The Aristo-Sax! (Yakkity)

Goodnight, funny-music man.

/Also, they totally should do that for the funeral. That would kick ass.

Fare thee well Boots and thanks!

Things happen. People add his music and whatever happened is ten times funnier. No matter what. It might be the greatest artistic achievement in human history. One man, one song, everything funnier. Unbelievable.

I don't get many greenlights, but at least this one has some meaning for me.

The Boots records my parents used to play when I was a kid inspired me to take up the sax in the 5th grade. And I still play to this day.

Riff In Peace, Sax man.

I had this wacko drinking-glass boot emblazoned with his image when I was a kid. I never realized he wrote Yakity Sax. I guess I'm now learned. Well done; I hope Chuck Mangione is watching his health.

/No, sweetheart, its "lurned... lurned."

As I noted in the MUSIC section his saxomaphone on
REO's version of 'Little Queenie' is STILL a joy to listen to, twenty five years later.

Go check it out, REO doesnt suck THAT bad and THIS SONG doesnt suck at all.

This. Case in point: "The Passion of Benny Hill"

Exhibit B: 9/11

Okay, maybe I should've stopped with Yakety Sax Jesus.

It's too bad his bit was cut from the Tubular Bells track.

".. double speed guitar; two slightly distorted guitars; yakkity sax; mandolin! Spanish guitar .."

2007-07-04 12:42:21 AM
Coincidence.

Yesterday I commented to a friend how much my Dad enjoyed Boots Randolph's sax.

2007-07-04 12:54:46 AM
Man, this is just too sad. Boots is the reason I took up the sax back in fifth grade. One of the best sax players ever. To this day I still try to play yakety and still fail. RIB Boots.

Would it be overbearing of me to point out that saxophones are woodwinds? It would? Alright then, nevermind.

Eventually, all of our names will be on the list. Just think of all the names you are reminded of when their deaths make news. We will all be with Boots soon enough. See you there.

Although
I had no idea who this guy was.....subby's headline told me exactly who he was.

Good on ya.

Man, total burn. Yakkity Sax is my alarm clock tune. Waking up on Thursday is going to be a little sad.

Then again... I should be waking up on Thursday, so who am I to complain?

Boots Randolph's tenor saxaphone solo on Elvis Presley's "Reconsider Baby" is extraordinary!

His session work was/is impeccable and he will be sorely missed.

My condolences to him and his family.

Thanks a lot, EMPulse_of_KC

I haven't laughed so much in a long time.

Now I'm going to hell.

/At least I'll know people there.....

Yeah, they really ought to send him off that way. That would be right up there with Seymour Simons' inscription on his urn, by his own request, simply, "All Of Me".

2007-07-04 10:46:30 AM
Does anyone have ORIGINAL Benny Hill chase footage? I've been trying to show my nephew what the joke is with that for days. The originals have lots more boobies.

He got started where I live... I had no idea until reading the local story about it:
