Uh... if you care to read the article, it's about Rather finally acknowledging the Chandra Levy crap, not about his, er, own intern.

If you ever wondered if Rather was biased, this should explain everything.

I am getting sick of crappy submissions with misleading headlines people!!!

2001-07-19 10:08:35 AM
No kidding, Shane.
This is getting way out of hand.

Whoever submits articles with headlines that have nothing to do with the actual story should go on to a Top25Moron list.

I think there should be a flaf for misleading headlines and if the person did submit something fake, then they shouldbe banned from submitting.

2001-07-19 10:23:16 AM
I think they should be identified and publicly humiliated.

2001-07-19 10:36:43 AM
Now, there's a thought. If Drew were to include the user-name of the person who submitted the article at the end of the title, we would at least know who submits good titles/articles on a regular basis and who's posts to avoid.

2001-07-19 10:37:03 AM
So, how many false headlines is this now in the past few days? Makes me wonder if anyone at Fark reads more than the headlines before deciding to allow the submission to be posted on the main page.

2001-07-19 10:38:59 AM
Yeah this was Drudge's headline. Which while false was still pretty funny

As much as I dislike him, I'm with Rather on this one. It reminds of the whole "JFK Jr. is missing" saga. I'm sorry for the friends and family of Chandra Levy. Still, such "disappearances" happen every day and never make the news. There are more important things to discuss. The farking media want this to be a scandal and now they won't relent.

This, of course, is why I get my news from fark.com.

If Condit were a republican, Rather would be slobbering all over the story, just like he did with Oregon Senator Bob Packwood in 1992.

Bob Dole had a few interns disappear after intimate encounters. Bob Dole remembers screaming...

Mme : You can piss and moan about the headline (which has, oddly enough changed) to the original poster of the offending headline Here

This is kind of like copying someone's term paper then complaining to the teacher when it gets an "F" that you shouldnt be held responsible, as you were not the original author.

The point here is is that whoever posted this story didn't bother to actually read it. Why would you put a story on fark for others to read if you didn't even read it yourself?

And I'm pretty sure that I saw this on drudgereport as soon he posted it yesterday. The headline was never "Dan Rather's intern is missing too." That's just not a drudge sounding headline.

you mean to tell me that Drudge posted something that was an outright lie on his site? I'm not buying that. While I get a kick out of everything that goes up on this site (I'm probably one of the sad few who read EVERY article) the false headlines can be annoying - but on the brighter side, the articles are never a waste of time. My point - the deception isn't hurting anything for me, though it is annoying.

Ummm... first, that's not the way the headline was. Drudge wrote that story himself and would not put up a blatantly false headline. A misleading one, yes, but not blatantly false.

And what are you Amen-ing Jax about? I don't think that Jax is being facetious there. He's saying that he doesn't believe YOU. You need to learn to read closer.

Actually, I'm glad at least someone is not sensationalizing the whole thing. It would be nice if someone actually figured out what happened to her before everyone went around pointing fingers and playing FBI. It might be nice to get some facts before convicting whomever is pointed at by the media. There are a few rather more important events going on in the world. Tis why I have to read foreign news outlets every day just to figure out what is really going on other than a missing persons case. I realize there MIGHT be a US Rep involved, but how many people go missing every day? Should we give them all equal coverage?

when you're job gets outsourced to the Philippines you'll care less and less about Condit

i'm with Dan on this one, not sure what drudge is making fun of him for... i like drudgereport alot, but i hate it when the most breaking "news" story on there is: "they found a bone!"

On the other hand it is always fun to go after pious pols who have dirty laundry in their pockets. As far as the family, while I feel for them a lot of this public trial is their doing. They are the ones that brought in the media savy lawyer and spend half their lives on camera (it is a which came first the chicken or the egg question here).

Just a little piece of info. I heard this two days ago from a guy I barely know so I can not vouch for the truth, however, the story today about Condit's brother being sought does add a little gleam of credability to it (Fox News has a story, its the first time I've heard his brother mentioned in all this). This guy calims his neighbor is "in the know" at the US Park Police and said that they were looking for Condit's brother who is a fugitive because 2 days after Levy disapeared he called his lawyer from a Park in WVA and said something like "You gotta help me I'm in big trouble now".

The other thing is I can understand the local news here in DC covering this, I just can't understand why the National new is so involved.

There is a difference between not mentioning it and obsessing about it.

that's a big difference if you're only connection to the outside world is Dan Rather

"and Danny, don't forget to get some eggs too !!"

This scared me when I saw the headline a few minutes ago. Howard Stern said he thought Dan Rather killed her a couple of days ago...and I saw this and I thought "whoa". And yeah, that's about it.

It's amazing to me how the media reports the same story every day without saying anything new (summarized, "Chandra is still missing. There's no new information. We're still going on and on about Rep. Condit, but to be fair, he hasn't been convicted of anything and the police still insist he's not a suspect. But we'll still provide endless coverage insinuating he is until we have proof he's innocent). Yet they still manage to spend what seems like hours on it every day.

Rather's pretty damn dumb, all right -- First he attends a big bash and somehow doesn't know that it's a Democrat fundraiser (Maybe he "had no recollection" of what the invite said!), then he hasn't a clue that a U.S. congressman lied through his teeth about banging a woman missing for over 2 months. Didn't know public schools were so bad in his day, too.
