Headline made me laugh.

Unsurprising, really.

/pre-ordered mine in February

Whew, I was all worried and stuff. Popular always equals excellent.

2007-07-23 10:04:53 AM
Spoilers? Spoilers.

Harry doesn't die! But he almost did. Wow, yippee.... Snape does die, and he was not a "foe" pfft. And Crumb dies. And... a whole bunch of other non-important people. Malfoy does not die. Hermione does not die. Ron does not die.

2007-07-23 10:05:08 AM
I was having too good of a Friday night to wait in line, so I got mine after sleeping in Saturday.

FWIW, it's the best one. While classes were somewhat interesting, I really like how this one has little mention of schooling. The book is full of missions, tying up loose ends.

+1 to subby, good headline.

2007-07-23 10:05:49 AM
Who's Harry Potter?

2007-07-23 10:05:51 AM
Well, I was shocked that J. K. Rowling had Harry die by getting his head stuck in a large can of baked beans. I felt a little let down.

2007-07-23 10:06:56 AM
I have never even held a Hairy Potter (yes I know it's misspelled) book in my hands. I'm sure they are entertaining, but I refuse to get caught up in the hype.

2007-07-23 10:07:01 AM
I finished mine in like 7 hours.

Of course I didn't do anything else from 2-9 on Saturday.

It didn't disappoint.

2007-07-23 10:07:02 AM
That's just over 83 books every second. That's some damn fast Border's cashierin'!

I saw a bunch of old ladies wandering around in BJ's Club yesterday, all reading the last chapter; that was surreal. Three out of four just said they wanted to know how it ended, and they had no interest in buying it whatsoever. Fist time in my life i've ever seen pallets of one single book out on a sales floor.

2007-07-23 10:08:46 AM
I'm guessing this includes pre-orders and online orders.

For me is was HOW he got his head stuck in the big can of baked beans, and the decision making process that Dumbledore went through to put him there.

Got mine at about 12:10 AM on Saturday morning. Waiting 3 hours in line for it. Sped-read it before going to bed. Re-read it Saturday. Loved the actual story, with minor complaints. The Epiloge sucked.

/Rowling will write another one.

I was at the bookstore today and had my hands on one but then somebody blathered about Harry getting his head stuck in a large can of baked beans and dying and stuff so I said screw that and bought Jim Norton's Happy Endings instead.

Yeah... I thought it stretched my suspension of disbelief just a little too far that Dumbledoor managed to convince Harry that the last bean stuck in the bottom of the can was the most delicious. Everyone knows that it's the beans on top that are the best. Still, who knew that Lily Potter's secret bean magic was what REALLY saved Harry as a baby?

Best book of the series.

Some like the Harry Potter books, others of course will either not care for them or try to play the ultra cool rebel and say they would never.

Either way makes no difference.

I enjoyed the series and this was the best book of the series.

Perhaps the funniest part of the book was when the Hippogriff and the Centaur got caught in the deep forest having homosexual, cross breed sex and by doing it doggy style.

Hagrid caught them but after a few moments of awkward silence Hagrid joined in and they had a daisy chain of desire going.

\ok..no daisy chain of desire

More spoilers:

Ron and Harry share that long awaited kiss. Hermione outs them to the reincarnated Dumbledore and reincarnated Patrick Duffy. After seeing Harry's wand, Frodo Baggins gives him a ring, but Ron casts a +11 fire elemental and torches Frodo's tallywacker. Voldermort turns out to be Harry's father. Harry casts level 25 inseminate on that asian chick who gives birth to something resembling a snake. The snake gets on a plane and Samuel L Jackson is totally not having it. The book ends when everyone gets rescued but decides that it is best to live out their lives on that island.

Read Book #1 to some kids I was baby sitting, never really got into it. My girlfriend on the other hand loves them and dressed up as a witch and went to get it. I was innocently sitting at home with friends on Saturday morning drinking beer, playing poker and watching Pulp Fiction, the next thing I know I'm at the store buying her Red Bull so she can pull an all nighter with the book.

/Damn books

You clearly mis-read the book. Ron gave Harry a rusty trombone, THEN a kiss. That's how the horcrux was removed from Harry. Dumbass. If you're going to spoil it for people, at least give the important details!
