Can't they charge this azzhole with contempt of court? This guy is wasting the courts time and money. Hopefully the next judge throws his azz in jail and makes him pay the cleaners court costs.
Farkin douchnozzle.

netizencain: Zarkin Frood: whoa, that sounds like a really expensive pants suit.

First thing that popped into my head too!

You heard about the dry cleaners right? Stuck with a huge lawyer bill after defending themselves from this nutjob. They are asking for financial support!

Last time I checked it was part of the verdict that the asshat was require to pay their legal fees.

Dr. Mojo PhD: 200 bucks for the pants and 400 in punitive is all this should have been.

Actually, no. The cleaners found his pants, so that should have been the end of it. Lawsuit over.

This is the first compelling argument I've heard for keeping Gitmo open.

Any law talking Farkers know if this can fall under a loose defition of contempt of court?

He is required to pay their court costs (cost of filing papers, etc.). The presiding judge has yet to rule on whether this moron is required to pay their legal fees.

FTFA - "Pearson's suit, which originally sought $67 million, was based on a strict interpretation of the city's consumer protection law. It also included damages for inconvenience, mental anguish and attorney's fees for representing himself."

"Mental anguish?" Wasn't there an earlier article onthis guy that claimed he was a little off to begin with? At what point does he lose his license to practie law?

ten bucks says he rides this issue until he finds some state or federal ruling authority involved in this case that can actually be sued for $54 million successfully...and then he'll go after them for the mental anguish of being told to DIAF repeatedly.

he is going to get his money one way or another.

Leishu: Last time I checked it was part of the verdict that the asshat was require to pay their legal fees.

IANAL, but I've been reading clarifications that he was ordered to pay court costs, not the legal costs owed by the dry cleaners. So they still owe money.

Besides that, what's the likelihood that this moran has the money to pay their lawyers if ordered, or even more likely if he does, has hidden it well enough that he won't have to pay.

I still would like to know what he honestly expected from all this. I mean, even if you total all the assets of these people they couldn't come close to millions of dollars. I bet you'd be lucky to get a couple million if you sold the dry cleaners kidneys along with their business and personal assets. What the hell is with the $54mil?

Does this arse berry realize it would'a cost him less money and less time to just go buy another farking pair of farking pants?!?!

The farking fact that this even went in front of judge is proof that the justice system has ultimately failed. From the top, to the bottom.

Has the dry cleaning place considered countersuing for defamation of character, lost time, lost business due to bad publicity, etc.? Or would that fall under the "Two wrongs don't make a right" category?

from what I've seen the judge has not yet ruled on the request to make Pearson pay the defendants' attorney fees.

IIRC, wasn't there an earlier ruling by this same judge requiring this asshat to pay the cleaner's attorney fees? This is so absurd, I'm sure the judge would go for it. If there was ever a lawsuit designed to harrass, this is it.

Further, this guy is likely a member of some state's bar (not 100% sure but I think some admin judges dont need a law license). At any rate, most state bars have penalties for 'embarassing conduct'. Essentially acting like an asshat and embarrasing the profession (feel free to snark).

Some searching on various state bar websites would turn up where he is licensed. And then a letter (not email) to that bar's disciplinary committee would probably make life tough on this guy.

Just sayin.

Maybe if they lost and mangled his pants while he was still wearing them...leaving him legless...then maybe he could have a lot of money...otherwise this low class low life needs to die with quickness.

Of course, revealing his contact info, and the ensuing torrent of hate mail, death threats, and general racist flamebait he would have the privilege of receiving would be just as sweet, no?

Vigilantism is still sometimes good for something. And it saves paperwork, and thus trees, time, and money.

Why can't they declare this a frivolous lawsuit?

It would be a lot less frivolous for the dry-cleaners to sue the judge for all the legal expenses of defending themselves, business lost, defamation of character, whatever. Sue his pants off! That will teach him!

Besides... we all know they don't actually wear pants under their robes...

The Precious: When lawyers blatantly attempt to abuse the law, can't they automatically get disbarred or something? This guy is a serious asshole. If the dry cleaners lost his pants, the most he should sue for is just the cost of replacement pants and that's it.

Procedural Judges aren't REQUIRED to be members of any BAR!!! Doesn't that just blow your mind?

mekkab: Procedural Judges aren't REQUIRED to be members of any BAR!!! Doesn't that just blow your mind?

I think it depends on which department of the fed govt one works in, my pops is a fed admin judge in a different agency and one of the reqs for his job (I checked bc it is cush) is to be active & licensed at hire.

But I do remember him telling me that not all admin judge positions require an active license. Although he was quick to add it's hard to get selected for such a position as a non-lawyer competing agst lawyers.
