What a convoluted pile of crap that show is.

I agree, pleaseleavemebe. The tangled plot lines are bad enough, but they don't even deliver any resolutions to previous plot lines. Now I know how guys feel when they go to the strip clubs.

I really lost a lot of interest after the series began to drag & after I tried talking to some of the fans of the show. They had some pretty bad attitudes even when before I started mini-griping about how frustrating the show had became. You'd think I was trying to bad-mouth the first Godfather movie or something.

Most of this season of Lost sucked, but the finale was awesome.

Speaking of, while I was initially on the fence about the Soprano's ending, after seeing it a couple more times I've decided that I really like it.

I have too and I appreciate more. Still not totally happy with it. I think initially when I watched it I was hyped up for something to happen and when nothing did I lost it.

/Lost is an appropriate title for that show.

"It insists on itself Lois."

Actually pretty apt for Lost.

You mean "WAS". What a convoluted pile of crap that show WAS. Sopranos has ended, so you need to use the past tense.

/I know what he meant.

I really enjoyed the first season of Lost, but when I heard that they were stretching the run from 3 seasons to 6 I gave up hope and stopped watching.

2007-06-14 08:39:55 AM
Lost really started to suck mid 2nd season, and by 3rd season they really really sucked, but the last 1/3 of season 3 was just balls to wall awesome.

If you hate the goddamned show so much, why are you wasting your time posting in Lost-related threads?

Granted, the first 6 -8 episodes of season three were relatively sub par. But they were still better than 99.9% of the other crap on TV.

/Lost is awesome

Never followed Lost, but you know what T.V. series I finally realized the Sopranos ending reminded me of? Twin Peaks. Same freaking concept: end right at the moment of absolute tension and let the viewer decide.

I love it when people who "gave up on the show" come into Lost threads to complain. Season 3 as a whole was incredible - too bad y'all missed it.

I'd add to your friends statement by saying, they're also the people with the epileptic attention spans better served by MTV, 24-hour "news" channels, and normal sitcoms where every problem in the world is solved in 30 mins.

meh, I've always been a big fan of stories (written or otherwise) that drop you into a big pool of WTF and slowly eek out some of the meaning. LOST is right up my alley.

2007-06-14 10:46:35 AM
Arrested Dev and Lost both suffered from what made them great. Like Mozetti said, most Americans are too dumb to hold a thought for more than 30 minutes, let alone over season/series long story arcs.

L.B. Jeffries

Her father.

Hehe. Tweaks was awesome until it's popularity forced them to draw it out, so things dragged and Lynch kept making it weird.

i blame the syndication rules for things like this. Shows cover that 4 season/100 episodes, making them do stupid things. i'd much rather have a syndication of a series that was 2 seasons and tight, than 5 seasons of drrrrrag. i love BSG dearly, but they need to get things moving.

otoH, i do love an epic story. Love sequels and long ass movies. i find short movies leave two many questions. i walk out wondering "what happened next?". Most people don't mind epic if it is all significant. Fluff and filler are a turn off.

Those of you who think "LOST" drags on too much:

Would you like fries with that?

Yes, there were some "boring" stretches. It's called "character development" and "plot". Hey, I know, let's get all the answers in the second episode, and then the show can be over, and then we can watch "Big Brother". Although, if the American version of "BB" was anything like its European counterparts, there would at least be some good sex.

Man, it would suck if I were you. I'd have to get out of bed each morning and punch myself in the face screaming, "I can't believe I'm him!"
And while I'm at it, will point at laugh at you for not getting it.

Arrested Development had no viewers from the get go- and slowly got worse. (I watched when I could/currently watching re-runs on TV)

/still watch Lost

You're too late, the ending was already spoiled for me before I even watched the pilot. Kinda made the show interesting to watch them dance around it though. Some numbnut TF the other day was raving about how no one had ever done that before like 'Sopranos' and I finally remembered this morning that 'Twin Peaks' had the same kind of ending.

David Lynch FTW.

Tony Soprano has a moment of introspection watching the last season of Lost while high on peyote... then says, "I don't get it!"

/Don't watch Lost
//Didn't really watch Sopranos
///Somehow I know way too much about both shows anyway, but not enough to have an actual conversation about either of them

2007-06-14 11:30:48 AM
I actually enjoy Lost, sure it has had its slower bits, but still a good watch.

2007-06-14 12:58:35 PM
I started watching Lost in season 3 after a quick introduction to all the characters and story lines before the season premiere from my brother. I have been totally hooked to the show ever since.

I have since gone back and watched the first two seasons, and while I can understand how they were better at the time, season 3 was still great. People who say it sucked and quit watching AND take the time to tell the whole world about it really need to get off their high horse.

That being said - TFA mentions Nikki and Paulo. I loved the episode when they died. Has little to nothing to do with the main plot, but it was a great filler. I remember saying HOLY SHIATE at the final scene when Nikki's eyes opened with the sand hitting her face. I consider it one of the more memorable episodes from this season actually. Plus, she's hot as hell.

/"Paulo lies"

I thought the AD finale was better than that of the Sopranos.

Season 3 of Lost was awesome. Season 2 of Lost, looking back, sucked.

Watch Not in Portland, Flashes before your Eyes, and the last 6 or 7 episodes of the season (not including expose)... they're all freaking awesome.

Plus, you get Elizabeth Mitchell, Michael Emerson, Nestor Carbonell...

Unlike season 2 where we had annoying Ana-Lucia, really annoying Michael, Eko [Who on-island drove me insane], and Libby who was pointless.

Libby shouldn't have been killed off cause she was a MILF.

The ONLY reason for focussing on the Member's Only dude was to screw with people's minds. If he WASN'T there to kill Tony the WTF was the point of focusing on him THREE times?

It was to mess with your head, and to show you the life that Tony now leads, constantly looking over his shoulder all the time.

The only thing David Chase is guilty of is writing a great show for a nation with a grade 8 comprehension level.

The problem with Lost are its stupid pseudo-intelectual fans.

The day it ends, even if the finale is the worst thing ever, they'll still come here and try to lecture everybody about how the show was always really about characters, people facing their greatest fears, yada yada yada and praise the damn thing.

Exactly like it happens right now: You like the show - You're smart. You don't like it - You're a dumb Nascar fan, don't like to pay attention for more than 2 minutes unless there's explosions going off, etc, etc, etc.

Funny, it's a win-win situation. Lost "lovers" cannot lose. The ending is good, mysteries solved -> Lost is the greatest thing ever.
The ending sucks, nothing is solved -> Lost is the greatest thing ever, it's just that... Us "stupid haters" didn't get it.

Where is that "Aw, not this shiat again..." picture of the guy who looks like he has a headache? I think it's appropriate to put it up right now because the mere mention of Lost creates the same exact damned responses every time.

Ya, cause the Soprano thread was only 5 posts long and everybody complemented everybody else on what they thought what the show was about, then they all skipped to the local store holding hands for ice cream.

Dude, stop kidding yourself, this isn't about the MTV nation and our short attention span. This is about completely useless episodes, which serve no point except to sell advertising time.

The episode with Nicki and Paulo for instance, it did absolutely nothing to further anything (plot/character/etc). It was boring, predictable, and above all irrelevant. If you missed that episode you could pick up the next one without missing a beat - nothing happened (except two red shirts being killed). Season 3, as a whole, blew.

Fortunately the last few episodes, and especially the finale, were increasingly great.

For the record...Lost has answered a whole lot of the questions it has asked. They have flat out said they will not answer to the "Smoke Monster" until the series finale though. The numbers? What needs to be answered about them? They could just be a coincidence, as is much involving the people who crashed on the island.

People with ADD need not watch shows that don't just jump out and give you the answers every episode. Stick to CSI and Law and Order folks. (I like those shows too but only really watch them in repeat form on cable)

OK, look, Lost fans, for the love of God, stop calling people who dislike/never watch Lost idiots without attention spans who would rather watch reality TV. It makes you looks way less intelligent than you imagine.

I have never seen a full episode of Lost. The show simply never appealed to me. From everything I've heard about it, and from the few bits and pieces I've seen of it, it honestly just seems conceptually dumb as hell to me. Would my mind change if I was to watch it? Maybe, but I have no interest in finding out really.

So farking stop with the higher-than-thou bullshiat because you want to feel like an intellectual for watching a TV show with a god damn smoke monster.

you know what's really funny? when people think they're sticking it to the man when they stop watching a tv show. "we never got any resolution on some of the mysteries so i decided to hell with the show! stopped watching last season, i'll show them!"

2007-06-14 04:49:20 PM
See, this is good. Give people a choice. If you need all your plots and mysteries wrapped up in a tight little bow, you can watch Lost. If you want to see a story accept its ambiguities and without an ending, you can watch The Sopranos.
