Next up: a ban on kites. And chewing gum.

2007-06-13 03:25:26 PM
I think the wanna-be gangstas that wear the baggy pants, or the pants hanging below their asses are complete idiots.

BUT (or is that butt?)

It's everyone's right to look as stupid, idiotic, or otherwise ludicrous as they want to. Besides, if we didn't have these asshats walking around looking like shiat thinking they looked "cool," what in the world would we make fun of? Religions? Nationality? Sexual preference?

One final note: as a former cop, I think that gangsters wearing these loose pants down on their thighs is a great idea. Have you ever seen one of these bangers try to run? ROFLMYLIVERHURTSCOPTER! It makes for an easy takedown.

2007-06-13 03:26:45 PM
How about we just ban clothes altogether. If people go around naked then there'd be no more worries about what they're wearing. Plus it would probably have a beneficial effect on the obesity rates (people would need to start exercising so they don't get stared at).

I think instead of a mandatory fine on the spot, the kids should have to outrun police for 3 minutes, beginning right then. I would laugh till I snorted coke out my nose watching some fool in uber-baggy pants run, holding the waistband of the pants up and trying not to fall down as the police jogged after them at a leisurely stroll. If they can make the 3 minute run, they don't pay the fine. They get caught or fall down? Pay up, Baggy-Boy.

I used to think segregation was a Southern thing until I moved to the Chicago area a year ago. I've never seen a more segregated city in my life. The south side practically doesn't even exist to white yuppies on the north side, or it's mentioned as if it's a single neighborhood as opposed to being half of the city.

AcadianSidhe: You will have teenagers one day. You can control them with Bermuda Shorts, a Hawaiian Shirt, Brylcream, Black Socks and Sandals. "If you don't stop it, I am going to go out with you for a month wearing this shiat and volunteer in your classrom".

This is really stupid. The guys who wear these pants can't run from cops as fast, their pants will fall down and trip them.

2007-06-13 03:31:48 PM
A better solution is just to get all the old white guys in Louisiana to start walking around dressed with their pants down, and get the teachers and preachers to start doing it too. The gangstas will start dressing like Bill Gates. Should take a week.

No, they'd reach down further for something even uglier. Hip hop/rap is a reaction by ebonics blacks to the way blacks looked before the 80's - that is, looked at a certain way, you can look at the way blacks were presented, all the way from the cartoon, "The Cosby Kids" to blacksploitation films, etc. and you can feel like you might look ridiculous. So, the solution is to come up with some kind of culture that is so brutal, so ugly, so violent and intimidating that it couldn't possibly be seen in a light that would cause titters and giggling from an audience. It's similar to the phenomenong of a teen listening to rock instead of classical because, while he enjoys music, he's "too cool" for classical, or the psychology behind greeting someone with, "waddup" or "hey" because you're too cool to say, "hello" like a grandmother.

Hiphop/rap delivered the hope of being way too cool to ever be seen in a light that is ridiculous or funny, such as a guy in a giant fro and multi colored pants groovin to disco and shouting, "DYNOMITE!" Whatever else you could say about it, the hope being that that would only be, "it scared me", "it intimidated me", "I don't wanna be a racist so I'll agree yer music is a reflection of your neighborhood yadda yadda yadda"... what you COULDN'T say about it is, well, that it had those quirky, wonky, lame, waning qualities that black culture had in the 70's. Something as brutally ugly as rap is just too cool to be seen in such a light. Ebonics blacks find it "weak" to put in the sound track for, say, the movie, "The Wiz" in their car stereos, but something that is a guy yelling as if he were in a domestic dispute with loud drums in the back ground, whatever else you could say about it, it's too cool to be laughed at in the same way ebonics blacks think the world laughs at stuff like, "The Wiz".

Anyway...

LOL. They're just doing it to make whitey uncomfortable. It's well understood that it has become taboo to be seen as a racist, so it's FUN to get someone to feel like one, or try to struggle not to show disapproval or disgust at a black, because that would be racist. You walk into a public place with your pants down, and watch whitey try to ignore it, and it's a big laugh. HAW HAW!
=====================================

If you're a 'whitey' and you feel like you have to suppress your disgust whenever a black person enteres a room... I mean, fark it. Just be disgusted. Why should we care? You're apparently too ignorant to vote of hire anyone.

If I were black, I'd have fun doing that to some red necks, or something like that; but why do it to everyone? Why indiscriminantly hurt people? The answer has to be that these are just dumb jerks.

The only problem with those examples is that the second guy is displaying the frat boy "font tuck", which I found to be as annoying in 2005 it was when the same type of guys were displaying 4 inches of boxers in 1998.

I see. So we all piss on Iran when the vice police there arrest men and women there for short sleeve shirts and tiny headscarves, but banning baggy pants in the U.S. is just A-OK? Its not like you can have your balls or poon hanging out anywhere in public anyway--but PANTS?

Oh yeah, Brusly. I lived in St. Francisville for years (right across from Rosedown). New Roads was my first mardi gras (sad, i know) and was where I was told by several black families that I didn't belong there.

Mind you, I moved to St. Francisville direct from Queens NYC in 1980. And I swear to you there were always klan youth rally posters. I didn't even know what the Klan was until I saw these signs and asked my parents. When I finally made it NOLA, it didn't seem so bad. Mind you, I was in the tourist part, not East NOLA.

During my years there, race was always a big issue. At church, at school, and at work. Years later when I returned to LA in 2000 for a string of business trips with a new employer in Lake Charles, I was quickly reminded that race is still a very big issue. These are my experiences. YMMV.

FWIW, There are some aspects of LA I actually miss.

Nice reading comprehension skills. That bell curve is murder. No, I said anyone dressed in a way that is supposed to make people uncomfortable, like with your pants down and your underwear in plain sight. If I had kids, and they were with me, I'd call the cops (because having kids means I don't want to go to jail after stomping on the retard until he's a stain).

I mean, fark it. Just be disgusted. Why should we care? You're apparently too ignorant to vote of hire anyone.

That was coherent. Man, that bell curve...

No, I think he meant that Lake Charles is butt-up against Texas and therefore, by propinquity, Lake Charlesians are ipso facto Texans. Or something.

It's just like a natural born a**hole to oppress people and then tell them, "quit hating freedom", isn't it!

Look at history. From the days of ancietn Babylon until now, things have improved. Slowly, and sometimes halting and even taking a few steps backwards, but in general, always improving. Society is a nicer place now than at any time in history. There's no reason to think this trend won't continue. This means people like you, while you win in the short term, in the long term you lose. Don't feel bad. My first Mardi Gras experience was Addis. But I've been to the New Roads parade, and I know exactly what you're talking about. We were kinda suprised that it didn't look anything like a mardi gras parade- more like a homecoming parade.

I guess that depends on where you are. Much of the first two decades of my life was spent in west baton rouge in general, and so that's most of my experience, but I don't remember anything like that. Of course, personal experience doesn't always count for anything :)

During my years there, race was always a big issue. At church, at school, and at work. Years later when I returned to LA in 2000 for a string of business trips with a new employer in Lake Charles, I was quickly reminded that race is still a very big issue. These are my experiences.

I've seen race be an issue, but largely in the workplace, and largely in VERY complicated ways. Also, keep in mind Lake Charles isn't really like the rest of Louisiana.

LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD...SHHH :

You're right, there's segregation up north, too. Here in the north, the issue is just as obvious and just as, well, unjust. Down south, at least in some parts, there can be a weird sort of civic identity and maybe even pride attached to the issue of segregation.

I lived in a small town in central Louisiana for 3 years. When work took me elsewhere, I put the house up for sale. Sold the house to a nice family from a city that was from a nearby town. The night after I accepted their offer the front windows of the house were broken out, mailbox torn down. Was told that I had ruined "what used to be a pretty clean town," so that of course I should have expected something like that to happen. "Kids," they said.

Fark banning fashion trends. Walk up to the idiot, and calmly ask "Did you actually wake up, get dressed, look in the mirror, and think your hat looked good like that?"

But then again, I'm not the fashion police, and some people probably think I look stupid in jeans and a T-shirt. It's all about the freedom people. you can laugh at someone for dressing how they want, but dear god, please don't pass laws forbidding it.
