"Alcolol. Is there anything it can't do?"

Funny, the one thing I would say it can't do is put out a fire. Guess I was wrong :)

I feel so bad for those people ;(

Yeah here in the States with the big SUVs & McMansions & All you can eat Chinese food - you really don't think much about it, but when an entire families' worth can be put on a farking donkey, having your countryside burnt by wildfire sucks.

Ah well, soon enough there will be your typical fund raiser and like 2% of the money will go to some politician over in Greece while the rest gets gobbled up by bull shiat corporations. Make sure you donate a dollar! It's the most we can do...

What part? The part about them being elderly? The part about them being brother and sister, unmarried and living together? The part about them fleeing? The part about them having only one donkey?

I'm not seeing the depressing part, help me out here.

Are you saying that massive forest fires, potentially started by arsonists that have so far killed 63 people, are still burning and are the centre of an international aid effort *shouldn't* be world news?

I never thought an entire nation being ravaged by a natural disaster/act of terrorism (if it really was arson, but methinks the arson story was just started to cover someone's ass) was that important either. But then I realised that I'm a human being, and I actually give a shiat when people lose their entire families in a disaster that ought to have been something simple to stop.

Maybe that's just me.

This is such a sad story. Greece is a beautiful place, with awesome people. I'm surprised this isn't getting more news coverage.

Good job on him, though.

In the past, it's been customary for a brother to not get married until his sister is married. In our family, one of our relatives died a bachelor because his two sisters never got married. It was quite sad ... he was in love with a woman and could never marry her. Some of the Greek traditions are good - others .. not so much.

First thing I thought of.

There are two kinds of people: Greeks, and those who wish they were Greek.

" A very angry Mr. Dimopoulos thinks not, though fire officials began on Monday to speak with optimism that, at minimum, the blazes were spreading less rapidly. With houses toppled and scorched all around his, he strapped his crop sprayer to his back again on Monday and began a lesson on how to put out fires.

"Bring Karamanlis here and I will take him by the hair and show him how I did it!" he roared, squirting a bit of water, now available again, on his wood pile. "
