He also has a son born in 1979. I wonder if this little bit of news is going to hit mass media, or if it has...

Good looking out, smitty!

Nice eye, subby, but those could adopted kids from the wife's prev. relationship.
Or he adopted.
Or bought them.

Considering the guy was born in the Dominican Republic who knows Mesa's exact age. A lot of places list his birthdate at 1966 but I've seen it back to 1960 as well.

Either way the guy started having kids really young since 1960 would only have made him 14.

In other news, Danny Almonte remains 13, Dikembe Mutumbo just got his driver's license.

Wait, a Latin baseball player may have lied about his age?

So wait, Jose Mesa could posssibly be in his 50's?

2007-06-15 11:45:27 AM
Man, I was all excited when I heard they signed him... Then I realized I had him confused with Jose "Can You See (My Wife's Enormous Rack)" Lima.

/probably still drunk from Wednesday's game
//back to work

Subby here, my very FIRST GREENLIGHT! Woo hoo! And about Joe Table, of all things.

And I agree with some of you, he's probably at least a couple years older than 41-ish. But nothing ever surprises me with this guy...

Typo

us.imdb.com lists Yamely's birthday as 84 and Fox sports lists Ralph as the eldest, born in 79 (which would have been when Jose was 12 at conception)

Also Try to keep up

Wikipedia does (pops)

BTW his back-and-forth drama with Omar Vizquel in the "Controversies" section of his Wikipedia entry is hilarious. I had almost forgotten about that...

Nuggie, thanks for raining on my parade. I guess I should have read that obscure post on Baseball Fever two years ago. Since it's mainstream and everything, like Fark.

That being said, I figured it was a typo or something along those lines.

Woody Hayes: Our lead over the Tigers is back up to two games again, whew.

I was at the Tigers game a couple Sundays ago, when we lost 9-2. First home game I've been to in 5 years and they freaking lose...and it was only their 5th or 6th home loss of the season at that time.

/I bring our teams bad luck, but I can't help but watch.

I have always thought Mesa was a psycho for his Vizquel vendetta, but looking into it more clearly, you should never throw a teammate under the bus for losing, and if they were indeed close friends that makes it even worse.

does anyone,anyone understand this signing?

i know the phils need bullpen help, but myers should be back in a week or so, and gordon shouldn't be that much further off.

lately, alfonseca, madson, geary, and zagursky have been getting it done.

they've got rosario and condrey for mopup duty.

in his only game so far, he walked 2 people, a guy sacrificed them over, then he threw 2 wild pitches and both of them scored.

wtf?

That's messed up. Maybe he's lying about his age?

I STILL HATE YOU JOE TABLE 10 YEARS LATER!

/just some Cleveland rage, sorry about that

without Tony Fernandez's error, the Jose Mesa blown save doesn't happen.

2007-06-15 12:48:25 PM
T.rex: without Tony Fernandez's error, the Jose Mesa blown save doesn't happen.

To be fair, without Tony Fernandez's 2 RBI he doesn't even get an opportunity to make the error.

I was anticipating that a thread about Jose Mesa would, for whatever reason, have a completely unrelated picture of Jose Lima's wife. Fark truly does not disappoint. +1 to Andrew Wiggin for coming through.

There is an inappropriate teacher-student relationship story in there somewhere

Any thread with a Tony Perez quote is instantly my favorite thread ever. He was the "glue" that kept the Big Red Machine together. He is also one of the great "gentlemen" of the game. Some of the greatest radio of my youth was listening to the big dog and the old left hander "communicate" on Star of the Game after Reds games.
