Louisiana Sen. David Vitter...said he's been to church and marriage counseling and has received forgiveness from God and his wife.

Can someone please explain to me how these jackholes can claim that God has forgiven them? Does Metatron appear before them and say "Oh, you're cool now, go forth and mock some more fags for us"?

These assholes can go and cheat and steal and fark, and that's okay, but if you love someone of the same gender, then you're going against God's will, and are therefor banished to Hell?

fark you and your God. You're the ones perverting his message.

And yeah, it's zydeco song.

In Catholicism, its part of the religion. You go and confess your sins to a priest and if you're truly sorry and do your penance, God will forgive you.

Yeah, but is he Catholic? And even so, there's a penance to do. I doubt he's actually done anything but create an interesting twist on the rehab band-aid so many politicans/etc are known for.

I heard this while cooking dinner last night and I had a feeling who it was. Then I heard his wife and knew for sure, how can someone say they forgive their spouse for cheating?

Then he spouted more BS about helping with development in the area. Talk about a pandering ass.

Am I reading this right?

He's saying he's gone to counselling and God has forgiven him for the hookers he didn't sleep with?

It doesn't matter. I was just explaining how Catholics do it. I'm sure there is a similar policy in place for other religions.

Anyways you're just speculating now and looking for reasons to shiat on him.

Have fun!

Someone called in to Sean Hannity's program the other day and was like "What David Vitter did was allright because he was forgiven by god. What Bill Clinton did was not allright though."

I've heard some stupid stuff on Hannity's show, in fact, most of the time it's stupid, but this was top notch stupidity and hypocrisy of the first degree.

He talks to this imaginary friend?

And what of his wife? Wasn't she quoted as saying that she would cut off his PENIS if he ever did something like what Clinton did?

Another thing they could've done when they found the guy raping the boy was jump on top of the rapist, yell "SURPRISE BUTTSECKS!" and start ramming him like there was no tomorrow. I'll bet he'd never try anything like that again.

People react to things different ways. Who knows? Maybe she has forgiven him? Maybe she is a social climber and wants to stay with him for money/political reason? Maybe she is taking the hit for her kids?

He isn't sorry for doing it, he is sorry for getting caught. And now he is playing the victim. That's the part that disgusts me. Don't play the part of the chastising moral leader and then cry victim when you are exposed as a hypocrite. It is a piss poor way to engender sympathy and forgiveness.

A-freakin'men

Here's how it works 3horn... God will always forgive ME, but he rarely forgives the other guy who is doing something I don't like - and I'm free to heap as much hate and torment on him as I see fit. It's right there in the bible. I admit that I completely ignore most of the parts about loving my neighbor and my enemies and forgiveness and turning the other cheek and charity but I'm an extremely unlearned person and I'm entitled to my unearned opinion. You see, Jesus was white as a grain of rice and he wants me and my race to prosper at the expense of all others. That whole eye of a needle thing is just a ruse to trick heathens. And the immigration thing? Please. I'm a christian when it comes to other people having abortions but I'm a nationalist when it comes to being charitable to the poor. See now? It's easy!

Seeing another women or being in a place where something can happen can be considered a sin in the churh, but not all churches.

I believe Baptists think this way. You don't go to a bar because you "could" drink, you can't even go to be a designated driver.

Surely you can't be that stupid. I'm not looking for a reason to "shiat all over him," that's being well handled by the rest of the media. I was responding 1) as somebody who grew up Catholic and knows it's still not that easy and 2) to the comment somebody made days ago speculating that he would go into rehab. I personally don't care how many hookers he banged. But after famed people are found being human, the amount of back pedaling and image twisting gets extreme.

But sometimes you can't just idly comment about non-news without ridiculous overreaction.

As someone has previously mentioned, this is an article of faith. Catholics (and other religions alike) have an outlined procedure for acquiring the forgiveness of God, according to Scriptural edicts. Once completed, forgiveness is automatic.

These assholes can go and cheat and steal and fark, and that's okay, but if you love someone of the same gender, then you're going against God's will, and are therefor banished to Hell?

Yes and no. Anyone (not just these guys) can engage in "sin" and receive forgiveness for it, as long as they confess, repent and do penance. These require fairly specific actions. Repent is the big one, so if this guy keeps seeing hookers he has not repented (or turned away from his sin).

There are some sects of Christianity that claim that homosexuals are of a "reprobate mind" and are no longer able to repent and receive GOd's forgiveness. Most Christian religions don't buy that at all and believe that homosexuals are just as entitled to forgivenss as anyone else (as all sins are equal), provided they confess, repent and do penance.

Fark you and your God. You're the ones perverting his message.

Asked whether she could forgive her husband after an extramarital affair, as Livingston's wife had done, Wendy Vitter told the Times-Picayune: "I'm a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary [Clinton]. If he does something like that, I'm walking away with one thing, and it's not alimony, trust me."

Vitter was a Rhodes Scholar, like Bill Clinton. Apparently they teach you how to cheat on your wife.

I think in order to be granted forgiveness (at least Catholics) you have to be sorry in the first place. This guy wasn't sorry until he was caught.

Of course, I could give him benefit and say that he realized the error of his ways. Only he knows for sure.

The Irony being that he represents Louisiana for fark's sake, and if he hadn't been such a self-righteous ass about the whole thing the reaction of the average constituent would have been : "what's that cher? You went and had yourself a fais-de-do with a bit of professional strange? Well, as long as she's still breathin' and whatnot, tain't none of MY business if you let your bon-ton Roulez"

As it is though, this is some pretty direct Karma smacking Ms. "Lorena" Vitter in the face for her "Hillary must be so weak, I centainly wouldn't let my husband do that and stand by him" comments

I think you're wrong. I think he wasn't sorry publicly until he got caught. From my understanding, this all happened a while ago. I would assume that hes confessed and moved on since then.

Isn't it kind of hilarious that Vitter's wife would say in the first place, that she would cut off his penis if she ever found out he was cheating? Does that sound like a Catholic thing to say?

Surely she should have said "I will make him a penis sized crown of thorns, and he shall wear it thusly upon his sinning penis for all to see."

And no, it will not rise after 3 days, or however long it took the jesus guy...

I believe Baptists think this way. You don't go to a bar because you "could" drink, you can't even go to be a designated driver.

Roman Catholics used to call this "the Near occasion of Sin" wasn't a sin in and off itself but wasn't totally okay neither (because it might be a sin to contantly lead yourself in the temptations of those "near occasions") It was kinda the spiritual equivalent of being let off by the cop with a warning. (course as you may recall Catholics also once has a whole Felony/misdemeanor tier system for sins too, that's also pretty much gone now)

I think you're right about that FlashLV. But, it's ok to sit home and get shiatfaced if you want to. The Deacon at our church would do that, and be back in church the next day. Bars are a no-no though(or were back then).
