brilliant.

I can't believe they just killed Balkie off like that.

That it be. That it be.

Six Feet Under.

Season 4 is generally my favorite, but I usually turn off the DVD just before the ending unless I'm in the mood for it. You can't watch that and not be moved.

You even feel sorry for Captain Darling - good writing indeed

Last One Left

"Yes it is", not "That it be". Now here is a bag of money which I'm not going to give to you.

The same episode also brought the best explanation of how WWI started i've seen.

Slightly not safe for work due to gratuitous use of the word "bollocks"

eyehate: Six Feet Under.

This.

BizarreRecords: I can't believe they just killed Balkie off like that.

It's an overused phrase for sure, but rarely do I literally laugh out loud. I just did.

Javacrucian: "Yes it is", not "That it be".

Yes, all right. Make a sentence out of the following words: 'face', 'sodding', 'your', 'shut'. ;)

Obviously submitter never saw the death of David the Gnome. (pops)

2007-08-28 04:13:39 AM
That ostrich died for no reason.

2007-08-28 04:30:48 AM
Even sadder and more profound than the Family Matters season finale where Urkel is sent into space and comes back a hero?

That's a bold statement, subby.

2007-08-28 04:35:58 AM
At least until Blackadder Back & Forth, which is available on Youtube if you've never seen it.

2007-08-28 04:37:11 AM
Brought a tear to me eye. I loved that series.

2007-08-28 04:41:27 AM
But is it sadder than Jurassic Bark?

2007-08-28 04:42:54 AM
Series 4 was the best, the ending was very poignant.

2007-08-28 05:15:53 AM
never saw the show

Cagey B: But is it sadder than Jurassic Bark?

Nothing is sadder than Jurassic Bark, but that wasn't the end of the series.

2007-08-28 05:43:39 AM
Sadly, that beats even the last MASH.

The pure futility of WWI seems to be lost on most of the current population.

2007-08-28 05:47:24 AM
Hmm. Well, this is the saddest picture you'll ever see.

For once, a headline that is correct.

Eddie_Dean_NY: The pure futility of WWI seems to be lost on most of the current population.

QFT. Blackadder's explanation hits home - "It was too much effort not to have a war".

I love that show.

Cagey B: But is it sadder than Jurassic Bark?

Why did I almost watch that. Would have made me sad for the whole day.

Sounds like someone wasn't watching TV LAND finale of M*A*S*H last night!

2007-08-28 07:33:51 AM
Was that Hugh Laurie I saw there?

Oh, man, you are going to have us buying another boxed set of DVDs.

2007-08-28 07:35:10 AM
Considering my dog just died after 13 years, Jurrasic Bark gets my vote as some seriously sad shiat.

2007-08-28 07:41:20 AM
Umm.. I don't get it. In the slightest bit.

2007-08-28 07:42:47 AM
I'll see your WWI show and raise you: Comedy Central's Tough Crowd ending.

2007-08-28 07:44:50 AM
This gives me a better idea of what this is all about:

Black Addar I Intro-Outro

Okay, it's British comedy, slapstick as all get out and probably indifferent to historical facts.

Wabash: Obviously submitter never saw the death of David the Gnome. (pops)

Oh. My. God. I have *never* seen that. Was that really part of the series?

Now I can't decide whether or not to forward that link to my kid, who's now an adult, because I'm afraid it might upset her. She *loved* that show as a kid ... probably still does.

Yes, that was Hugh...

Sadder than The Young Ones finale?

2007-08-28 08:22:36 AM
I can buy Hogans Heroes making concentration camps funny, I can buy M*A*S*H making the Korean War funny, but damn it, how do you make a World War One comedy?

2007-08-28 08:28:27 AM
Wait... David the Gnome died?

* goes off to sob in the corner *

There, there Smitty. According to Jim affects each of us diifferently.

I remember watching the BlackAdder DVD set in a few sittings, and after that last episode I sat there simply agog.

I'd wait until Fox screws up and gets "House" canceled. He's so freaking brilliant as a complete idiot in Blackadder you'll have a hard time watching him play serious.

Tom_Servo: Why is House in that trench w/Mr. Bean? What is going on here?

Either you're making a funny or you've never heard of public television. See, there is this channel called the B-B-C in this far off, mythical place called "England".........

2007-08-28 09:59:28 AM
Saddest and most profound ending to a show for my money is this:

Ghost in the Shell SAC: Second Gig

If you haven't seen the show, you probably won't be as touched - but suffice it to say that this probably one of the best examples of character development that will ever exist in a television format.

i don't know what that was...but the true saddest ending to a series has to be none other than Fox's Anchorwoman...

/did anyone else think that said BlackLadder or BackLadder?

Hugh Laurie on DVD: Blackadder The Third, Blackadder Goes Forth, A Bit Of Fry And Laurie - all genius.

It was much sadder when jack tripper turned out the lights the the apartment.

All in the Family FTW
