His dad, Gerry, has a candid answer: ``Truth be told, I'm largely using my own sexual barometer - my own 'teen libido memory' - in making this decision.''

Attention, we have a bright one here...

Don't blame the kids, they are only trying to get away with it...It's the stupid ass parents that let shiat like this go on, and then want to blame the media when their kids are found having sex and popping out children by the tons.

I heard a lesbian say that when she was a kid her mom would always let her stay at her girlfriends houses, no problem.

Nobody's going to do anything worse than heavy petting at a coed sleepover.

Teens get a release and parents don't get grandkids.
Everyone wins.

I wish there had been more of THAT going on six years ago when I was 16.
One thing: Anyone noticed that it's okey to have sex when your 16, but not to watch pr0n? I just find it somewhat weird. Also, at 16 you can have a car, but not watch pr0n. GAH!

See you can kill someones life with a 2000lb death machine at 16, but no Boobies to rot your mind until you are legal!

When I was little, I was allowed to have my guy best friend at slumber parties, but thats because our parents knew we would never touch each other (cooties)
2002-09-04 10:13:15 AM
As long as they don't host the sleep overs at Camp Crystal Lake.

2002-09-04 10:13:18 AM
We used to have these all the time back in the mid 70's, when I was in High School. Only, our parents did't know about them. I'll bet they were a lot more fun, parents always take the fun out of things.

When we start having nude co-ed sleep overs we'll really be in trouble.
2002-09-04 10:14:37 AM
What kind of peer pressure could come from a coed sleepover? "Jennie, you better get laid right now. (*ungh!* *ungh!*) All your friends are doing it! (*ungh!* *ungh*) I'm doing it, you're the only one not doing it. (*ungh!* *ungh!*)"
2002-09-04 10:16:02 AM
"...teen health experts warn that coed sleepovers make sexual exploration too tempting."

No sh!t.

I've had girls spend the night at my house plenty of times since I was at least 14. My parents always went to bed early, so they would just be hanging out late. Really late. Like, until the morning late. I never thought it was a big deal, and if they found out, neither did they.
They never even gave me 'the talk.'
2002-09-04 10:16:24 AM
This one time, at band camp...
2002-09-04 10:16:37 AM
If those teenage girls aren't allowed boys to sleep over so they can't mess around, they'll just have to improvise...

What's the problem?

ZZ Top
Afterburner (1985)
Sleeping Bag

When it's cold outside and you want to sleep in
go for a pallet that's so nice and thin.
Zip it on around while it's on the ground,
spread it out and lay it on down.
Slip inside my sleeping bag,
slip inside my sleeping bag.

You're afraid of the dark, baby, no need to be shy.
We'll talk about some lovin' while we look at the sky.
Don't be hesitating, it'll be alright,
we'll tuck it in until it's clean out of sight.
Slip inside my sleeping bag,
slip inside my sleeping bag.

Let's go out to Egypt 'cause it's in the plan,
sleep beside the pharoahs in the shifting sand.
We'll look at some pyramids and check out some heads.
Oh, we'll whip out our mattress 'cause there ain't no beds.
Slip inside my sleeping bag,
slip inside my sleeping bag.

sorry ...16 year olds need to do it in the backseat of a car like the rest of us did .....
2002-09-04 10:19:07 AM
HAHAHAHAAHA! No F'ing way!

I've got a 12 year old girl and I can tell you right now that's what my answer will be if she ever asks to 1) have one or 2) go to one.

Well, they're going to smoke crack one way or another. At least if I let them do it at home, I know they're being safe.

This is reason 54 in the argument for mandatory, IQ-based sterilization of 8 yr. olds.

``Kids that age are experiencing raging hormones,'' Cinda Donovan says. ``Are we supposed to trust them?''

I think you answered your own question tard.

Also, I'm increasingly being made aware of the fact that I was born one generation too early.
2002-09-04 10:20:54 AM
I went to one many moons ago a former fling invited me to. Nothign eventful happened. We all played Sega Genesis and socialized.

I wish I was a teenager now...

Coed sleepovers (orgies) oral sex not being sex...

Why'd I have to grow up in the 80s?
2002-09-04 10:21:31 AM
This ties in to the rise in oral sex by teenagers...There was an article about this somewhere...

Damn, I need some caffeine this AM
2002-09-04 10:21:38 AM
But I was just like, 'Whatever,''' she says
and then christie was like "girlfriend, OHMIGOD i said to brad like "yo" and he was like totally cool with it but then mike was like you biatch and i was like ohmigod whatever.
2002-09-04 10:22:01 AM
Dammit, this isn't cool - but only because I'm not a teenager any more!

2002-09-04 10:22:07 AM
This totally takes the fun out of sleepovers. I liked the rush I got from having the boys sneak in after my parents had gone to bed. The fear of getting caught was a turn-on.
2002-09-04 10:22:11 AM
What a rip! Born too late for the 60s, just in time for the AIDS scare and Political Correctness, and too late for raves, ecstacy, internet porn, middle school blowjobs, and coed sleepovers! Recount!
2002-09-04 10:22:43 AM
David Harrington hasn't given up on the idea of attending a coed sleepover. But he chuckles at the thought of throwing his own - an idea he's already posed to his parents.

"As you can imagine," he says, "I was quickly vetoed."

"But", he added, "I know where they keep their gun."

``Kids that age are experiencing raging hormones,'' Cinda Donovan says. ``Are we supposed to trust them?''

Dr. Marla Kushner, director of adolescent medicine at Chicago's Weiss Hospital, says ``no.''

Dr. Marla Kushner, director of adolescent medicine at Chicago's Weiss Hospital has obviously never heard of rhetorical questions
2002-09-04 10:22:59 AM
Its great to read something telling parents to not trust their kids, just because an "expert" says so. Thats a great way to build well adjusted family relationships.
2002-09-04 10:23:38 AM
It's premarital sex in some shoddy motel, or premarital sex in front of their friends. The kids may repeatedly fail classes, but they're smart about keeping things under wraps
2002-09-04 10:23:43 AM
I went to co-ed sleepovers. Not much ever happened.
2002-09-04 10:24:07 AM
Whatever happened to hating your parents because they wouldn't let you do things? Now everyone wants to be friends with their kids. I don't want to be friends with mine. If they don't hate me 'til they're 21 then I'm not doing my job.
2002-09-04 10:25:40 AM
Ashaman agreed - but then I can't find it on snopes... sure it used to be on there. Oh well, I'll just let you all keep wallowing in the murky daydreams of naked girls inviting you around for a sleepover...

2002-09-04 10:26:53 AM
This sounds to me like locking an alcoholic in a liquor store overnight and telling them "We know you won't drink anything...we trust you."

That being said, I'm feeling a little cheated...this kinda shiat didn't happen in the late 80s when I was a teenager.
2002-09-04 10:27:42 AM
Man, I could really use one of those Quantum Leap machines right now and jump back into my high school body and take care of some bizness.

In other news, teen pregancies are staying steady or going up... reminds me of this fun time I had at my girlfriends house with her sister as my old lady slept next us...yeah, Im a bad person, I know.
2002-09-04 10:27:53 AM
If the parents of the child hosting are home, I'm sorry I don't see the problem.

Guess what parents? If your kids are going to screw, they will find a way.
2002-09-04 10:28:22 AM
Bleh. It's all about trust.

I could do pretty much anything I wanted as a teenager as long as my mom knew where I was and when I was coming home. Co-ed sleepover? Sure. So long as she met the parents beforehand, and those parents were actually there at the house--or as long as she was the parent in question.

(Not that I ever got invited to anything of this nature. Either it wasn't common in the early 90's, or I was too much of a geek. But it didn't happen amongst my geek friends.)

I expect to do the same with my children. Want to drink underage? Sure, so long as you do it at home, and I'm here. I'd rather have them drinking, or for that matter fooling around, if I know where they are and that they're otherwise safe. Better that than have them carousing on the streets.
