I am 15 minutes into '40 Year Old Virgin' and I am wondering if it gets funny.

Ok, the part about the horse show was hilarious, but past that I am wondering why people scream phrases from this.

I never thought it was quote-worthy, but I thought it had some funny parts. Actually, I just want his apartment.

"tackle" is slang for your dick.

Next time you watch the 1953 version of 'War of the Worlds' try not to giggle uncontrollably when she says, "you must have caught a lot with all that tackle"

Also, Dr. Clayton Forrester knows how to get biatches.

I'll just assume you're too young to know about the "Rocky Mountain Horror Picture Show".

/NO, I will not
// you can just google it yourself

Thanks for tipping me off to the obscure cult hit "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". I'll be sure to look for it. I just got a bootleg copy of this space epic called "Star Wars" you should look into. It might be a little out there for the viewing public, but I think you're ready for it.

Sometimes I stay awake at night wondering if it was the Police Academy films that ruined Steve Gutenberg, or was it Cocoon?

I think he was a serious film away from becoming the next (or indeed the other) Tom Hanks.

  2008-01-04 03:09:26 PM
That would imply that Cocoon wasn't a serious movie. This is where your logic is flawed.

  2008-01-05 06:59:41 AM
Cocoon was a kinda sci fi romantic comedy for wrinkly folk. It's no Road to Perdition.

Anyone planning on seeing Cloverfield?

I can't decide if the monster is "a la Lost".... a giant cloud of black that makes noise or something else

I am watching Master of the Flying Guillotine and it bothers me that these guys have spent decades honing their art only to be killed in some peasant village.

True, i am sure their belief system says that there is some honor in being defeated or winning in battle against a guy with an awesome gimmick but Christ, what a waste.

I am hanging out to see Cloverfield, but mostly because I love films where New York gets trashed almost as much as I like films where Meg Ryan dies. Courage Under Fire is like porn for me.

I loved the portrayals of computers in 80s movies like Weird Science and Tron. It's like these corporate and personal computers with four megs of ram and a 50mhz processor were doing these amazing things like creating virtual worlds and women when the laptop I am typing this on is more powerful than almost anything from back then.

indefensible: I am hanging out to see Cloverfield, but mostly because I love films where New York gets trashed almost as much as I like films where Meg Ryan dies. Courage Under Fire is like porn for me.

Boy do I have the right film for you then. (new window)

Italian Cinema: gotta get me some of that.

Don't get him started on his love of Rocco Siffredi (pops) and HIT* action.

Trolley_Dolly: *head in toilet

Shoving a woman's head in the toilet and then plundering her anus is how Italians say 'I love you'.

I was listening to Howard Stern one time and he was interviewing a porn star who said that while in the middle of analizing her, Rocco had the good manners to shake her husband's hand.

Then he said 'That's a spicy meat-a-ball!'

The Klan scene from O' Brother... should have been one of the greatest scenes in movie history but the solo singing damages it. It's too organic when placed against the backdrop of the KKK automatons.

"condescended from monkeys"

indefensible: Then he said 'That's a spicy meat-a-ball!'

Then a monkey threw a flaming barrel at him.

SockMonkeyHolocaust: analizing

I would like to see a porn movie called 'Analize THIS' starring Ron Jeremy in the De Niro Role. Well, I don't want to see it, but I would be happy if it existed.

  2008-01-10 07:05:36 PM
Ugh, I know that Ron Jeremy is wish fulfillment for a lot of ugly guys but I never want to see him in anything ever again.

  2008-01-10 08:56:36 PM
OKOKOK how about just someone makes a movie where post 'Heat' De Niro gets sodomised for sport? Also, he is dressed as a clown plus he is in stocks.

Only if the entire movie is scored with the histrionic melodrama of the opening of Casino where Coppola wants everyone to know that the movie is a product of his genius.

OK, who backwashed all over Rotten Tomatoes, and how long will it take for us to get over it?

  2008-01-16 01:03:30 PM
Rotten Tomatoes visitors have held the original Clerks in the top percentile. So your answer is "The fans. The fans have backwashed all over Rotten Tomatoes".

That stink you smell now is me because I farted and Kevin Smith is basing Clerks III on the experience.

"Don't underestimate American blundering. I was with them when they blundered into Berlin in 1918" is the most effective way of making a German shut up. Ever.

'Sup bro, they can replicate Kansas. Anyone can replicate Kansas but they will never touch the raw power of the collected output of BTO. It goes against Occidental culture to rock that much.

Trust me on this bro.

I really liked Cloverfield because I think it shoehorned like 5 types of film into 84 minutes. In that way it was very much like a best-of gonzo porn film.

A++ would see again. That was my idea of a "feel good" film. I love movies where everyone bites it.

Earth verse the Flying Saucers is a remarkable movie because of the indescriminate violence shown towards innocent people. Yeah, you'll get the Washington Monument dropped on you, know why? Because MARTIANS don't care.

The final battle scene is just amazing for not only its special effects but also the body count, not to mention one of the most subversive things you could do back in 1956 was showing Washington DC getting shiathoused by outside forces.

The weird thing is that if Knight's Tale wasn't scored with such 70s power rock luminaries as Bachman Turner Overdrive and Queen, it would have been a terrible movie.

I'm pretty sure that Freddie Mercury gets a mention in "The Canterbury Tales". The Sodomist's Tale, wasn't it?

I just realized that The Brothers Grimm was primarily Terry Gilliam's attempt to troll the French and that the story was secondary to him getting to talk shiat about the Frogs.
