What the hell is wrong with looking out the window and seeing the world? My 3 year old is happy as hell to be in the car looking around reading to me what is on the signs and trucks we pass (yes he can really read). I don't understand the parents who need to put a dvd in to pacify the kids until they can drive 15 minutes down the road to wherever they are going.

Hey, that electronic-sun-visor idea is straight out of one of Niven's Known Space stories. "Grendel"? Yeah, I think that was it. Only Niven had it built into goggles, which I think might actually be easier.

submitter: All roads lead to McDonalds

They sure do.

/firefox's Google search autosuggested "McDonalds fat kid" when I typed in "McDonalds"

My parents say that for a while I was thrilled just to have the red cardboard french fry sleeve. Then I found out about what was in them.

I have since grown up, and only go to McDonalds on a road trip if nothing else is convenient.

Will the rest of america grow up and join me in saying "McDonalds sucks"

It does but there is something about those 99 cent double cheeseburgers. I kind of like them. That's the only thing I'll eat from McDonald's.

Hey, if the system will teach the kids geography, it's not that bad of an idea.

I would've killed for one of these as a tyke.

And you won't have to hear "Are we there yet?" ten thousand times. I grew up in northern Maine. I'd make the 2.5 hour trek down to see my grandmother a couple of times a year. There's nothing but f'ing trees the entire way. I would've killed for something like this as a kid!

From article:
"Others include an electronic sun visor, which uses an eye monitor and a sun-status sensor to darken the car's windshield to minimize glare"

It's about time they do something like that, I'd like to see all windows turn completely dark when the car is off and locked. (minimizes heat in the car and no one can see in your car)
