I knew a guy who harpooned an eight foot grouper at 70m on Trimix.

That's hardcore.

Artist's impression of what the incident may have looked like

Doesn't that ususally mean a sketch or something? Not a photo? Otherwise it would be a photographer's impression.

I wonder what kind of lure he used.

A doctor managed to free him from the hook.

Really? The doctor managed to get it out? They make it sound like it was open-heart surgery.

I think more articles need an artist's impression. That really added to the piece.

Has anyone mentioned the following about the "artist's representation of the event" 1)It's not an artists rendering, and 2)It appears to be from the movie "There's Something About Mary."?

I LOL'd when I first saw the pic in the article then again when I saw it in this thread....that's just funny shiat.

An article linked from the same page about the virgins fleeing the fire they started (already covered by Fark) has pictures captioned "People doing sex" and "Fire doing burning".

It appears to be intentional quirkiness.

I don't think the site is too serious. On the Nude Virgins Flee Sex Blaze article are two pics: People doing sex, and Fire doing burning.

Choice.

My brother once caught my ear while trying to cast out. That really sucked. I can't imagine what it would feel like to get a hook in the mouth. Did the diver get pulled up?

2007-08-17 03:27:38 PM
Wait... he wasn't even diving at the time? Why the hell do they even mention scuba diving if he was swimming?

I hooked myself once, trying to pull free of a snag. The lure came flying at my head, warp speed, and the hook dug in just above and behind my temple. Scary. My boyfriend helped keep my spirits up while I waited two hours at the emergency room to have it removed. (the doctor had to slice a little with the scalpel to get the hook out.) No fun while people point and laugh at the 1/4oz little cleo hanging from your head. Went back out fishing that night, anyway.
