Human hair is, by default, white. When human hair coloration decreases as you age your hair turns whiter. I know a few redheads whose hair has turned blonder/whiter as they age.

My wife and I are doing our best to keep this from happening. She's of Irish hertiage and has the typical milky white skin, I'm a bit more of the day walker variety thanks to a some Icelandic and German in my background. I don't know if the disappearance of our kind is that bad of a thing though, if you have dated one of us I'm sure you know that we come with a down side. Remember we have red hair for a reason, it should serve as an early warning system that we are a little insane and once we get angry it does not take long for us to become completely insane. On the other hand sex between redheads tends to leave more bruises and scars than our fighting does and that does tend to make it worth it.
