Bank employee is a retard. I'd never risk my life ot protect someone else's money.
Hell, if someone tried to rob me of MY money, I'd let them have it too.

Money is just money, My life is much more valuable.

Wonderful, more moronic vigilantes.

There was a 50% chance we'd be reading a very different headline:
"Dozens shot in botched bank robbery."

Hey, if I work for a bank, I'd be happy to give their money away.

Give me a cut 0.5% of the vault and I might defend it, because it's MY money I am defending.

Otherwise, it's just an employer's property, the same employer that doesn't give two shiats about my health let alone my property, one that is insured by the federal government to cover loses I might add.

/Defending one's home or possessions does not include taking one in the butt for the employer ya dumbass chickenhawk.

You misunderstand me, my friend. I can list off a bunch of reasons why it makes sense to lay down your life in SOME cases.
Protecting the money of a rich person, for me, just isn't one of them.

I'm a coward when it comes to dying for a STUPID reason.

I was more of less talking about how you said you'd surrended your own property without a fight. I wouldn't protect my boss' money either (unless I was being paid to).

my red swingline 747. I work for a bank, but lucky for the crims, I'm not in a branch.

Here's the deal, from a 20 year bank employee. We are trained repeatedly to just let the money go, that's what insurance is for.

It takes a lot of balls to take not only your own life, but the lives of your workmates into your own hands.

The comment about the headline reading dozens shot in botched bank robbery is right on the money.

Would-be robber beatdown trifecta in play.

2007-07-27 04:29:02 PM
kidtruth: Wonderful, more moronic vigilantes.

My dad worked in a bank that was held up in the 70's. As the robber turned to leave, dad threw a coke bottle at the guy that hit him square on the back of his head. Luckily the guy didn't retaliate but just legged it out of the bank.

Later, when people asked him why he did it, dad said he was so angry that someone had threatened him with a gun. It was only when the bottle was halfway to the gunman's head that his blind rage cleared and he suddenly thought 'oh shiat'.

While it's easy to say that it's someone else's money, the fact of the matter is that it's your life that's being threatened.

I don't think it's that they just wanted to take the guy down.
I think it was more of a reaction out of fear.

Having been in a similar situation, I can say that when you're looking down the wrong end of a would-be robber's gun, you don't think "hey I can be a hero if I beat this guy's ass."
It's more like, "I've gotta cave this guy's skull in or he's going to shoot me."

/Just a tip, when they get all paranoid and are looking all over the place for witnesses and to see who's looking at them, you (hopefully) can get a good shot in on the jaw.
//Grab the gun hand with what ever hand you didn't him him with or he'll shoot you for sure.

No it doesn't. He could easily have a gun concealed and not have wanted to use it unless necessary.

It DOES however, increase the idiot theory. You are safe, not gonna get killed, but you risk harm for the money of some douchebag corporation. I wouldn't lift a finger to help a bank, money is insured. My OWN stuff, I am far more likely to defend.

My wife is a bank teller who's been robbed, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.

Seriously, the robber is robbing the insurance company. The teller loses nothing, the bank loses nothing. Just give him the money and let him go.

It's actually a bank in Ft Worth. My dad banks there and my friend's husband works there.

my friends bank got robbed about a year ago...small credit union...turns out the guy didnt even have a gun but the best part of the story is when the robber was collecting the cash my friend freaked out and gave the guy her wallet....at which point he asked for all the tellers wallets....the contents of my friends wallet....5 bucks, a check card, and a sams club or costco membership....contents of the other tellers and manager wallet...priceless

I would have taken out my illegally modded saiga shotgun and killed him. Then I would track down his next of kin and burn their house down with this 50-gallon drum of napalm and phosphorous. If it means killing hundreds in the process so be it!!!

/Praise the Emperor!

My mom use to work as a teller in the 80's. One day a guy, who obviously just had his finger in his pocket, tried to rob the teller next to her. The woman was having such a shiatty day that she said "No, get out." The guy was so shocked he left.

mar19: It's more like, "I've gotta cave this guy's skull in or he's going to shoot me."

But...but I've been assured that giving the criminal what he (or she, as the case may be) wants will guarantee that the criminal will not shoot. That's why people don't need to have the knowledge or means to defend themselves!

2007-07-27 06:32:07 PM
PWNED!!!

While I generally applaud nipping crime in the bud, I take exception with banks. Generally speaking, it's better to let the robber make it out with cash & dye pack. Typically, they're caught later. All this is predicated on the robber just quietly robbing the bank. If they get uppity and start threatening people then it's time for some CCW'ers to plug their ass. Stupid should hurt.
