The black cloud crossed my mind, blue mist round my soul

Feel so suicidal, even hate my rock and roll ...

Is it in any of the p2p systems yet? Couldn't find it with WinMX, dammit.

2002-09-15 08:38:53 AM
P.S. It's not a "Brand New" song. *rolls eyes*

Bleh. You'd think after free as a bird and the whole Beatles Anthology failure they would've learned that people just don't want recycled Beatles clips labelled as "new". The band is still relevant, their music still very listenable... but jesus people let them go.

2002-09-15 08:59:14 AM
Their music is great, and while I liked "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love", they were mostly repackaged Lennon tunes. This sounds like it's gonna be 14 minutes of the Beatles noodling around in the studio... can't we see there's a reason for it never appearing on an album before?

2002-09-15 08:59:38 AM
Boooorinnnnggg. Wake me up when there's some new Foghat songs. 'Cause I'm a fool for the city.

2002-09-15 09:10:50 AM
It probably sounds like "Revolution 9", or better yet, maybe it's more like "Inna Gadda Da Vida".

2002-09-15 09:13:44 AM
*sigh* that cliche is just painful now...

2002-09-15 09:17:13 AM
Farker can't count syllables, doodah, doodah.

Thought he'd try and sneak in "it's", oh de doo dah day.

2002-09-15 09:25:52 AM
The beatles were nothing other than four overhyped brits with little musical talent.
The good news is it will only take two more bullets to reunite the band.

Yea
2002-09-15 09:40:41 AM
they should of been called the roaches, because they are annoying and impossible to get rid of

2002-09-15 10:37:12 AM
avast ye trolls! respect the beatles or dont listen to popular music. still 14 min of a in studio acid trip is hardly gonna make it to the top of my playlist. plus i saw QOTSA fri and my ears hurt.

2002-09-15 10:56:18 AM
Elvis' new song is better.

2002-09-15 11:05:12 AM
Cool now add it to the 500th redition of the "Best of the Beatles" CD/DVD package (retail 149.99) and let it roll.

Seeing all the suckers that bout "one" when they owned all the songs on it anyway maybe that's not such a bad idea.

Kazaa lite anyone?

Obviously, McCartney is trying to squeeze the last drop of blood out of The Beatles unreleased recordings, knowing that for every day that goes by, more people will have the capability just get the song from the internet. He needs to get the stuff to market before even more people have the capability to download bootleg copies.
Wait a minute, isn't Paul dead?

2002-09-15 11:50:57 AM
You know, I've LOVED The Beatles for many years, and always will, yet, the Anthology singles "Free As a Bird," and "Real Love," while definitely a cultural sonic boom in terms of importance, tarnished "the boys" a little for me......

Besides, I downloaded this off of Napster a couple of years ago, and it's crap. Worse than "Mary Jane Had a Pain at the Pary" or "Revolution #9".

2002-09-15 11:51:33 AM
For the record, Revolution 9 is strange shiat man. I think if you hear out the entire thing, you go insane.
I wish Harrison would unveal a real new song. And while we're at reviving the best, how about Pete Townshend goes and continues writing songs. He could get together with the other who member who is still alive (forgot who), get 2 more people, and revive the band. If The Who would revive, mabye we would be saved from the modern day hoarde of total crap on the radio *cough* rap *cough*. While The Beatles would be a great revive, perhaps even better (though I dont want to decide over Beatles vs. Who), with the only member who never wrote songs as the only one left, it is hopeless. The Who aren't, as they have 2 members left and 1 was their most famous member. But The Beatles aren't dead to me. I must be listening to their 1 Album at least 3 times through each day while wasting away on the internet. The Beatles 4-eva!

If there were no Beatles there would be no Pink Floyd. If there were no Pink Floyd there would be no Radiohead. Oh, and we cannot forget Sigur Ros. My point? Well, simple really... the evolution of sound experimentation. The beatles started on a very "pop" note, but further explored and experimented with sound as the years progressed... problem was, they had already nested themselves as a "pop" group... and, as all of this was new to them, this experimentation, it got harder and harder for them to include the trully bizarre stuff... whereas the other groups mentioned were, and currently are, able to.

I look forward to this 14 minute piece.

"Blue Jay Way", imo, is the best Beatles track ever... trully laid the groundwork for other great musicians to experiment.

For those that care to hear the modern continuation of musical experimentation, check out some of Sigur Ros' stuff. (Yes, homeboy does play his guitar with a violin bow)

2002-09-15 11:57:09 AM
In my second paragraph, the "it" I refer to is the "Carnival of Light" song mentioned in the dang article.

McArtney is a smart guy. A lot of old geezers can't use Kazaa, so he keeps releasing old Beatles materials since he knows they'll keep buying it...

2002-09-15 12:20:57 PM
and other old geezers wouldn't touch kazaa. keep your spyware and get a real p2p sharing program.

[/geezer]

2002-09-15 12:23:36 PM
and a thumbs up to the Sigur Ros stuff. I was impressed when I first saw Vanilla Sky and ran to get the soundtrack.

2002-09-15 12:45:20 PM
It sounds to me like a free-form jazz exploration, perhaps one that would be played whilst opening for a puppet show.

"And on the bass guitar, Mister Paul McCartney. He wrote this."

2002-09-15 01:07:20 PM
what? the beatles have started covering dead can dance?

D-Z:

There's a new Harrison album due in November.

2002-09-15 02:27:33 PM
Hmm, such a shame.

Anyone (and there's always at least one person in a thread) dissing the Beatles, remember this: At the time, the Beatles were simply the most radical, amazing thing that had ever existed. My mother grew up in London, was a teenager in the 60s, and told me many stories of how crazy people were over those boys. And if you doubt their musical talents, pick up an instrument and write 30 songs that people 40 years from now will know.

Sorry for digressing. People who post "xxxxx sucks" just to post it piss me the fark off. I don't

Now on to my point: The Beatles are still my favourite band. But this is just wrong. This track sounds like it should never have been played for lab rats, never mind released 35 years after it was recorded to great fanfare. No matter how much we love their songs, we don't want to hear their screwing-around-on-drugs tracks. Revolution #9 was bad enough. So was a small percentage of all the albums after Rubber Soul. We don't need more.

Now, if they stumbled on recordings of "songs we forgot to put on Rubber Soul, Revolver, and For Sale", I'd be all there.

2002-09-15 02:30:13 PM
The Beatles just rule.

And that is that.

2002-09-15 02:45:12 PM
worst. use of doo dah. ever.

2002-09-15 02:50:47 PM
The Beatles set the standard of the performers of the music not only PLAYING INSTRUMENTS!!, but also WRITING THEIR OWN MATERIAL. It was actually quite rare before The Beatles, and has been the standard for rock music since The Beatles. (I did say rock music, not pop, which is where you would classify your N Stinks and Madonnas.)

2002-09-15 02:55:32 PM
I was once called an asshole on a message board for stating that I didn't really like the Beatles. I didn't say they 'sucked', I didn't call 'em lame, I just said I didn't like 'em that much. And some douchebag called me an asshole for it. Some people take this shiat waaaaay too seriously.

2002-09-15 03:00:38 PM
I've downloaded a few of McCartney's "Liverpool Sound Collage" songs. They sound like I imagine this Beatles song will--lots of noises and ambient sounds. Kinda cool, actually. I don't know when this CD was recorded, but John Lennon's voice is obviously featured on one track. Probably just a recording of it though.

One of the song titles is "Real Gone Dub Made Manifest in the Vortex of the Eternal Now" which is funny when you think of McCartney saying that is his gear Liverpool accent.

2002-09-15 03:17:12 PM
yyaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy !!!!!

2002-09-15 03:25:25 PM
Death_Zero: My wife and I were talking about that very thing last month..Townshend and Daltry should get together with McCartney and Starr..would be interesting,to say the least.

2002-09-15 04:07:23 PM
Of course, if there had been no Elvis, Jerry Lee, Chuck Berry, there would be no Beatles. If there had been no black delta blues, there would be no Elvis, ect.

2002-09-15 04:14:30 PM
Confabulat: Liverpool Sound Collage was put together by the members of the Super Furry Animals (who kick all ass, go buy Rings Around the World), by samples that Paul gave them. Paul had a hand in it, but its a modern remix of various Beatle sound bites. This new track will be Beatle in-studio jamming of some sort. Totally different, I would think.

2002-09-15 04:17:59 PM
You know, the Beatles are Gods and whatnot, but if this song wasn't fit for release back then...crap.

We all know anyway that Paul is slowly killing off the Beatles. Ringo would be dead by now if he just weren't so evasive.

2002-09-15 05:54:59 PM
Damn...sorry about the grammar.

2002-09-15 06:05:51 PM
when i want a 14 minute song i surrender to the phlow

2002-09-15 08:47:35 PM
To the dildo who said McCartney was milking the last of the Beatles material by releasing this:

You don't have a farking clue.

As a Beatles collector, I cant tell you there's enough unreleased stuff in the vaults for MANY more albums. Just a matter of stretching the releases to maximize mileage from as little "new" material at a time as possible.

But it's SO COOL on Fark to say something or someone who is popular sucks.

2002-09-15 09:00:33 PM
EvilHomer, I said that McCartney is milking the unreleased material. I also said that The Beatles set the standard for modern rock bands by writing their own material. I also happen to think that The Beatles wrote the greatest music of the Rock era, and nobody since has come close on a consistent basis.
That said, "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love", as released on the Anthology albums and produced by Jeff Lynne, (Why not George Martin?) were far, far below the incredibly high standards previously set by The Beatles. I would hope that the song McCartney releases, expirimental though it may be, is not going to be totally re-engineered as the afformentioned disappointments were. Hopefully it can stand on its' own.

2002-09-15 09:37:14 PM
Well I'd rather see you dead little child, won't you dance with diamonds. Lucy in the town where I dig a pony well here's another clue for you all together, right now.

Partial overlapping lyrics from eight tunes, I think.

Name them all, in order, and win a box of dirt from my backyard.*
