Little farking ingrates....

ABC pays for a nice house, gives them cars, groceries, computers, and stereos, and then they sue ABC when the parents kick them out.

Farking class acts. I'm pretty sure the kids' parents died from the knowledge that they had crapped out such worthless turds.

My place could use a makeover. Maybe they'd like to stay with me for a while...

I read "Take in five orphaned siblings" and assumed that this was going to be a story about how Party of Five was actually a true story, and someone was suing for the story rights.

You don't think the kids are worse for suing ABC, the ones who gave them all that cool shiat to begin with?

I used to watch that show and think "there's no way in hell they built an entire house in 1 week".

Then I saw video of the competition in San Diego where a team of 150 people built a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house fully ready to move into with landscaping in 4 hours 15 minutes.

The more you know........

I highly doubt there is a contract that specifies that a 21 year old orphan that was taken in by good hearted church goers, is entitled a permanent residence by ABC.

2007-07-17 07:29:44 PM
FTFA - "About the time the show aired in early 2005, the relationship between the siblings and the Leomitis soured and the siblings moved out. Their lawsuit claims the Leomitis engaged in "an orchestrated campaign" to drive them away by insulting them and treating them poorly."

And the kids decide to sue ABC why?

What makes no sense about this is why was the extreme makeover, or whatever, done on the house of the couple that took them in.

The oldest kid was 21, so why wouldn't they have just built a new house and put it in the name of the oldest son (or in a trust for all of them, with the older one the guardian).

This whole thing doesn't really add up.

2007-07-17 07:32:59 PM
And the world owes these brats...what? They left with a lot more stuff than they showed up with and now they demand that someone buy them their own freaking house.

Welcome to America.

The family of that American chick that got run over in Israel by the bulldozer is suing Caterpiller.

They'll probably win.

I also find it weird that the only blameless party in all this is the big corporation.

I'll bet Arnold and Willis wouldn't have sued.

Because the show is call "Extreme Makeover", not "Extreme Build a New House".

And the kids decide to sue ABC why?

ABC made money off their plight in the show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," and made it look as though the Leomitis and the siblings lived happily ever after. So the show portrayed EM:HE building a house for the EVERYONE when it essentially did not.

That's the view from 10,000 feet (i.e. I asked a lawyer friend when this story came out last year). A real lawyer can explain better.

But the real story is..

HOW DO YOU TRUST SOMEONE NAMED LOKI IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Actually, last time it was kids homeless from Katrina. This time, it looks like it's orphans from a separate set of fan-shiattery.

Hey ABC, next time screen for asshats.

ABC doesn't own the rights to make any Party of 5 spin-offs.

2007-07-17 07:39:23 PM
I've got the answer to their problem: "Burn the mother down"

2007-07-17 07:39:47 PM
I could see a reason why they sued ABC:

If ABC wanted to exploit me and my four orphaned siblings and offered us a house in exchange(we get house/they get ratings), and we accepted, that's a contract isn't it?

So they got exploited for ratings, the couple got a new house, the homebuilder got the good publicity- everyone made out except the orphans(the small gifts relatively speaking weren't jacksh*t compared to what everyone else got).

I'm not saying that will hold up legally, just that I can see why they think they have a case.

2007-07-17 07:40:01 PM
I never understood why they made provisions for the older brothers who could very well have moved out into their own apartments. Major ashattery for asking for their names to be put on the title though.
They got the makeover for helping those kids out. The kids didn't *get* anything. They were rewarding the Leomedi's family for their generosity.

I actually worked on a "Extreme Makeover" in Vacaville. Hugely rewarding experience. I loved every minute of it.

2007-07-17 07:40:12 PM
Why doesn't the 21 year old get a frickin job and support his family?

2007-07-17 07:40:13 PM
To clarify (or maybe correct) what I said, I believe it goes like this:

Orphans: "You can use our sob story on your television show, where you give houses to sad people."
ABC: "Done"
:::construction noises:::
Asshat family: "You're out of here."

And the orphans got nothing out of the deal. Nothing was guaranteed to them. Was the contract fair or not? That's what they were going to court over.

my first apartment was built in 10..15 minutes tops, place was a rathole, the walls didn't join up, not just misaligned with each other but with the roof. I could actually see daylight leaking in at the seam where the wall met roof. The bathtubs overfill drain wasn't hooked up, any water that went in the overfill just leaked out around the bottom of the tub.

/I always think about that place when I watch shows where they build something on the quick.

We saw the video in a project management class I had to take. It took place in the late 70's in San Diego if I recall. There were 2 teams competing side by side. A little googling shows that the record has been beat multiple times:

3 hours, 26 minutes and 34 seconds!
