Is anyone really shocked that Boras is looking for yet another way to screw the fans? F--- him.

the retirement of Scott Boras would go a long way towards fixing baseball once and for all.

Arguing that the shift would create a marketing bonanza that would rival the Super Bowl

Yes, let's argue that creating MORE games would create the same marketing bonanza as a SINGLE GAME.

Maybe he should look more at the ratings for the NBA and NHL playoffs to see what would happen.

It's already 6 games too long.

Best of 6 with a Home Run derby tie breaker

2007-06-30 07:22:52 PM
best of 3 is good enough for me

2007-06-30 07:23:55 PM
Or, better yet, just one 81-inning game!

2007-06-30 07:27:24 PM
bore, ass.

Should turn MLB into a single 30 team league, each team plays the others with two 3 games series one each home/away = 174 games regular season, but no post season - top team at the end is the winner.

2007-06-30 07:36:03 PM
I hate when good ideas come from stupid people.

You people who think a 9 game series is bad don't know baseball.

xria: Should turn MLB into a single 30 team league, each team plays the others with two 3 games series one each home/away = 174 games regular season, but no post season - top team at the end is the winner.

What happens if one team opens up an insurmountable lead on the rest of the league?

Or the top two teams are done playing each other in May?

a. this is a few weeks old
b. this is a good idea and has been somewhat supported by baseball analysts
c. he's still a douchebag

What will be the beginning of fixing baseball is to shoot boras, tie his worthless carcus to the rear bumper of a '63 ford pickup with bad shocks, and run it nationwide.

2007-06-30 07:43:09 PM
how about we implement a salary cap which would destroy Boras's asinine contracts and send the Yankees the rest of the way to the basement where they belong all in one fell swoop

I read some statistical analysis that says a best of nine series is the best way to determine the better team.

If the weaker team gets hot in the first few games of a 7 game series (it's even worse in a 5 game), then it basically has it made. A weaker team can do this if they have one or two great starters but several bad ones.

But in a nine game series, the better team's overall quality will show up. So you don't get crappy teams winning as many championships (cough, '06 Cardinals, cough)

You want to make the World Series more exciting? Just make steroids mandatory during the World Series. Just imagine it: seven days of 'roid rage.

If you decide to bring little Jimmy to the games with his baseball glove, make sure that he understands terms like manslaughter, assault and battery and premeditated murder.

2007-06-30 07:53:42 PM
The World Series used to be a best of 9 series.
And Boras is only hated because he's good at his job.

2007-06-30 07:59:12 PM
Umm, no. The only thing worse that watching the Tigers shiat the bed against Suck Louis, would have been watching it for one or two more games.

2007-06-30 08:08:19 PM
Yeah, Boston vs. Chicago in October/November would be perfect baseball weather this year.

2007-06-30 08:17:18 PM
The nine games idea is bullshiat, but I do like the idea of all of the postseason awards coming out at the same time.

2007-06-30 08:47:12 PM
9 games is a bogus idea and will never happen. That is all.

Haha...I'm liking this idea.

Do you have a newsletter I could subscribe to?

I think I'm cool...not

Seriously though...9 games will happen.

See...this is how capitalism works. You want to grabble all the money when you can. If you miss an opportunity to grabble the money...you are not a good American.

Then they win, just like they should.

Horrible idea. Season and playoffs are already too long.

Two games at a neutral site... Do a 2(neutral)-2-2-1 series... maybe.

2007-06-30 09:26:42 PM
I think they should play 1 baseball game, 1 football game, 1 basketball game, 1 hockey, Golf(best ball), Beer Pong and a fishing Tourney. Best of Seven Baby!

2007-07-01 01:16:58 AM
9 games?? yeah great idea.
Nevermind that whole tradition thing.

2007-07-01 02:50:19 AM
Nevermind that whole tradition thing.

Um, the World Series was a best of nine in 1903, 1919 (famous for other reasons), 1920, and 1921.

By increasing the number of games played, you also increase the probability that the best team will win, which is a good thing. And it's more baseball, which is also a good thing. Hating everything for the sake of hating everything really gets tired

Um yeah the "best team" is the one that wins.
The amount of games they play is null and void.

Iam not hating just to hate,it's more of a not broken no need to fix thing.

Linguo Dead

The Series has not been nine games in the modern era of baseball. If Scott Boras resurrects the Leatherstockings and Boston Bees, he can have his nine game series.

Otherwise, he's an attention whore douchebag.

2007-07-01 01:28:41 PM
Why is Boras a douchebag? Because he gets the most money for his clients? Because he knows how to manipulate the marketplace and rape stupid teams for money?

Who would you have as an agent if you were a baseball player? I'm guessing it would be Scott Boras.

If people hate Boras, it's usually because their team overspent on one of his clients. Which is exactly what he's supposed to do as an agent.

He has an idea to change baseball. People don't like it. Doesn't make him an "attention whore douchebag."

2007-07-01 01:34:20 PM
And yes. I realize I am defending Scott Boras. I am a terrible person. I made peace with it years ago. So should you.

I'm late with this one but that's probably the funniest thing I've read this week.

I concur!

Oh wait...I already concurred...

Sorry, move along.

I don't want to see a World Series game played at Wrigley Field if the Cubs are not involved. It would make me throw up in my mouth a little.

/die-hard Cubs fan
//a more realistic and fair adjustment would be to move the Houston Astros to the AL West so that each division would have 5 teams. ///Never seemed right to me that the NL Central has 6 and the AL West has 4.

doschi: //a more realistic and fair adjustment would be to move the Houston Astros to the AL West so that each division would have 5 teams. ///Never seemed right to me that the NL Central has 6 and the AL West has 4.

again, then you have 15 teams per league, meaning someone has to always have days off and/or be playing interleague. it just makes scheduling even more of a nightmare.

/only way to have easier scheduling and divisions is to make it 32 teams, pretty much NFL's setup

2007-07-02 05:35:36 AM
oh, and Milwaukee should be the ones to come to the AL, since they were initially from the AL to begin with, dammit.

/being Seattle is a biatch for travel

2007-07-03 03:38:46 PM
Build a huge 4-field mega-plex and move the playoffs to Las Vegas. No travel for the teams involved. For the fans, it is a popular destination nationwide. The weather is okay for baseball in October. MLB avoids having to refuse LV for a team again. WS=best of 9.
