My bank has what amounts to airlocks to get into and out of the it. You have to go through 2 doors and only one can be open at a time. You're basically trapped in a lexan box for a second (probably a lot longer if you're a robber) when you leave.

The gas station i work at has lokcing doors troo

Have you seen those banks (In Great Britain, I think) where those big steel doors come up out of the teller counter when the teller hits a button? Now that's a great idea...not just for banks but everywhere..convenience stores, whatever...

I predict that after three consecutive months of customers driving up to the window and saying, "I'd like to deposit my paycheck, and could you please supersize it?", they'll reopen their doors and take their chances with the robbers.

Our bank on campus only does drive through service, but I think that's only because the commuter students keep taking all the customer parking spaces.

What the hell happened to the Dr. Jeffries post?

When banks outlaw walk-in service, only outlaws will have cars.

Or something like that.

"Have you seen those banks (In Great Britain, I think) where those big steel doors come up out of the teller counter when the teller hits a button?"

Yeah, I think I saw that on RealTV once. Not only that, the bank robber got really afraid to run out, but couldn't get the door open (he was pushing the door, instead of pulling it). He was shoving it for about a half a minute until an old lady tried to enter the bank. He got away, but was later captured.

What ever happened to armed security?

Errrr...I meant to say "got really afraid and ran tried to run outside"

Troutstomper: I've seen those barriers on some sort of "World's Wackiest Police Videos" show. I think that totally rocks - but in the US you know there are gonna be a bunch of handless crooks winning multi-million dollar lawsuits against the banks, because they were injured during a robbery...

"Ok its gonna take a minute for us to get 'all the money' into a bag for you. If you'll pull around front ill bring it out to you."

I don't understand why this should be labeled as "strange". As some of the posts above state, It is not such a "strange" idea to keep employees safe from people who are "strange".

Rats, I used up my """ allowance.

Doh! I meant to say....arghhh...f*** it. I've gotten about 12 hours of sleep in the last 5 days.
2002-09-03 11:12:57 PM
I saw that!! It was awesome...The guy was shoving on the door and finally busted it after about 5 minutes of farking with it...All he had to do was pull on it but he was too farking scared to do it!! They showed another one which I believe you were referring to..the same thing happened..guy just kept pushing on the door! It must be part of the "fight-or-flight" instinct that makes people only want to push things instead of thinking!

Merltech: So sorry, but most sane people aren't willing to take a bullet just to protect someone else's money. Not for what these guys make anyway.

You just need to have them close to the tellars where the robber can't reach. But every teller would have to be aware that it was going up or they would be suing.
2002-09-03 11:16:13 PM
tellar...teller, whatever it takes..

My bank has braille on the drive-thru controls. This frightens me because of the potential users....

Do, they not think someone won't try to rob them through the drive-thru window?

$10 says it'll happen to this band, within the next 2 weeks.
2002-09-03 11:28:48 PM
GCD All they need is a cell phone. Like what was described in the Diner scene in Pulp Fiction. All they would have to say is if they don't get the money the girl on the other end gets killed.

I enjoy gliding my fingers over the bumps as I imagine all the other fingers that have caressed them.

Who else thinks this is "not strange"? I I managed a bank, and it had been hit twice recently then damn right I would close the doors, for the employees and the customers. And if I owned the bank, then it would be a decision between closing the branch or doing this.

To which band?

This band?

I merely mention this band because I understand they have an excellent guitar player

The drive through thing reminds me of this football linebacker getting hung up in the drive through at a local Taco Bell.
Apparently they got his order oh, so wrong so he went apeshiat and tried to go through the window at the guy and got stuck.
He finally pulled his fat ass out with part of the molding still wrapped around himself like a new-age tutu and drove off, sans correct order.

Kansas City farkers should remember this one. Laughed so hard i nearly shat myself.

Nope, no contribution to the topic, but it's a good story.

I worked in a bank that got robbed about a minute after I left for lunch. I came back from lunch, and the Crime Scene tape was up and everything. I was not even a suspect....

The bank stayed open. I guess because it was the first bank robbery in the town for many years (probably about 10 banks), they didn't expect a second one any time soon.

Good thing it wasn't a sperm bank. Drive thru deposits. That could get messy.

Good thing it wasn't a sperm bank...

Be sure to roll the window down before making your deposit!

Why would you have been a suspect TexasSkeptic? Hmm. That sounds suspicious.

Around here, a bank will go out of business if it doesn't have a drive thru. Nobody wants to get out of their suburban/expedition/focus and actually walk.

I'm surprised the grocery stores haven't switched to drive thrus, too. The pharmacy's all have them (I can think of four different companies offhand, and they all have several cars in the drive thru any time I see them)

Lazy, lazy.
