Hooray Beer!

Must be an interesting sight from the train...

I'm disappointed -- before I read the article, I held out hope that they might be mooning Amtrak for being a colossal, inefficient, money-sucking bureaucracy.

2007-07-14 11:41:04 AM
My very Boobies, I think so!

2007-07-14 11:42:05 AM
That's frigging hilarious

2007-07-14 11:42:35 AM
Can someone tell me why they do this?

mdalli: I'm disappointed -- before I read the article, I held out hope that they might be mooning Amtrak for being a colossal, inefficient, money-sucking bureaucracy.

I was thinking the same thing.

But in fact, they are mooning the train just for the fun of it. And the cops don't seem to mind. Something does not compute.

Ah, Orange County. The rich get richer.

2007-07-14 11:50:19 AM
Damn! And here I am mooning random cars on the highway like a sucker.

"I held out hope that they might be mooning Amtrak for being a colossal, inefficient, money-sucking bureaucracy."

Oh, please. The feds just dropped 15 billion on a two mile stretch of highway in Boston...with that kind of funding for Amtrak, we could all have personalized gold-plated locomotives pulling up to our doors.

AMTRAK is in on the act as well, as it says lower on the page that the trains slow down as they pass the mooners.

I don't understand why, but I applaud these fine men and women. Sometimes unexplained randomness is best.

"Overweight" people are asked to moon because of the "extra high intensity mooning" they can provide.

Nicely put.

There's something magic about the train...

The funniest thing is, the train will slow down as it passes the mooners.

Go ahead and call us insane, but we all just love a train

I work right across the street from this at an automotive paint supply shop. It's getting crazy. And everybody is drunk already.

Bwa ha ha ha ha!!1!11 That's awesome!!!

Hmmm...that would make for a pretty nice Fark party at next year's event, eh?

I am born and raised in the greater LA area (includes Orange County), and have never heard of this 'event'.

Apparently I fail at being fun and knowing what to do with my free time.

/this is the most awesome thing ever

Photos of the rear view of Mooners You must be over 18 yrs old to see asses, even though you have one yourself.

This just blows my mind. I mean, random guys mooning the train one night at the bar turns into an annual event with thousands of people and everyone gets in on the action. Law enforcement doesn't mind, Amtrak slows the trains. WTGOMGLOLZ!!1!ELEVENTY!!!

/I think I forgot BBQ in there somewhere

It's been covered in So Cal media since the early 90's when the whole thing went mainstream-it's naughty in a "Doo Dah Parade" kinda way...as I recall the place is a biker/sports bar & the character who thought it up was probably drunk

Remember, if you're not familiar with the area, you have to go south on the 5 to Avery, then come up Camino Capistrano. There's no way to get from Crown Valley to Camino Cap, it's a bridge not an intersection, despite it's appearance on a map.

Hey, don't be bagging on North County. And north county doesn't have Amtrak.

/South County is too stuck up for their own good.

that's kind of amazing. i wish there was one on the east coast, that'd be fun :)

My parents were there at the first one, back in 1979. I was born in Capistrano and we moved from there in '95. I miss SoCal when awesome events like these happen...then I think of the yuppies and shudder.

2007-07-14 03:26:42 PM
Disclaimer: Attending this event may be hazardous due to the large concentration of silly people, cars, motorcycles, motorhomes, concrete vehicle wheel-stops, potholes & cracks in the road & parking-lots and dangerous pets. Everyone present is responsible for their own actions. If you trip on something, or hurt yourself, you alone are responsible. There is no one to sue. No one either promotes this nor charges admission. If you do come, act safely! If you're accident prone, please don't come, go somewhere else where you'll be safer. Neither Mugs Away Saloon, The City of Laguna Niguel nor Amtrak, nor Metrolink are responsible for this event, nor for assuring your safety. The City & the railroad would rather you didn't bother coming to this event. No one is carrying public liability insurance for this. Besides, would any insurance underwriter insure an event called, "Mooning Amtrak"?

Awesome.

2007-07-14 03:45:09 PM
do they do a possible cottage cheese check before allowing ass?

and...

am I the only one that thinks a website promoting the event is a helluva an idea?

Actually, we common and humble people in South County hate the stuck-up snobs just as much as you hate your Mid and North County snobs.

We do our best to make their lives miserable. I hate what has happened to this place.
