I can only hope that this is just a rumor.
2001-07-23 01:56:57 AM
3 people submitted it from 3 different news sources. Probably true.
2001-07-23 02:00:02 AM
It's really weird how people know they are going to die and soon after, do. People say they see something of religious significance before they do(angel, love ones we've lost, etc) who knows...guess we'll all find out at one time or another. It will be a real sad day in the world of music when he does pass on. When it comes to Ringo, who cares ;-)

awww...hes had so much trouble, that sucks
losing another one of the fab four is sad.
2001-07-23 02:00:48 AM
I'm leery of it because the only source in all the articles about this I've read (quite a few) is The Mail. Since I don't know anything about the Mail, I don't know if it's reputable or if it's a tabloid. But I'm assuming it's reputable since so many other news sites have picked the article up. Which means that it's likely true. Which means bad things.

If it's true, then it's not just my guitar that's going to gently weep.

I grew up with the Beatles, through my teen years the added wonderful song after wonderful song to my life.
All things must pass,
2001-07-23 02:24:07 AM
Meh, what great has he done lately?
2001-07-23 02:25:51 AM
I wonder what has kept the three of them from doing some sort of reunion after all these years. Obviously none of them needed the money, but since when is that ever the reason for a reunion? Maybe someone else here can shed a little more light on this.
2001-07-23 02:31:11 AM

blame yoko. kinda like in "This is Spinal Tap," ya know
2001-07-23 02:45:28 AM
One down three to go!
One down three to go!

Say it ain't so! Really a shame, I think, to see someone have to suffer a slow death, especially one so loved and admired as George. At least he has the money to be made as comfortable as possible, so maybe his suffering won't be as bad as some have had to endure.

shiathead: I used to blame Yoko for everything from the breakup to global warming, but one day it occurred to me that one of my favorite people in the world was madly in love with her. Maybe she ain't all bad, after all.
2001-07-23 02:54:53 AM
Meh, what great has he done lately?

how 'bout : survived a knife attack from a homicidal asshole ?
2001-07-23 03:01:02 AM
hehehe.. now Peter Griffin guarding for George Harrison in the 1980s while somebody breaks into the house in one ep makes sense.

2001-07-23 03:13:38 AM
I don't really like the Beatles' music.
2001-07-23 03:29:26 AM
FreddyFreedom : They never reunited because John was gone. Simple as that. They did record one single with an old demo tape from John a couple of years ago and released it as a "Beatles" song. That was about it.

Really sad about George.
2001-07-23 03:55:25 AM
Now Paul, he was the mind of the band,
and John, he was the soul of the band,
and George, he was the heart of the band,
and Ringo, was the drummer.

2001-07-23 04:55:21 AM
Right on, no John. But as you say, they reunited 'virtually' for the Anthology albums & videos.
They recorded "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" using John's demo tracks. Thirty years on, more No.1 hits.
No one will ever touch The Beatles.

The beatles set down the groundwork for every musician after themselves, in some way... Whether by composition, writing, spirit or just plain enjoyment of creating...
Losing George will be one more moment of heartbreak and happiness...
He will finally find his "Sweet Lord" but many of us will lose the beauty of his works...
I hope his will outweighs his illness.
2001-07-23 06:17:48 AM
Whilst I don't like the Mail's politics, I'm inclined to trust them on this article - they aren't from the 'Elvis ate my hamster' school of journalism, anyway.
2001-07-23 07:00:43 AM
CNN has it as a featured story... As do several other news programs.
As much as I would love for this one to be a "Mail-Hoax", I fear it most probably isn't.
2001-07-23 08:16:37 AM
hare krishna!
hare hare!
hare krishna!
2001-07-23 08:42:52 AM
Wasn't he forced to pay a half million dollars or so for copyright infringement related to his worldwide smash hit?
2001-07-23 10:02:44 AM
A spokesman for George Martin says he never said those things.

I'm whistling in the fark.
2001-07-23 10:13:35 AM
i'm not trying to be funny when i say thats a dead link
2001-07-23 10:31:23 AM
This is so sad. I, too, hope he fights this. There is truly "something" in the way he writes. But I won't eulogize him yet, he is still with us!
2001-07-23 10:45:41 AM
This makes me realize how special life is.I was having a crappy day to start with and it really puts things in perspective.George wrote my all time favorite Beatle song"Here Comes The Sun".
2001-07-23 11:01:14 AM
I wish it was Paul...
2001-07-23 11:27:36 AM
Paul's already dead, Hanker.
2001-07-23 11:32:40 AM
Anyone else think Jonderson looks like George Harrison?
2001-07-23 11:46:59 AM
What do vegetarian worms eat?

Linda McCartney.

I too think that George was the heart of the band. "But all 'ee duz is stand there..."

"Aye, bu' it's the WAY 'ee stands there."

"It's really weird how people know they are going to die and soon after, do. Aye, I guess it couldn't also be that he's had three tumors removed, has been having a losing battle with cancer forever and feels like total shiat, has probably the best medical team money can afford monitoring his health and telling him he's not got long to live, nah couldn't be that. I know if that had all happened to me it would take divine motherfarking intervenetion to tell me that I was going to die soon.

Anyways, here's hoping he's smoking the best pot and hitting the pain meds as much as he needs.
2001-07-23 01:17:14 PM
Newbaca - "divine motherfarking intervenetion"
Hehe. I like that. Won't get you far with Jay motherfarking Christ, tho.
2001-07-23 01:17:59 PM
This is not true, and here's the proof.
2001-07-23 01:24:07 PM
yup, just saw that. Whoever noticed earlier that all the sources were the same British paper... congrats, I wish I had your eye :)
2001-07-23 02:47:36 PM
The only thing sad is we will have to put up with several weeks of listening to people act like the world is comming to an end and fawning over what a genious he was. The beatles sucked.
2001-07-23 03:16:10 PM
Can we get this item pulled off? Many folks are just going to read the headline and this story, and not see that he's since refuted it.
2001-07-23 04:59:00 PM
We're all going to die soon.....just a matter of time on how soon.....some sooner than others............
2001-07-23 06:00:03 PM
Hey, somebody remembers the Meatmen. Cool.
