I read in another story that this was a Porsche 911 Targa 4. How the hell does a 911 Targa 4 cost $300,000?? Is it just in the exchange rate or are these writers just being silly?

2007-07-18 08:15:45 PM
I won't say this guy is a criminal mastermind by any means, but if he's aiming to drive that car around for a while, he's doing a pretty smart job of it so far. He had the forethought to keep the keys, he learned from his first mistake and took some gas with him and he DIDN'T get caught for a second time.

I'm amused though someone's paying a lot of money for his actions that likely won't ever be recovered. :(

A 911 Targa4 isn't worth the pavement it sits on.

I call it junk. You call it what you will.

Why do you think so? I am pretty sure most of us would not pay what they want for it even if we had the money, but you seem to have a very negative opinion.

hummm..could it be theres something inside the car? payoff for a drug deal maybe?
/once was paid to tow a car that had ran out of gas, five hundred miles away. it was full of money........
//in the old days, i "heard" that you should buy a car with cash, then fill it with stuff and have it towed to some closed shop and dropped off. worked real well with new cars, just more paper work.

Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Maybach, Bentley, Saleen ect.

Maybach is a Mercedes as far as I know and a Saleen is a reworked Ford...

AuralArgument: Call me when you got a Gumpert Apollo or better

Why? It's a direct competitor to the GT3 and S7 and performs in a very similar manner. It even looks a lot like them. There's really nothing particularly special about it (well, as far as "not special" goes in supercar territory anyway).

AuralArgument: Apollos, ugly as sin. Hey, at the asking price, I want it to go 0-60 in 1 second & a top end of 250 & pull 1.8g on a 200 skidpad.

The great thing about brain damage is that you have no sense of fear or self doubt. Ted Bundy escaped jail more often than Houdini could have managed. How do they do that? I mean, it's jail! Too bad sociopathy comes with all that other junk, like being a monster 'n all, or I'd sign up.

My car was stolen last week. Police found it Monday; just had the ignition fixed today.

The thieves stole:
My artwork, in my portfolio in my trunk, for my art class.
My art supplies, also with the portfolio.
My speakers.
My stereo.
My antenna.
Assorted backup copies of CDs, which I am glad are only the backup copies.
The knob that controls my air-conditioning.
All my spare change, minus the pennies.
The emblem on the back of my car (a shiatty '93 accord. My guess is just for their collection of emblems from the cars they've stolen)

They left:
"Beer" bottles, specifically Bud Light, all over the floor of my vehicle.
Two towels.
A screwdriver, which they used to start the ignition.

The police:
Say the case is closed. I got my car back, and Justice doesn't give a fark about me.
Charged me $30 for the towing.

Anyways, I guess if the Porsche was stolen from the dealership, I don't really feel sorry for anyone.

i don't think there is a 300k porsche

the 911 turbo is 150k, next up is the carrera GT for 440k

none for 300

/mmm, 911 turbo

Gumpert. Meh. I still want an R34, which when tuned can gun down any super car except the F1 and the Veyron. And I get cup holders and a fancy little touch screen to see my car's performance.

Cyclonic Cooking Action: a Saleen is a reworked Ford

Ehhh... not exactly. Saleen does Ford-approved aftermarket work on Mustangs, F-150s, and Explorers, and they did handle assembly from the GT, but Saleen is actually a completely different company and they build their own cars in the S7 line.

In fact, the "top of the line" rebuilds for the Mustangs and trucks actually include a complete engine swap from the Ford motor to a Saleen-built mimicry of the original motor.

The Erratic Escape Artist that sucks. but at least you got it back. on the up side, right now theres a guy from south of the border learning how to draw properly..
/ towels or a shirt is used to cover the ignition thats been popped, just a red flag to the police.
invest $20 bucks in a kill switch, they may break in but not going anywhere. (if you can afford it, get a keyed one, placed in the wheel well)

Why not the GT-R? It's basically a hardened version of the R34.

The Erratic Escape Artist But hey, at least they left the Creedence.

Glitchwerk

You've been reading too much Sport Compact Car. don't get me wrong, Godzilla is a beast (I've driven one), but "tuning" can mean anything from Stock-class autocrossers to GT1 purpose-built machines.

Probably since it's so new, there isn't as big a tuning market for them as the old ones. There will be, oh there will be... but for now all we can do is wait.
