Squiffy. Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie.

Does make you wonder what the fark Russia is up to lately. It is almost like they want the cold war to start up again.

2007-08-22 12:24:35 PM
Like I've said before, WWIII is between Russia and the UK. We're staying out of this shiat.

2007-08-22 12:24:50 PM
They should have sent up a couple civilian aircraft to trail it instead. Or just ignored them.

2007-08-22 12:25:26 PM
It's nothing.

It was Russian tradition to fly their bombers to opposing air space and wave at the greeting fighters. Putin just brought the tradition back. They've been doing it to the US for the past few months as well. Nothing to see here, folks.

2007-08-22 12:26:30 PM
If you read TFA, it seems that they are reporting more on the English fighter than they are on the fact that WWIII could be starting

Just my opinion

Seems like Russia wants people to remember they are over there still.

2007-08-22 12:29:56 PM
Great.

You know what's going to happen now.

Russia is going to get all uppity and start breaking laws and we're going to let them get away with it because they'll say it's just because George W. Bush is pissing them off.

Fark-the-Fnord: If you read TFA, it seems that they are reporting more on the English fighter than they are on the fact that WWIII could be starting

I was going to comment on that. It's like a Clancy novel - all kinds of useless information that doesn't advance the plot.

Russia has nothing to gain from a strategic nuclear first strike on Europe, Asia and the United States at the same time.

...do they?

2007-08-22 12:30:40 PM
barely a paragraph about the encounter. the rest of the article was basically about Typhoon deployment.

Am I are s'posta be ascarred?

dscott72: It is almost like they want the cold war to start up again.

ding ding ding.

putin wants the greatness of russia back again. he's got oil money now, and he can at least make the show of them being the superpower teh USSR was. and it distracts the people from corruption and internal problems

2007-08-22 12:31:21 PM
Yeah, Russia publicly announced the other day that they were going to resume these long range bomber flights. Surprised a bigger deal hasn't been made of it, actually. It would seem to be overtly threatening.

Proemas: They should have sent up a couple civilian aircraft to trail it instead. Or just ignored them.

Or blown it the fark out of the sky.

Eff Putin.

What you have to remember is Russian men have the tiniest genitals in the world. That is why they act like bullies. Ask any scholar on Russian diplomatic relations and they will tell you the same.

/Also ask any Russian women.

I've been to Russia, and it's a mess. They aren't in a position to threaten anybody.

Also this seems to be the recon variant of this aircraft...no bombs

Me thinks the brits were looking for a reason to take pictures of their new jet posing by a 1950s era russian piece of shiat...

No nuclear holding power lacks a second-strike advantage. There is no such thing as a "strategic first strike" as any strike will be responded to in kind.

You can't get all the nukes before they are launched in retaliation (hell, with todays technology, our nukes would be in the air before theirs would land)

Do you blame us The Typhoon is like the Spitfire of the modern RAF, you get goosebumps when the twin enginges go on full burn and the plane skyrockets into the wild blue yonder, just in the same way the drone of the Merlin engine makes you fill up with pride and tears.

During the Korean War, the US wanted to capture a MIG and have a good look at it. So the dropped leaflets over a dozen NK air bases with this proposition: "Land your MIG at an American Airbase, and you get $100,000 and US citizenship." (plus instructions on low speed approach, gear down, flaps out...)

It worked. We got 3 MIGs.

I bet they could have just bought those Russkis out of the sky with a good meal, a few bottles of Vodka, and tickets to The Jeffersons on Ice.

Isn't mutually assured destruction grand?

Besides, any war is usually fought over assets and resources. And what good are radiated resources.
