Hoshyar Zebari's comments came amid calls by Turkey's military for the government to give it the green light to carry out military operations in northern Iraqi against the rebel Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK.

...and by rebels, they mean everyone. Get ready for the turkey shoot.

Make note of this, in case we need a reason to invade Turkey 20 years from now.

gouda headline!

2007-07-09 10:50:07 AM
All cheesing aside, I actually think this is a good thing (for everyone except the Kurds).
Turkey has the means and the stomach to get control in the region.
This could be the perfect opportunity for the US to leave and let them have the whole mess.
Keep in mind, before we stuck our noses into WWI and upset the balance of powers, the Ottomans did quite well in keeping peace through out the whole of the middle east.

Saddam had the means and strength to maintain control in the region.

We should have left Iraq alone and let him keep the whole mess.
