SteelCityKid: they both fell 40 feet, and THEN he kicked his ass. I hope this was a troll and not blatant stupidity.

Not stupidity. I just fail to see why a police officer kicking an injured man's ass is hero-tag material. Just because the officer himself may have also been hurt isn't justification.

I generally think cops are ok, but when I see a headline that calls a cop a "hero" for kicking a civillian's ass, then I get a bit frustrated.

You know what's frustrating? Falling 40 feet while chasing a perp who stole a car. You know what relieves some of the frustration? Getting in a couple shots while you slap the cuffs on the douche bag perp.

Ah, yes, because staying out of certain areas is all you need to ensure crime will never cross your path.

It will sure reduce the odds.

Just came to say.. The only good cop is a dog cop.

You know what we shouldn't be condoning? Police brutality. The guy may have been guilty as all fark, but saying the cop is a hero for kicking an injured man's ass is stupid. It just opens doors out of which we can throw this guy's conviction.

/not saying it didn't feel good to the officer at the time, but it's simply not deserving of a hero tag if it in fact went down as subby posted. the article is weak on the details and my beef is strictly toward subby saying that the cops should be heroes for kicking a hurt guy's ass.

SteelCityKid: More surprising: A white man in the Hill District. That screams crazy all over.

No, that screams white man (probably from the 'burbs) trying to score some drugs.

THX 1138: Submitter posts a headline about a police officer kicking the ass of an injured man who just fell 40 feet and had multiple fractures. And gives it a hero tag.

woooo.

Since you know that the perp had multiple fractures, I'll assume that you RTFA. And since you RTFA, you know that the article said nothing about the cop kicking the perp's ass. In fact, since "Assault on an Officer" is not among the charges listed in the TFA, one might conclude that the officer did not have to fight the perp, since, if he had, I assure you that he would have charged the perp with assault to cover himself civilly. But do carry on. Don't let the facts get in the way of your prejudices.

Damn you are stupid. I really hope you are trolling. Ok then, you must have parents right? Pop quiz, hot shot. Say you are going to visit mom or dad, you get to their house and find the place ransacked, and mom and/or dad are lying on the floor. They have been shot and don't have long to live. Who do you call?

Is this a trick question?
Paramedics!
I doubt a police officer is going to help your parents live much longer if they are already about to die anyway.

Did I miss something in the article? The Fark headline is the only thing that indicates that the perp got his ass kicked. I would assume that the officer got his jabs in while slapping the cuffs on, but the article doesn't say anything along those lines. Besides, it was a white man being chased through the hill district so what's the big deal?

bel4sucks: You know, after years of seeing "Cops" and shows like it, I have a question. Why is it, when a car runs, the cops rough the passenger up as bad as the driver. I can understand if the passenger was in the commission of a crime with the driver, but too often it seems the passenger gets farked up for no reason. I only mention it because the article makes mention of the passenger too

FTA: Another officer responding to the scene approached the vehicle where a passenger sat. Officials said the passenger surrendered without incident.

I highly doubt that this particular passenger got too farked up if he was just sitting there, waiting to be arrested without incident.

Well, here in Texas, it's because the cop knows that if they get released to go on their way (traffic stop, minor offense, etc.), the passenger will ultimately turn to the driver and say, "Man, I wish that SOB had tried that shiat with ME!".

/Sorry, old joke.
/Surprised no one else waded in with it.

@usedcorn "The dog was to smart to jump"
That was the first thing I thought too...
@SpaceButler "Ah, yes, because staying out of certain areas is all you need to ensure crime will never cross your path."

Ya, because according to their logic those Predators stay in their designated areas so with their 4k a month rent on a flat they are perfectly safe. Guess they never heard the joke about my bike...

@FLMountainMan "Wow, so you're a racist who hates cops? What "protests" do these cops harass you at? KKK marches?"

+1

itsthesmell: I'll assume that you RTFA. And since you RTFA, you know that the article said nothing about the cop kicking the perp's ass.

Exactly my point.

I'll assume you read my post (it's 4 spaces above yours), where I clearly said that my prob was with subby making it sound like a cop had committed brutality (which actually was completely contrary to the article), and then subby called him a hero specifically for this fabricated ass-kicking.

- Catching bad guys, whether you're injured or not? Awesome!
- Giving a beatdown to a hurt man, as submitter implied? Uncool.

The dog officer is thinking one thing: Chew the perp, get the treat.

The dog officer is not phased by a 40ft fall because the dog officer is concerned primarily with perp chewing to get treats.

My dog would jump of a 40ft cliff for, perhaps, the reward of a blueberry. She's trained to seek the reward and do whatever to get it.

One-Eyed-Jack: they are just a bunch of jack-booted thugs that think they are some how more privileged then the rest of society.

Funny, I think the same thing of protestors, and I'm not even a Jack-booted thug, soldier or a cop.

Hell, I don't even wear boots at all.

Face it you're just mad because when you and your stinky hippie buddies spit and curse at cops, they can mace, taser, cuff and charge you. And you just don't think that's fair.

Loser.

I'm not waltzing my white Irish ass though Harlem at 2 AM. There aren't any of those people where I live, what do I have to worry about?

You're ignorant. Not forgiveable, you don't know any better ingnorant, just plain old stupid ignorant.

Some people robbed a Pizza Hut I was at in Portland. They came in with automatic weapons, threatened everyone, then made us get down on the ground in the back took our wallets, scared the shiat outta some lady till she passed out, took the money in the safe and left.

This was not a bad area of Portland. While crime may indeed happen more frequently in certain locations, you are in no way completley immune to it happening to you even where you think you are completely safe.

I say again, you are willfully ignorant. That or a troll. I can flip a coin at this point.

K-9 Officer Daniel Hartung from Zone 2 chased a suspected stolen vehicle from the Hill District to Oakland around 4:!5 a.m. Wednesday.

Anyone else think that "Daniel Hartung" is an odd name for a dog?

It's been my experience that the Pittsburgh K9 force is a great bunch of guys. They tour elementary schools with their adorable yet badass doggie friends, they're always willing to answer questions about how said dogs are trained, and they're uniquely understanding when one explains that the fire alarm has not interrupted an attempted kidnapping, but quality time, and that the slaveboy really likes the ropes, honestly.

One actually asked where we got the leather armbinder. It's cool to know your cops like the same sorts of things that civilians do.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way, sport. You call 911 for that type of situation the cops are gonna be dispatched along with the ambulance to the scene. The police will actually go to the house first with the medics staging, who probably won't proceed until the scene is deemed safe by the po-po. And if you lie and the paramedics show up to a crime scene, they're gonna radio dispatch for the police anyways.

You're full of shiat though, so I'm really just wasting my time trying to explain how it works in the real world and not in tv land.
