theories. aside from the fact that i'm pretty sure buddy holly was killed due to a government conspiracy, i don't expect to see elvis, jim morrison and bigfoot hanging out at my local 7-11. but i could be wrong.
