That's weird. I think our water tastes like shiat. It's very Irony, and leaves red streaks in your sink.

Well what did you expect? My sink is 2000 miles away, so the water probably ran through some Utah dirt on the way here.

Budweiser comes after you drink the water.

It's all that wholesome fertilizer coming down in the Missouri River from farm country. Nothing like tons of petrochemical runoff and cow poo to make the water sweet and tasty, I always say.

Even better, third eye on stalk can scan e-mail while ya fark.

Back in the day, when I lived in W.C., my crazy mom called to find out where we get our water from. She was all worried during the flood of 1993.

She said something like the County gets it from the Meramec (Meremac?) River and the City gets it from the Big Mo.

I think our water out here tastes better (Seattle). No limey stuff to pass through.

Memphis has some of the best-tasting tap water I've ever had. Haven't had St. Louis's though, so I can't compare.

Beer snobbery aside, I really don't think US Budweiser tastes good at all. I've drank a lot of cheap beer in my time, but Bud leaves some kind of non-beer aftertaste and a slight smell that just won't go away. Coors does the same thing. It's like washing down labia lappings with that two hour warm beer on the nightstand at some house with a party going... there's the beer taste, and then there's that other something just under the surface.

I don't mind beer aftertaste, I just want it to remind me I drank a beer earlier, even it it wasn't a very good beer.

misspudding: She said something like the County gets it from the Meramec (Meremac?) River and the City gets it from the Big Mo.

(Hi Missy!) A little of both. The county gets water from both the Missouri and Meramec Rivers, and the city pulls from both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

platts42: It's very Irony, and leaves red streaks in your sink.

How old is your house? Sounds like old piping.

I still find NYC's tap water to be some of the best-tasting I've had. Usually nice & cold too.

jimbodahobo: You probably only drink Starbuck's too, right? The health & safety standards for bottled water are nearly non-existant compared to tapwater. Throw a carbon filter on the faucet and you'd be surprised what you can get out of a tap, saving yourself some serious $$$ and saving the Earth of excess plastic bottles at the same time.

2007-06-26 02:04:43 AM
I would roll my eyes at the beer snobbery, but, yeah, Budweiser does suck.

2007-06-26 02:05:46 AM
Anyone else think it's ironic that Jimbodahobo refuses to drink anything but bottled water?

The real question is, "who is bleeding in your sink?"

wow, they beat out Anaheim, which also has shiatty water. What the hell are the cities? must not have been any NW ones.

That's funny. We get out water out of the Merrimack River too. We used to get it out of the Spicket...River not faucet.

*A long way from Missouri.*

Hopefully this news will put a dent in the earnings of the bottled water selling companies. Tap water won't hurt you, people. Stop being a schmuck and knock it off with the $1.29 per plastic bottle of the same crap you're getting out of the faucet!!

It's probably just Coincidency.

With water, it's hard to tell the difference.

Subby wins one free Internet.

Q: Why do they call American beer "sex in boat?"
A: Because it's farking close to water.

2007-06-26 02:23:26 AM
I was rather impressed with Bud Select, and I was sober when I drank it.

Also (bottled water snobs), keep in mind that when you purchase bottled water, it comes from the same place as municipal water, and sometimes doesn't even undergo the same treatment and filtration process. Enjoy your plastic aftertaste.

2007-06-26 02:26:32 AM
Yeah, you beer snobs are more annoying than most of the people here in St Louis. God I gotta get back to Texas, this place is like a vortex of suck. When will a good band come through here again? Or come from near here for that matter? Ok, Team Tomato, you guys are good. But I haven't heard anything else worth a damn.

wow, because from what I've heard, Foster's is the shiat beer of Australia, which NO ONE drinks.

From the Honolulu Board of Water Supply:

Q: Does the Board of Water Supply treat water?
A: The natural percolation rain water through the layers of porous lava rock serves as an effective filtering medium for our municipal water supply. The municipal water supply is drawn from artesian and deep wells, and shaft facilities around the island.

The BWS chooses to take certain precautions in guaranteeing the safety of our drinking water. Those precautions include using granular activated carbon (GAC) and chlorine in certain areas of Oahu.

The presence of trace amounts of pesticide in select sources serving the Central Oahu area prompted the Board to construct seven GAC treatment plants. GAC treatment is a mehtod that is being used to remove pesticides from the water supply in the Mililani, Waipahu, Kunia, and Waialua areas.

i always found my st. louis tap water to be quite delicious. maybe it was extra fresh since the MSD water filtration plant on the missouri river was about 2 miles away... i dont know. but as far as water tasting watery and not like shiat... it was tasty.

as for new york... i endured a lot of my dad's "NYC water all comes from the catskill mountains" speech... only when i lived up there... the water came out of the tap and looked like watery-milk. i was told it was 'over-oxygenated'. if you let it sit for a minute or two, it'd clear up. that was good enough for me. you could still drink it when it was cloudy and it tasted fine... it was just a bit... *wait for it* *wait*... unsettling.

/so sorry for that last bit, had to

and then there was the week our New Orleans water tasted like phenol. Way-way pre-Katrina.

When the Mississippi was low the locals would say, "Everyone in St Louis flush your commodes New Orleans needs the water."

And I asked what's on tap

But we got a special on

American style lagers (made with rice in order to bring down the cost of production) have the right to call themselves beer. Vodkas made from the denatured ethyl by-products produced by U.S. grain surplus companies for the chemical industry, also have the right to call themselves vodka.

The problem with tap water is that the quality is very dependent on your local connection and the quality of your own pipes. Lead and arsenic can get into your tap water from your own pipes or from the connectors to the system, even if the water is initially very pure.

2007-06-26 06:58:46 AM
I bet judging all that water was one of the worst jobs ever.

2007-06-26 07:02:07 AM
Let's just face it: the water we drink is basically horribly contaminated unless you use homemade filtration techniques. There are all sorts of arguments around this and conspiracy theories, but all I know is that drinking chlorine is not part of a complete breakfast.

There are always alternatives, but since this is America they would cost too much money (even though people spend hundreds of dollars on bottled water that could go towards a water tax.)
