Hell yeah, we need a third party candidate now more than ever.

And Bloomberg is rich like Perot but not crazy like Perot.

/voting Bloomberg '08

2007-06-19 06:19:15 PM
I get text for this

2007-06-19 06:19:54 PM
oh good. a crazy rich guy runs for president as a third party. it's been done, and crazier, by h. ross perot.

not sure if it could help the d's or hurt them. perot got a bunch of conservatives on budget issues and hurt bush sr. bloomberg is not even close to conservative

2007-06-19 06:25:26 PM
not sure if it could help the d's or hurt them

What about thinking about helping the country?

This two-party stranglehold on our government benefits no one.

2007-06-19 06:25:57 PM
Whoa! That's big.

2007-06-19 06:27:10 PM
I could vote for Mayor Mike, though I typically vote Libertarian.

Confabulat: This two-party stranglehold on our government benefits no one.

Depending on his stance on a bunch of issues I would possibly vote for him, but I doubt he would be able to accomplish much- the 2 parties would make sure he was completely ineffective.

2007-06-19 06:30:19 PM
I would only vote for the guy if he was running for principal of my kid's school. The guy is seconds away from blinking the lights on the Empire State Building to get everyone to be quiet.

2007-06-19 06:30:51 PM
What about thinking about helping the country?

then don't elect him. he's proven himself to be a nanny who favors more government control over citizens.

2007-06-19 06:30:54 PM
I doubt he would be able to accomplish much

After 8 years of GW Bush, I love the idea of a President that can't do much.

2007-06-19 06:32:31 PM
WTF with NY mayors running for prez? I'm going to wait for them to dig up Lindsay and run him. Suck it, Beame and LaGuardia.

2007-06-19 06:33:31 PM
Bloomberg/Schwarzenegger would be interesting

2007-06-19 06:35:10 PM
then don't elect him. he's proven himself to be a nanny who favors more government control over citizens

Didn't you vote for GW Bush in 2004? Your opinion about political leaders is null and void.

2007-06-19 06:38:06 PM
I like Bloomberg. Not as much as I like Edwards, but about the same as I like Hillary.

Edwards/Obama 08!

Or...

Gore/Obama 08!

2007-06-19 06:38:20 PM
He left the republicans before he ever joined them.

He's a big city mayor fer chrissakes.

2007-06-19 06:38:23 PM
new york city is schitty

2007-06-19 06:38:47 PM
The ship is sinking and all the rats are coming off.

2007-06-19 06:38:49 PM
You know, It doesn't speak well of this party when a candidate says "no thanks" to the Republicans to run on an independent ticket.

2007-06-19 06:38:57 PM
martissimo

VP candidate has to meet all the Const. requirements of the president... so Arnold can't get on the ticket.

I am officially Interested in the 2008 race.

Your opinion about political leaders is null and void.

Censoring others for their opinions doesn't bolster yours in the slightest.

2007-06-19 06:40:12 PM
Now here's an interesting development.

2007-06-19 06:40:16 PM
Grassroots Fark effort for Bloomberg? I'm in!

2007-06-19 06:40:16 PM

2007-06-19 06:40:56 PM
The guy really thinks he's the principal of New York City. I'm not sure if that's enough not to vote for him for prez, however.

2007-06-19 06:41:07 PM

This possible candidacy is useless without a four-color pie chart.

BTW, Ross Perot's political half hour talks were the best political ads you'd ever see.

yaaaaaaaay

2007-06-19 06:41:22 PM
Let me guess: According to Bloomberg, taking scary-looking guns away from some harmless guy in Texas is going to make you and me safer.

2007-06-19 06:41:24 PM
News Flash? Really?

Something that might happen a year from now gets a news flash?

2007-06-19 06:41:41 PM
Bloomberg only ran as a Republican to avoid the crowded Democratic primary, as he was a Democrat for 20 years. He was never a Republican.

Furthermore, he owes his political life, like Guiliani, to 9/11. Mark Green, the Democratic nominee, was kicking his ass prior to 9/11. Then it was GOP-mania sweeping the nation.

2007-06-19 06:42:02 PM
Bloomberg was never a Republican, he was a registered Dem up until he changed to run for mayor. He doesn't want to compete with Mrs. Clinton, so....Independent.

Oh, and Confabulat, you're a horse's arse.

elpepe55: VP candidate has to meet all the Const. requirements of the president... so Arnold can't get on the ticket.

yeah i know, but you know that is who he would run with if he could. it's too bad, because that would be a really interesting ticket, they could maybe even carry California

2007-06-19 06:42:10 PM
albo then don't elect him. he's proven himself to be a nanny who favors more government control over citizens.

QFT.

2007-06-19 06:42:19 PM
For the comparisons to HR Perot
Perot did to the Republicans in 92 as Nader did to the Demcrats 8 years later.
/Lived in Florida in 2000
//voted for Nader
///WTF was I thinking?

2007-06-19 06:42:28 PM
Censoring others for their opinions doesn't bolster yours in the slightest.

Sorry, but history has already recorded the disaster of the Bush presidency. You were wrong about everything, and were fooled into supporting a war that was unnecessary and disasterous.

Those are now facts, whether you are willing to recognize them or not.

If you voted for Bush in 2004, you have been proven to be easily suckered and a poor judge of what makes a good President.

Therefore, your opinion is like that of Paris Hilton--who cares what you think? Grown-ups are trying to talk here.

2007-06-19 06:42:40 PM
If he sticks it out to the end of the campaign the Republicans can pretty much kiss their chances goodbye.

2007-06-19 06:43:06 PM
Craptastic: Whoa! That's big.

Thanks, nice of you to notice. I get that a lot.

2007-06-19 06:43:27 PM
Bloomberg is anti-gun scum and should just go away. I hope he goes broke. Anti-gun, anti-freedom scum. Go away forever. God bless America. The nondenominational God bless America. Kick the AIPAC out of America and watch the terror threat disappear.

Code_Archeologist

He would syphon just as many votes from the Dems as the GOPs, if not moreso. Bloomberg's entry hurts the Dems more.

2007-06-19 06:44:31 PM
So let me get this straight...

2008 could be a race between three... Count 'em... THREE New Yorkers?

2007-06-19 06:44:41 PM
At this point I'd honestly vote for Nixon if he managed to scratch his way out of his grave.

Every election the choices get worse and worse.

2007-06-19 06:44:47 PM
Imagine a choice between 3 New Yorkers for president.

/From NY so no complaints

2007-06-19 06:44:50 PM
I thought I'd vote Turd Sandwich in '08.

2007-06-19 06:45:19 PM
elpepe55: VP candidate has to meet all the Const. requirements of the president... so Arnold can't get on the ticket.

So what happens if the president and VP die and the Speaker of the House is a foreigner?

2007-06-19 06:45:42 PM
I don't think he will run until 2012. While I love the idea of President Bloomberg, I just can't see him leaving before his term is up; he's just way too principled. If a candidate he likes wins in 2008, I think he stays an independent and doesn't run. But if it's someone he isn't a fan of, I can see him joining the Democrats for the next election. He only switched to the Republicans because he knew he wouldn't make it past the NY Primary.

2007-06-19 06:45:51 PM
This is a good thing.... fark the 2 party system. (although, I'm really hoping to see Al Gore jump into the race)

2007-06-19 06:46:33 PM
He's a Republican in name only.
