Incredible comeback in the early game by Arsenal. Lehmann looked really shaken the whole match, I have no idea what was going on with him. To boot, the Arsenal back five is a shambles. I think they really need Gilberto to soak up loose balls.

On the other end of the pitch, the Fulham time wasting was shameful. But Hleb scored the second goal on a brilliant piece of uncharacteristically selfish play. I would have bet money on him passing, but the hand of Maradonna touched him in his nether regions and he shot.

And Chelsea's already leading 2-1.

Man U should handle Reading as well.

Wow, Birmingham 2-2 with Chelsea

Another hour and a half for that one.

Hanneman has been brilliant. It should be 10-0.

timmy_the_tooth: Hanneman has been brilliant. It should be 10-0.

if they can hold on through stoppage he's without a doubt the hero of the match
2007-08-12 12:54:28 PM
that was a pretty weak call
2007-08-12 12:54:49 PM

2007-08-12 01:05:49 PM
Hell yeah, Hanneman is the man! Reading deserve the point.
2007-08-12 01:08:21 PM
Great game by Reading especially holding down the fort with only 10 men.

Whats up with Arsenal, they looked like a bunch of whiney little sissy girls, oh yeah i forgot they are.
2007-08-12 01:12:02 PM
I took a live bet on the Man U being a Draw at the 83rd minute mark, i almost sharted myself after the ref called that last second freekick near the top of the box.

wow. Load up on Man U for their next game.
2007-08-12 01:25:55 PM
All I have to say is...

HA! Way to drop silly points ManUre!

//Liverpool is bound to do it as well, if history is anything to go by
2007-08-12 01:27:12 PM
Ronaldo hasn't quite gotten his shooting touch yet, has he? Man U kept hammering at it, but Hanneman was excellent in goal. Well done Reading. Wayne Rooney off at the change, so I wonder how serious that was.
2007-08-12 01:34:27 PM
Go Reading!
Yanks have mad goaltending skillz! ;)
2007-08-12 01:53:04 PM
City are ahead of those bums from Trafford

/hahahahahahaha suck it Red Devils
2007-08-12 02:10:28 PM
let's all bask in the failure of united, it won't last long, i knew there'd be an upset and in every game i was expecting one - Arsenal getting through by the skin of their teeth, Chelsea poor at the back but have improved up front, and then Reading erecting a brick wall

I was so happy when it got to the last 10 mins and Fulham were still holding on, Arsenal had the skills but lacked any real threat, Fulham were last-ditch defending for over 90 minutes, good organisation, good counter attacking and some wonderful keeping from Warner, and then they go and bloody give a penalty away - they deserved a point at least but it went exactly the way Liverpool went yesterday, minus Stevie's wonder goal

Birmingham looked quite weak at the back, although some nice attacking play and considering what they were up against they could do well if they keep it up and tighten defensively a bit, I felt Chelsea have improved from last season simply because they were better up front with wright-philips, malouda and pizarro which let them off some shocking defending

Reading looked similar to last season so i'm hopeful they won't be suffering from second-season-syndrome, very organised and some great keeping to deny united from what should've been their victory, at home too! i'm not going to be writing off united just yet, reading are a decent side and i expect them to trouble everyone they play - kitson is so getting a smack right now

remember there are games mid-week people!

Top of the League!
2007-08-12 02:19:12 PM
Zombie Hitler: Top of the League!

yeah i don't get that, you're equal with city and they're ahead alphabetically - i didn't think they used the most goals scored rule in that situation, guess they must do
2007-08-12 02:30:22 PM
Warner was fantastic - Arsenal had something like 14 shots on target and he kept almost everything out
2007-08-12 02:33:09 PM
Rooney out for a month.....

ugggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh : [
2007-08-12 02:48:01 PM
I was really hoping Fulham pulled it out, but not to be. ManUre drawing was funny, all that talent and couldn't finish. Only 13 more days til Series A begins...

//Fox Soccer Channel did a good job on opening weekend

i pity you, having to play Tevez instead

does mean we might have some fresh faces for the germany game tho

If Reading could hold Man U while down a man, I think they can survive. Hell, they did better than Aston Villa did with a full compliment on the field (poor Laursen). The issue for Reading is going to be scoring, as I think they can do one of the other: throw in on defence, or throw in on offense.

Man U are still my pick for the title. I have a bad feeling for Wenger though, as if the reports of him being stressed to the gills are true, I hope he doesn't have a Houllier.
2007-08-12 04:57:39 PM
agreed candle44 hopefully the stress won't get to him. Gotta say I don't see Man u regaining the title either Chelski or Liverpool are my picks, but as long as the Gunners get better than 4th then i'll be happy.

Lehman was probably nervous because Arsenal are looking into buying Celtic's goalkeeper as a long-term replacement for him. seems like the type of guy who would let that get to him.
2007-08-12 05:17:40 PM
ravenspore: I would be nervous as well. Boruc is the real deal between the pipes. Arsenal don't need a goaltender, so much as they need a defence. Liverpool could mount a serious title challenge, but it seems Rafa's forumla is to do well enough to get into the CL and then make the push to win it.

Knowing it will never happen, but wishing it anyway: If Cardiff can play in the damn league, can we get Celtic in already? What, Welsh teams are okay, but Scottish no? Right. Go bhoys.
2007-08-12 05:20:05 PM
i pity you, having to play Tevez instead

Just cause we have Tevez doesn't mean it's ok that Rooney is injured.
2007-08-12 07:09:47 PM
well one thing in defense of arsenals defense...i like this new sagna boy....he made one or two clutch plays
2007-08-12 07:38:22 PM
I should say that Liverpool looked impressive yesterday.. as well as Newcastle. O Martins is a joy to observe. Watch for Liverpool though to gain a nice lead in points during the beginning of the season.

Man U had one of those games it seems. Which leads me to believe that they will absolutely stomp out Portsmouth on Wend.

OTOH.. My personal fav,,, Chelski.. will do their best to fill gaps and adjust to their new players. Also, I think Jose is trying to work a little different style into the mix. Once Drogba is healthy watch for him and Malouda to mix together fantastically. Note: Lamps needs to get his head out of his ars and Wright-Phillips needs to be benched..

/My predictions and observations
//Ronaldo is OVERRATED
//even more

I think the point is... Youll be alright ;)
2007-08-12 08:02:36 PM
What do you mean SWP needs to be benched? He set up two of Chelsea's goals, and had two chances on his own. He's a fantastic playmaker.

/Wishes City hadn't sold him to Chelsea

damn straight and Tim Howard isn't bad either
2007-08-12 09:24:09 PM
Bobby Convey should start to see some game time in a few more weeks as well.
2007-08-12 10:25:51 PM
I turned on the Arsenal-Fulham match at about 2 minutes in and it was 1-0 Fulham. My jaw hit the floor. Luckily Fulham found a way to lose the 3 points, then lose the 1 point. I was unaware that Hleb knew how to shoot.
2007-08-13 10:00:57 AM
Chelsea looked good at defense, and won there 61 million straight match at stamford bridge
Drogba and Essien where injured
Since Chelsea dot com does not provide any vital information , is there another source to investigate injuries to certain players besides reda$$ rooney?

i owe Hannermahammer a pint!
2007-08-13 12:18:57 PM
whoever put hannerhamermhan as their goalie in the fantasy league with captain status is a dirty dirty cheater

spittersRquitters: whoever put hannerhamermhan as their goalie in the fantasy league with captain status is a dirty dirty cheater

yeah i don't know how some people managed to do that, a goalkeeper against united as well, i suppose a lot of shots were expected but still

it happens most weeks with weird choices like that, the more people in the league the more chance you'll see something ultra-lucky, i guess
