When I first started using computers, we didn't have modems, so if you wanted to post something, you had to make all the modem noises yourself! And we liked it!

I'm soooooo tired of waiting 20-30 seconds every... single... time... I refresh a page. What is up with that? Is it the ads... are they just bandwidth hogs? Is it the loading order? Do the comments load last? Is it becaus it doesn't have the AJAX interface cached to the server diaphragm on full-scope automatic iris? What is it? Is it me?

Because it was never like this before the redesign, and it's barely tolerable...

While it has been sort of a reminder of life pre-high speed, that sense of nostalgia just isn't worth it.
