Um, thanks for the picture of Eva. It's much more useful than the actual car she is standing next to...which is what your entire article is about.

Chrysler could invent the flux capacitor and nuclear fusion and it still wouldn't beat Toyota and Honda.

EndlessOcean: But on the other hand, let's release a large luxury SUV 10 years late to the SUV party.

rented one of those a short time ago when my minivan was in the shop. what a POS. cheaply built, rode like a whale, felt cheap and plasticy. none for me thanks!

cardex: i think that the big three are starting to figure out that Americans want smaller fuel friendly cars, and all it took was six years of not selling anything and driving three of the biggest corporations in the world to the brink of bankruptcy.

I would buy an American car if they made something that was not huge, gets good mileage, does not like a turd with wheels. The only cars that fit all of those that have come out lately are the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice

YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH WITH THOSE FILTY LIES!

We want SUVs, we want Mercury something we can call Lead Sleds! THE TREES CAN SUCK IT! It's big? It's slow? It gets .0002 MPG? The turrists call it a box with wheels? It's the car for America!!!

My good 'ol dad bought a 300c and drove it for 3 months before trading in on a Lexus 450. The external looks of the 300 was all it had going for it- it waslike drving a 89 Town Car.

I may be strange but I bought one of these, which has been great:

Are you being a smartass and saying it is an illusion (more likely than not for a Farker), or are you saying it's a concept called the Illusion (likely for Ford).

Well, thanks to this thread, I now have the Robocop theme repeating in my head. Paul Verhoeven had a coupla good flics there in the late 80's and early 90's... Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers... they were all quite enjoyable examples of ultra violence.

All the Chryslers drive like shiat. It's awful. I've rented a ton of them, and a 300C has a worse ride than a low end toyota thousands cheaper.

The Charger? What a huge disappointment.

Ummm... You mean the GXP? :) And Subaru has been putting out sub-6 turbo fours since 2001, except they have AWD for about the same price.

Isn't that the truth. We bought our dodge 3500 dually for 19,000 (2001). A comparable new one would be over twice that, just ridiculous.

I remember reading that the original Chrysler Imprerial is one of those cars that got banned from demolition derbies. Seems the rear part of the frame was two solid steel I-beams. They could do amazing damage in the derby, so long as no one gutted out the radiator.

vantahn: I remember reading that the original Chrysler Imprerial is one of those cars that got banned from demolition derbies.

Banned to this very day. They are, for all intents and purposes, indestructible. A friend of mine who is an old Mopar junkie found another model that's called something different, but retains the Imperial frame, etc...likewise indestructible, but allowed in demos. He won all the time. Wish like hell I could remember the name of the model. Now, if you go to what's called an "outlaw" demo derby, you can drive an Imperial if you like. But you can also pour the frame full of concrete and weld iron bars around the car if you want. That's why it's an "outlaw" derby. Fun times when you live 100 miles from the nearest anything.

As for this new one, it's pretty obvious that they're trying to make it look like a Bentley or a Rolls. And it's Chrysler we're talking about, so that alone is terrifying.

So, what product available at my local Southern California Ford Dealer contains this lovely engine?

What, none?

Then STFU about it until it's actually available.

No, that was the red carpet special before the SUV party. There were SUVs 30 years ago, sure, but it wasn't being treated as the new American station wagon until the nineties.

If American companies could make small cars for a profit they would. The reason they have the SUV's is profit margin. It costs so much in labor with benifits that they can't afford to make small cars. American's won't pay the price. Ford has many fuel efficiant cars that are sold over seas, but they have said they could not sell them here because American's wouldn't pay the price.

I can't find the interview with the guy from Ford but here is one of the cars and the fact that a US maker can do well with fuel efficant cars.

That thing is rolling ugly.

Just like the 300s. Astounds me that some people think those things look good. Oddly, the 300s can look OK in photos, but in person, they're just goofy.
